PBR Doubles Team - Hail

Will-powered Spriter

Pokédex Complete!
This team is kind of both in-game, and pseudo competitive. However, it's certainly not properly competitive, so I put it in in game.
The team is a hail team, and two of my Pokémon utilise the HGSS Mimic/Transform/Rage glitch in order to obtain moves they couldn't already learn. PBR uses a 4 out of 6 format, so I can switch leads whenever I want. Some coliseums utilise an item clause, so I need alternate items in some cases.

1.
460-m.png

Abomasnow (Hasty) @Life Orb
Snow Warning
EVs: Att 140, SpA 116, S 252
Blizzard
Leech Seed
Wood Hammer
Focus Punch
My Hail Summoner. I didn't want to use substitute twice, and I reckon Focus Punch can work on its own in double. No matter it's speed, it doesn't stand a hope in hell of out speeding ScarfKyogre, and shouldn't out speed most Groudon or Kyogre, meaning it will set up hail after they set up sun/rain, although it might out speed Tyrannitar and Hippowdon, they’re not as common.
Wood Hammer, Hail, and a Grass Typing help it counter ScarfKyogre, maybe even stopping it from turning up at all. I hate ScarfKyogre on Wi-Fi... Life Orb might cause some problems with Wood Hammer, but Leech seed should help cover that.

2.
365.png

Walrein (Bold) @Leftovers
Ice Body
EVs: HP 220, Def 120, SpA 48, SpD 120
Substitute
Blizzard/Encore
Super Fang
Brine
I don't want to take too long killing enemies, so I've included Super Fang to half HP, and then Brine to take advantage of the above, so the enemy will kick the bucket in as little turns as possible if I find an opponent that doesn't try to break the substitute. I know this one needs specific HP IVs for substitute.

3.
227.png

Skarmory (Sassy) @ Shell Bell
Sturdy
EVs: HP 252, Def 4, SpD 252
Metal Burst
Roost
Stealth Rock
Whirlwind
Metal Burst is a rage glitch move. Lowest Speed possible, to allow Metal Burst to work its magic, roost to recover. Designed to survive powerful special attacks. Stealth rock for fire types that threaten Abomasnow and Walrein, Whirlwind because nothing really switches, ever, in in-game or Wi-Fi. Sturdy stops OHKO moves spoiling Metal Burst.
Shed Shell heals before hail, which is pretty important for a counter tactic.

4.
142.png

Aerodactyl (Jolly) @ Expert Belt
Rock Head
EVs: HP 4, Att 252, S 252
Taunt
Head Smash
Brave Bird
Earthquake
Second Rage Glitch move set. Has amazing coverage, but can't use Earthquake except on Skarmory and Walrein. Taunt out speeds and stops Dark Void, my second Wi-Fi hate. I didn't want to use Life-Orb; it would die, especially with Hail damage.

Either:

1. Tentacruel (Calm/Gentle if shiny) @ Black Sludge
Clear Body/ Liquid Ooze is shiny
EVs: HP 252, D 120, S 136
Toxic Spikes
Blizzard
Hydro pump
Protect
Toxic Spikes works well with Skarmory's whirlwind, Blizzard for reliable damage, Hydro Pump for more powerful hits, to defeat Fire Types. Protect stops Earthquake's from team members.
I have a shiny Tentacool, which I could use, but it doesn't have the right nature.

Or:
5.
036.png

Clefable (Sassy) @ Leftovers/Alternate Item Clause Item
Magic Guard
EVs: HP 252, Def 178, SpD 80
Heal Bell/Wish
Toxic
Blizzard/Thunderbolt
Light Screen/Helping Hand
Heal bell or Wish works well with other team members, toxic is practically a must on a stall team (or at least stall-ish). Thunderbolt could go over Blizzard, because I do not need four people using it. Light screen is definitely better then Reflect for my team, but helping hand could work.

Or:
5.
471-f.png

Glaceon (Timid) @ Life Orb / Alternate Item clause item
Snow Cloak
EVs: HP 4, SpA 252, S 252
Blizzard
HP Fighting
Wish/Helping Hand
Toxic
I don't want Glaceon to purely be a sweeper, so I gave it two support moves. Glaceon has the most powerful Blizzard... IN THE WORLD! HP fighting covers a lot of stuff, but I really hate trying for Hidden Power, so alternates would be appreciated. Toxic and Wish are same reason as Clefable, although Helping Hand's boost might be a bit redundant compared to blasting stuff with SuperBlizzard. Perhaps Glaceon could go for more defensive Evs, as it has passable defences, and it's terrible HP is reinforced with an evasion boost.

6.
473-m.png

Mamoswine (Naive/Careful if shiny) @ Salac Berry
Snow Cloak
EVs: Att 252, Def 4 S 252
Endure
Endeavor
Earthquake
Blizzard
Endure for protecting from earthquake/Surf, Endeavor to take advantage of berry, weather and ability and K.O non ice types, Blizzard and Earthquake for general sweeping.

I haven't started making the team yet, so any changes are possible, but my shiny Swinuband tentacool's natures and abilities are set in stone if I use them.

If you send out Abomosnow and Walrein it would be easy for a fast typhlosion and jolteon to kill of your first two.
Typhloison-Eruption=Abomosnow(Dead)Walrein(Hurt)
Jolteon-Thunderbolt=Walrein(Dead)
So for Abomosnow+Rock Slide=Typhlosion(Dead)Jolteon(hurt)
Walrein use sub or protect not both.

Eh, a Hail team does not use 3 Pokemon that are getting hurt by Hail :p
(this is basically the same case as everyone putting T-tar on a non-Sandstorm team xD. It might be powerful, but if it ends up hurting your team, it's not good. Especially if the weather is permanent)

For Tentacruel's ability, go with Clear Body, not Liquid Ooze. Draining moves are too rare to see anyway.
Not to mention that the most those draining moves can do for damage is inflicting neutral damage, and most of them are special, won't do much with Tentacruel's amazing SDef. Drain Punch is physical, but weak and deals NVE damage.

First off, PBR allows you to choose your team order every time, so If I see a Typhlosion in the line up, I can always send out Aerodactyl and leave Abomasnow for later. I do appear to have a pretty hefty electric weakness though.
As for Walrein, the logic is that lefties/ice body allows it to use substitute, then protect, and then be fully healed and able to use substitute again. Anyway, wqhat do you suggest I replace it with?

Due to the above mentioned electric weakness, I might kedung Tentacruel in favour of something else. Clefable? Mamoswine? Also, I guess if I want as little Hail weakness as possible, so the last pokemon ought to be an ice type too. Frosslass? My Shiny Weavile?
On the other hand, a poison type allows me to use black sludge in masters battle. If I do keep tentacruel, I know that liquid ooze is practically useless, but stat reduction moves outside of intimidate aren't all that common. Accepting either ability would make breeding easier. That and my shiny tentacool has liquid ooze, if I choose to use it.

^ this set might be a bit more useful if you want to be gimmicky w/brine

walrein@leftovers
=icebody=
~bold~
220hp/240def/48sp.atk
-substitute/encore
-brine
-blizzard/ice beam
-superfang
sub is for the random status and w/lefties and possibly hail, this is very useful
superfang + brine = lol wut, 195 basepower. wow.
blizzard/icebeam are good STABs, icebeam's there for reliability(if abomasnow hasnt been sent out yet)

I prefer the lower set, so maybe I could use rockslide for something else, maybe over Focus Punch on Abomasnow. I'm definately keeping substitute, so unless encore is somewhere else, then i shan't use it on Walrein, though it would be useful. Maybe over Blizzard, if my last pokemon is also an ice type, then I an afford to drop blizzard on walrein. Also, in doubles, is it be beter to split defensive evs over both defenses or specialise?

With Skarmory, I'm thinking of giving it shell bell, not just for item clause, but all the time. Firstly, as it's proportional to the damage metal burst causes, in a lot of cases it's more effective then leftovers. Secondly, Shell bell activates straight after the attack, so as long as Metal Bust causes 64 or more damage, then it can survive hail. Leftover activates after hail, meaning it will often kill skarm. That's bad. On the other hand, Shell Bell won't activate when it roosts, spikes or whirlwinds.

I still need advice for the last member of my team.

Edit-
I wish I knew if I was allowed to bump.

I've decided on my last team member:

Mamoswine (Jolly) @ Salac Berry ;473;
Snow Cloak
EVs: Att 252, Def 4 S 252
Endure
Endeavor
Earthquake
Blizzard

Uses Blizzard over Ice Shard, as I expect hail will deal with the last hit point. Salac means it can speed up to appreciable levels, Snow Cloak means with a bit of luck I can keep going. Endure works well with Aero's Earthquake, and Tenty's (if I keep it) Surf. It doesn't have to use the endeavor tactic either. Mamoswine is a better user of Earthquake, as at least two other pokemon can fly, and one has substitute.

I'm also thinking of switching out Tentacruel, for Clefable or Glaceon. Both are immune to hail, Glaceon benefitting from it, both have large amounts of support moves, including heal bell, helping hand, wish and toxic, Rage Glitch moves at a push, Clefable also having dual screens and follow me.

Are they worth using over Tentacruel, and if so, which moves?

remember to invest in HP first. but on walrein the set I gave can be tweaked to a more defensive set
220hp/240def/48sp.def
but be aware that 4/6 are weak to electric, that often comes in a special atk

good idea, I just dont really know if it will work :p

I wish I knew if I was allowed to bump.

I've decided on my last team member:

Mamoswine (naive) @ Salac Berry ;473;
Snow Cloak
EVs: Att 252, Def 4 S 252
Endure
Endeavor
Earthquake
Blizzard

I'm not so sure about this but i'd make it naive so you dont lower the power of blizzard

It doesn't have to use the endeavor tactic either. if you're worried about that, you can just use hydropump on tenty

It depends on what you really need, clefable absorbs special atks like lard and glaceon makes a dangerous sweeper in hail.

clefable@leftovers
=sassy=
~magic guard~
252hp/178def/80sp.def(or sp.atk)
-calm mind/healbell
-thunderwave
-blizzard/return
-lighscreen/reflect
an extremely simple clefable set that tanks or annoys

glaceon makes for a ridiculously powerful sweeper during hail.... okay maby not ridiculously powerful but still pretty good

glaceon @ life orb
=timid=
~snow cloak~
252sp.atk/252spd/6hp
-blizzard/ice beam
-shadowball
-HP fighting
-yawn/toxic/wish

straight out sweeper w/utility in the last slot

First of all, I thought this thread was dead, do I've started creating my team, although all I've got is Swinub. I noticed Jolly didn't fit, so I brought my Naive Synchroniser, set out chaining and am now the proud owner of:

Two Naive (+S, -SpD) Oblivious Shiny Swinub
One Careful (+SpD, -SpA) Snow Cloak Shiny Swinub

...Crap.

Now, the problem with Glaceon is replacing tentacruel leaves a 4/6 Fire weakness, instead of the 4/6 electric weakness. Clefable makes the better middle ground, but on the other hand, I've used Clefable before, and it's boring, which is a problem for an ingame team.

Gah, which do I use? I'm leaning towards Tentacruel...

So, my versions of your suggestions.

1.Tentacruel (Calm/Gentle if shiny) @ Black Sludge ;073;

2. Clefable (Sassy) @ Leftovers/Alternate Item Clause Item. ;036;
Magic Guard
EVs: HP 252, Def 178, SpD 80
Heal Bell/Wish
Toxic
Blizzard/Thunderbolt
Light Screen/Helping Hand
Healbell or Wish works well with other team members, toxic is practically a must on a stall team (or at least stall-ish). Thunderbolt could go over Blizzard, because I do not need four people using it. Light screen is definately better then Reflect for my team, but Helping hand could work.

3. Glaceon (Timid) @ Life Orb / Alternate Item clause item (Abomasnow has it already) ;471;
Perhaps Glaceon could go for more defensive Evs, as it has passible defenses, and it's terrible HP is reinforced with an evasion boost.
