OVGD's Top 100 Games of all Time

[Charizard Champion#06]

Inspired by G4's lackluster Top 100 Games of all Time list, OVGD is going to make their own BETTER list. Credit goes to Night Shadow for the idea, this week him and I worked out the details and I think we have a solid way to make this work.

First of all is going to be the nominations. Everyone can post their list of their own Top 25 Games of all Time. #1 will be ranked the highest and #25 is the lowest.
Each game on the list will get a number of points. #1 will receive 25 points, #2 will receive 24 points, #3 will receive 23 points etc. until #25 receives one point.
The games with the highest amount of points will make up the "default" Top 100 list. Everyone's nomination scores will be taken into account so that the games with the most acclaim, praise, and support will end up being ranked highly.

Edit: Only two games from each series per Top 25 list. To stop things from getting too crowded.

After the default list is prepared, that's when people can start debating on which games should be ranked higher/lower. It would be best if people debate on such games one at a time to not cause confusion. At the end of the discussion the person with the strongest argument will have their choice impact the list. This part may need some tweaking.

So what are you thoughts on this process? Do you believe it to be fair or does it need some work? You guys can start making nominations right away.

One per series seems a little too restrictive, but I can see why you would want that rule. So the list isn't flooded with the same series titles over and over again. How about a maximum of two per series?

I think in this voting system, individual votes can have too much of an impact on the poll, especially when you can only nominate 25 games. Two hardcore Silent Hill fans putting Silent Hill as their #1 game will probably guarantee it on the list, regardless of the rest of the other voters (I'm not saying Silent Hill doesn't deserve to be on the list, I just used it for the sake of making a point). No, I think no matter what year the video game releases it should be valid.

So what do you suggest? We change how many points each nomination earns? Or that we don't even rank them? What I was going for with the "points" idea is to create a basic list that can be changed after, just so ranking 100 games purely through discussion isn't one big mess.

Edit: I should probably mention that the default list isn't locked into place. You argue for why a different game can be added or why games can be taken away.

I 2nd this motion. This will keep the super popular titles from having over 5 nominations of their series.

A few things to note about my list. Its made up of games I have personally played multiple times and I think are quite popular with some if not most of the people in OVGD.

There are no Fighting games because I'm sure someone else will rank them high on their own personal list. I would keep shooters away from my list but I did play them and like them so that wouldn't be fair.

25 is a low number to choose from and my list had games appear and disappear a lot. I spent about 30 minutes making up the list and it would have gone on longer since the order determines how many points it gets but I said _____ it and finished the list lol.

All of my friends think the exact same philosophy as the trolls on Chugga's videos. I'd like to thank him and a few other YouTubers for having me stick with Nintendo.
