One of the inspirations behind Pokémon was Satoshi Tajiri’s childhood hobby of bug collecting

Some may know this background story but for those that don’t:

The idea of Pokémon was inspired by the childhood hobby of Satoshi Tajiri. As a child, Satoshi liked collecting all sorts of I nsects, especially those that were hard to find.

You can read more about him here: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Satoshi_Tajiri?wprov=sfsi1

Now imagine this: imagine if young Satoshi moved to another city and was told that he couldn’t bring part of his insect collection for some odd reason. Outside of some ecological reason (which really wouldn’t be applicable here since the insects in Satoshi’s collection would be dead to begin with, thus not actually being able to affect ecosystems anymore), it would be really strange if he was told that he couldn’t bring a good amount of his collection with him to his new home. Furthermore, young Satoshi would be sad and upset that he had to leave behind a chunk of his collection, especially since many were hard to obtain and have value for him (heck, some of these that he has to leave behind are his favorites). He doesn’t get why the new city is restricting him from bringing his entire collection, and when he is given the reason(s), it/they is/are nonsensical to him (so he questions then and criticizes the people who made these rules as he feels that they really aren’t decent, nor have merit to them).

This is essentially how many in the Pokémon fandom feel regarding Sword and Shield and how these games won’t allow one to transfer in all of their past Pokémon.

This is a well known origin story, and we really don't need yet another thread to complain about the National Dex situation because it's literally been the focus of multiple threads in these forums for the past 2 months now.
