As I searched through the rubble with Rogue and Paladin, I couldn't help but think about what Theresa said. She found X again, but I already knew he was following orders. Even still, he was choosing to follow them, which really didn't make him and the rest of his team any better than his superiors. Even though I would have liked to believe he wasn't out to kill us, that wasn't the truth. Him and his men nearly killed Theresa, and if it hadn't been for Janine, she probably would have bleed to death. Even if we allowed him to explain, that wouldn't have changed anything. Letting us go would result in him being charged for treason, and I knew he wasn't going to do that against his Hoenn commanders. The only alternative was to carry out the mission, and that included either killing or capturing us.
We have to find out who it is... in Hoenn. We have to go to Hoenn. Maybe we'll find some answers...
I sighed as I thought it over, but I knew we couldn't. X and his team made this decision, and I couldn't turn my back against Team Galactic Plasma, who were working on our salvation and would be jeopardized if we didn't fulfill our mission here.
"Over here!" I heard Ian shout out. "I’m right here Nemesis, no need to yell so loud."
Thankfully Ian was still alive. Cluster bombs were no joke, and I wasn't about to underestimate the killing power of those things.
"We're lucky to be alive," I told Ian, still not forgetting the fact I was pretty beaten up myself. "As humans, I don't think we would have survived that."
Still, I was bleeding in a few places, and bruised in plenty of others. Using Moonlight only counteracted some of the damage. I could still fight, but after finding the M95 sniper rifle, I saw it was badly damaged, and had no chance of ever shooting straight again. Essentially, it was useless, meaning we'd have to continue this out on foot and use whatever weapons we could find, if we decided to use them. Thankfully, however, the spotting scope that Janine had been using earlier was still working. After crawling through the rubble, Janine tried to assess the outside situation.
"Oh great, looks like the UN's calling in more reinforcements," Janine muttered, really not sounding peachy about it. "More tanks, more troops, and I'm seeing a few more helicopters as well. There's just no end to these guys, is there?"
I could tell the UN was madly determined to exterminate the Chimera presence at all costs. It wasn't going to make my job any easier. Still, the more garbage they deployed in Orre, the less they were sending off in Unova. I didn't want to imagine all of this walking around Mistralton where our operations were delicate and needed to be kept quiet until it was time to go.
"Here, let me have a look at that," Janine told me, addressing my wounds as she was chewing bubble gum. "Your arm's kinda cut up, but thankfully nothing too much. Your forehead also took a nasty gash. Anything else hurting?"
"How's Theresa doing?" I asked, wondering if she was going to be all right.
"Eh, she's fine," Janine shrugged, wrapping the wounds with gauze and bandages. "At least you weren't shot like she was. Still, we should get the frick out of here before they start dropping more bombs. Thinking of laying a C4 trap for those tanks?"
I thought it over, but it was going to be difficult. The UN was pretty quick and effective at noticing Chimeras, even when we should have been hard to spot. Truthfully, my ideal time to strike was at night, and right now, it was too bright out to take advantage of the situation. Planting explosives on tanks would be much easier with the concealing cover of the night.
"Might need to use them like landmines," I told Janine, trying to think of the best way to use them. "Or, find some way to get the explosives to stick to surfaces. That might be a better idea..."
I could make that work, but I needed some means to get that sticky substance I needed...

Theresa started waking up, looking woozy. I had to say, Theresa looked cute and funny when she was dazed and confused. More like a lost puppy dog looking for a good home rather than a feral wolf looking to take a bite out of something.
"Why... why don't I remember...?" Theresa asked, looking lost in her own head.
"About Hoenn?" I asked, figuring that's what she was talking about before heading off to La La Land. "Sorry Terrimutt, but no can do. Spanking Hoenn isn't on TGP's agenda. And sorry to say, but X is a schmuck and I don't care if we have to knock his lights out."
Theresa just hummed, and I wasn't sure if she was even listening. Ah, whatever. Anyway, I had a solution for Alex's predicament. I grabbed one of his C4 explosives, spat out the gum I was chewing, slapped it on the back of the C4 brick, and presented it to him.
"There ya go," I smiled. "It's sticky now. Should stick to whatever tank, wall, or soldier's forehead you decide to slap it onto. Say, that gives me an idea!"
Candy Weapons! Why, it was brilliant! The UN wouldn't suspect weapons being made from candy! Guns that fired hard candy bullets, or frag grenades that used hard jawbreakers for shrapnel. And weapons that used lots of lots of gum to bind and suppress enemy UN forces! Ha ha ha, the look on their faces would be priceless!
"We need to make candy weapons!" I told Alex and Theresa... if she was still actually paying attention. "The UN will think we just have a crazy sweet tooth, and then BAM! Jawbreaker frag grenade to the face! That's the problem with guns, grenades, and bombs. Everything's gotta be black, black, black. But if they're colorful and candy-colored, why, no one's going to take them seriously!"
"I guess it might work, although it seems a little on the odd side," Alex shrugged, seemingly not much of a candy lover.
"And that's why it'll work!" I urged him on. "Your sniper rifle's busted anyway. I mean, I'd need a confectionary and some bombs to make it work, but the idea is there! You guys are too... badass, so everyone always thinks you're up to no good. But if you dress up crazy and jester like, carry a bunch of candy-colored items that people think are candy but are actually weapons, and act like a goofus, people are going to let their guard down!"
In the meantime, I got to chewing some more gum to make it possible for Alex's C4 bricks to stick to things. It would be great to slap onto those stupid helicopters. I'll admit, I didn't have the greatest throwing arm out there, but Alex might be able to pull it off. Meanwhile, there was a lot of gum to chew, so I handed some to Alex. He shrugged and popped some in and began to chew as well, getting it nice and sticky. I handed some to Theresa, but she just turned it down. Figured it had to be tough to chew gum with only canines.
Meanwhile, I didn't know why Theresa cared so much about that Corporal X guy anyway. Almost made me think twice about killing him, because maybe Theresa would fall in love with X instead, and leave Alex for me! I guess it was hard for her if X always had his face covered, but if we removed the mask, hey, maybe Theresa would go wild for that guy and want to marry him! That would be perfect! That would leave Alex for me, and everyone would be happy!
"Dress up like a jester?" Alex asked, thinking that was a weird plan. "Bunnies that dress up like jesters, use concealed weapons that look like candy, and put on a show for the UN only to get them distracted and put their guard down. Can't help but say, no one has the right to say you're unoriginal, Janine."
"So does that mean you'll do it!?" I asked him, wondering if he would. The more I thought about it, the more fun it sounded!
I could see that look in his eyes. Humiliating the UN, becoming infamous among their ranks, and finding a new way to wreck their plans. Sure, he wasn't the kind of guy that would be crazy about candy themes and laughing like a goof, but it was a different approach. It was "tactical" and "strategic" in a way, but I really wanted to do it to rub it in the UN's face, and actually become "those crazy jester bunnies" that struck fear in the UN, rather than being just another Joe Schmoe sniper and spotter.
"The UN would really hate something like that..." Alex couldn't help but snicker. "Better they focus on us rather than on Team Galactic Plasma's operations. Well, it's worth a shot."
"YES!" I shouted with glee. "I figure Realgam Tower might be the place we need to search for the essentials. You know, costumes, candy, that kind of thing. That whole place is meant to be a tourist trap, and it was evacuated with the war, meaning it's probably ripe full of fun stuff."
"I see the UN easily falling for a taunt like this..." Alex told me. "I figure it's probably the best way to buy us more time."
With that, we quietly made our way toward Realgam Tower. I wasn't sure how Theresa and Ian would take to this, but whatever. I knew for a fact that being a nemesis to someone and having fun while doing it drove people crazy. Just the thing we needed!
