One for the Goomy! (859)

Bonnie and Serena teaming up was okay, but considering how much TR is a joke this season, I was surprised that Serena/Pancham actually struggled and needed Bonnie/Dedenne to enter the fray

Considering even Ash struggles with TR nowadays, I think Serena and Bonnie did great.

It was a filler, but it wasn't good either

XY055 - Goomy is scared of Dedenne.
XY056 - Goomy loves Dedenne.

If you skipped XY056 as if it were a filler, then you'd have no idea why Goomy is suddenly all over Dedenne in future episodes rather than being scared of it. Filler episodes can be skipped, but this one showcases development for Goomy hence why it's rather important and not a filler.

I enjoyed this episode a lot more than I thought I would, though I knew I was going to enjoy it anyway because of Goomy!

It was another Team Rocket plot and split up episode but I actually enjoyed Team Rocket in this one, they had some funny moments with Goomy.. It was so funny that they did the slow motion thing when trying to grab Goomy and he kept slipping of and then it zoomed up to it. XD
The Pokemon were great as well like Dedenne and Pancham. I like Serena's Pancham way more now, so it was good it got some focus and Serena battled with it. I also like how Pikachu came up with the idea to find Serena and co. by using his electric shock, it shows he's smarter than Ash lol. xD Bonnie was good too and so was Fennekin, I shall call her
FenneQueen for now.

Anyway good episode, it wasn't a filler but I wouldn't mind Team Rocket being like this in fillers. 8/10.

Because there's only so much that Goomy can elaborate on before we feel like we've heard it all before and Goomy was probably still too freaked by the incident to really tell the story himself yet. I got my own theories on what happened, though. I like to think that the marshlands that Goomy lived in is a peaceful place (probably the marsh between Lumiose and Laverre City or right before Snowbelle City), or was before the Malamar lords attacked. Goomy still remembers that very day. That same day, all he could see when looking towards the sky was their Yanmega army that bombarded the entire swamp with attack after attack. Ariados one after another attacked the fair Pokemon that resided in it, rounding up every Pokemon with their webs and venom. Some of the Pokemon took up arms to defend themselves, but the Malamar army's numbers were just too many, and the marsh's numbers were just too few. Goomy was one of the few Pokemon to escape, but all he could see when looking back was his home consumed in flames and smoke as the destruction continued.

...Well, that's one interpretation, anyway.

I thought the episode was amazing. Serena finally getting to blast off Team Rocket was simply beautiful.

Wasn't she battling during the fat Chespin episode? Besides, Bonnie having a talent in battling is hardly unsurprising considering her personality/character. Dedenne already has shown in past episodes it is very capable (like the episode it got lost).

Yeah, I guess that was nice. I feel my annoyance with Bunnelby and Luxio's lack of screentime, while Dedenne has had several episodes where it does something, probably colored my impression.

I thought the episode was amazing. Serena finally getting to blast off Team Rocket was simply beautiful.

I just didn't anything special about the episode. Based on Dedenne/Goomy, I might raise my initial 3/10 to a 4.5/10, but nothing higher.

The point I was making is Bonnie already has the go-getter attitude and character in terms of being a future trainer. Yeah, it's cool she battled and did well and helped Serena out, but it wasn't something where I went "HOLY SH1T".

This was a pretty good episode for a lot of the crew:

Team Rocket was dangerous. (but not overly so)
Dedenne
Pancham
Serena
Bonnie
The list goes on..

The title card bothers to have Bonnie in it, but even still she doesn't get a lot of focus anyway.

The first half of the episode was boring because, once again, they are led to trust Meowth. Even if they know he's going to trick them, they just...let him tag along anyway.

The second half, however, was much better in comparison. Bonnie actually fights in the rare occasions along with a pseudo-double battle with Serena, Goomy's slimy tracks are disguised as a way of saying it was pissing itself in fear, and Dedenne fiercely defending Goomy who was utterly helpless during the whole episode... That last point could be seen as a con, but I suppose Dedenne's presence kept it from busting some sick moves.

The only other thing I dislike is the fact Pancham's Stone Edge looks like ice.

Wow for once an episode where Team Rocket does not look like a complete joke , I hope this a sign that America will now show who the episode will focus on in the title cards, and more development for Goomy is always great even though it is sad that it has gotten more development than Fletchinder.

This was a pretty good episode. It was nice to see Serena able to fend off TR by herself as well as Dedenne and Goomy being able to get along.

Good episode for the little Pokémon, and decent Team Rocket action. It was good to see the title card as Bonnie instead of Ash, but it should have been Dedenne or Goomy. The way Goomy and Dedenne get along now is their own secret, meaning their trainers don't even know the real truth.

This was a heartwarming episode and it was great to see Goomy trust Dedenne and therefore a 'little' friendship has developed.

Also, I liked how the episode progressed as what started as a standard separation episode gave us unusual battles with unusual participants which adds a welcome variety and Serena and Bonnie didn't battle too badly.

Team rocket weren't bad either

Good episode, onto the next one!

So, the dub FINALLY decides to feature characters other than Ash on the title card and they got it wrong from the original ffs.

Well, I suppose it would be weird to start doing that with Dedenne whose inclusion in the original was weird but still... meh, at least they are trying now.
