Out of all Ash's Sinnoh rivals, do you think Nando was the most normal?

Nando was the only one of Ash's rivals tht he didn't argue with, or thought was weird. What do you guy think?

Nando didn't act like a, "normal" guy though. He was a bard who played music for small woodland Pokemon.

Kenny is probably the closest thing to a, "normal," rival in the show, even though people don't like him.

I think the only one he really "argued" with was Paul. With Barry, it was more of a friendly competitiveness (and Barry seemed the more competitive of the two), and we honestly didn't get to see enough of a rivalry with Nando or Conway to really have a good idea of their relationship (if anything, those two characters were shown more with Dawn).

Nando was far from normal IMO. I agree with what CyberCubed said, the word you are thinking about is "calm". None of Ash's rivals were normal.

What? seriously? Saying Nando is more of Dawn's rival then Ash's is like saying Zangoose's enemy is Chimchar more then Seviper.....

Ash & Nando battled twice! That is right, TWICE! How many times did Dawn & Nando battle? Once. If anything Nando is more of a rival to Ash but in the end, he is equally rivals to both.

Barry seemed like a pretty normal guy outside of his lack of patience.

Nando was a COTD who was a catalyst in the early part of the series to bring Dawn and Ash closer together (something that is purposely forgotten every time). He only became a regular after they found him to be convenient disposable fodder.

Yes, they battled twice, but they weren't really rivals. Nando appeared to be more important in contests.

Every rival has a different personality. What makes the other rivals not normal. And by other rivals, I am talking about Ritchie, Gary, Harrison etc. as well. Just because of Barry's rushing around, and Conway's stalking doesn't make Ash's other rivals abnormal guys. They were decent trainers as well.

I don't even know why the creators called Nando a rival. He wasn't really mean or too pushy to Dawn or Ash just because he participated in both competitions. He was so calm and almost like he didn't care who or what was going on most of the times.

I honestly can't say a lot about Nando at all. Even though he's appeared more in Season 10, we've seen him more along the lines of his Contest progress. From a Secret Sphere of Influence, all we heard of his Gym progress was "I've only got one Badge so far." At least we've seen him in the Hearthome Contest, but that's all?

After he vanished during Season 11, Season 12 (besides his TV appearance), he then appears right at the start of the Grand Festival preparations. Its just like he was only made for his appearance in the Grand Festival, after Season 10 aired.

If we were to have more episodes of Nando between 2 full seasons, I would have more views on him. I just feel bad for the guy with his treatment on the show. Seeing him with some beast Pokemon like Altaria, Lopunny and Armaldo is amazing stuff, but only shot for 1 appearance each. At least he left with a great position in the Grand Festival, landing in the Top 4; along with a great semi final battle with Zoey.

As for Gym Battles/League, really... sad to see he lost in the first round (to Ash) of the Suzuran Tournament. But when they were matched up for the first round battle, its not so surprising.

Perhaps the dedication to focus on both Contest and Gyms was a bit too much to work with on screen?

Remember Nando was also a rival of Dawn. And his calmness is just his personality. If all the rivals were hot headed and aggressive, there would be no point in having different rivals. Unique personalities in different rivals really make the rivalries interesting.

lmao if i met Nando in real life i would be terrified, i dont really think hes that normal, this might sound shocking but i accually think paul.... and he didnt really argue with ash, if ash was annoying him or w/e he would just be like "so what if i am", or if ash wouldnt stfu he would like get kinda mad and say hes pathetic, but i dont think he really acted weird although his social skills could use some work...

Nando wasn't even on my radar so I doubt he was on Ash's either. I thought the two didn't seem to have even shared a single line of dialogue until the Sinnoh League Tournament started in late Sinnoh. For a time, I don't think Nando was as normal or as innocent as people would believed. He wandered the Sinnoh region with his gang of musical Pokemon while playing a Mew harp; that's not normal. I think his calm personality bugged me since it seemed like he was hiding his true nature underneath that peaceful facade but I guess I was wrong. I don't think he's "all there" though :/
