A staircase of light as a symbol of Satoshi's path he is going through.

As far as I know, a staircase of light appeared in Japanese openings and endings only twice. Only Satoshi was running through it, and it would be too straight to show him running to Hikari in DP.

Here is a list of moments that were recreated by Satoshi and Hikari and of their moments that were later recreated by people and/or Pokemon:

- Satoshi and Hikari's pose on this poster
- Kevin saving Sheena in the M12
- Ida's punch in SM
- Hikari and Musashi while the guys are sleeping in SM
- several recreations of Satoshi and Chikorita (Bayleaf) moments
- a moment between Goodra and Florges in XY
- a moment between Rowlet and Popplio
- a moment with Pichu and young Garura from the start of Pokemon Journeys

Amazing, isn't it? ☺

It is interesting how the debate has been generated about whether the new protagonist is the daughter of Ash and Dawn or Ash and Serena, even in Japan there are many who believe that Riko is the daughter of Ash and Dawn!

In any case, I don't think Rico would be Ash's daughter since she doesn't look like him, she looks more like a fusion between Dawn and Serena, but who knows!

In any case, there are still the 11 special episodes left and it is already confirmed that all of Ash's friends will appear, including Dawn, maybe Ash will go to Sinnoh to support Dawn at the grand festival together with Ambipom. who knows what can happen there

It is also interesting to see how the boy that appears in the next special episode for this friday 23 also seems to be the son of Ash and Dawn due to the hairstyle similar to Ash but with Dawn's grey/blue tone hair

Satoshi's upset face while seeing off a girl? Well, here it is!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CCqSUgslqZd/
He was seeing off Hikari... Certain opponents pretend like Satoshi is dense or he feels nothing romantic to her, but if you look at his face there, he loved Hikari to the point of missing her just a moment after her departure.

The sweet smiles from Satoshi to Hikari. Look continuously at Satoshi's face at each reunion with Hikari, how many times and how long he was looking at her, how much it shined around her. And there's a freaking out smile that says a lot how much Satoshi enjoyed Hikari - https://www.instagram.com/p/CCN3f5pjJkz/

But what about Satoshi's heart? It struggles when Hikari struggles. Here you can see him keeping his hand on it - https://www.instagram.com/p/CUhlNBOoKH_/ This was in DP, you would feel "Nah, he is now indifferent". I dare to disappoint you - when Hikari started to cry in JN 089, Satoshi was the only one with a blob on his face, he still struggles when Hikari struggles.

How often did you see Satoshi gritting his teeth while a girl was in a competition?
Such a personal attitude of taking a girl's competition too hard from Satoshi was shown only at Hikari's Grand Festival. Hikari gritted her teeth too at Satoshi's final with Dande.

Satoshi and Hikari is the only pairing with Satoshi where there is deep and subtle mutual love. Their actions, faces and gestures don't lie.

This show is about Pokemon, right?

When Serena's Fokko and Pancham felt low, Satoshi was formal with them. Satoshi had a closer bond with Hikari's Pochama, so when it felt low, he patted its head.

Satoshi and Hikari had the greatest parenting and family subplot. And being a family is one step higher than having a romantic relationship.
Here are other examples of Satoshi's and Hikari's parenting:
Satoshi on his knees, caring for Pochama
And amazingly, Pochama caring for Satoshi
Ultimately, Pochama is the only girl's pokemon who thought of Satoshi and its trainer as its parents.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CS7AyXCIbZy/ Eteboth is the only girl's pokemon who was touched simultaneously by Satoshi and its trainer.

Even the topic of adoption is there for Satoshi and Hikari, they deserve respect for assisting Hikozaru to enter their family. Hikari's care for it remained in its battles with Denji and Shinji.

Look at their pokemon children above and below, and see how good Satoshi and Hikari would be together as the parents of their human children. No kiss can overwhelm the amazing family atmosphere they've created.

Despite Satoshi has changes in character between XYZ and SM, there's one certain thing that remained with him in Isshu, Kalos and Alola - 'daijoubu, daijoubu' - the Hikari's catchphrase with her context of being actually 'dajoubu janai'.

At first Satoshi used it to support Hikari, but since the final DP episode it has been his trait for a very long time.

As I said, in DP 191 we had Satoshi using 'daijoubu, daijoubu' for himself after he fell down the stairs at Hikari's home and Hikari asked him if he was fine.

In BW 013 Satoshi fell down from a tree and immediately after that answered to his Pikachu's concern with 'daijoubu, daijoubu'.

Satoshi replied to Serena with Hikari's 'daijoubu, daijoubu' twice (in XY 042 it was at Serena's criticism of being 'the clumsiest one' and in XY 115 it was at Serena's fear of him catching a cold before he sneezed). Shockingly Hikari's bit alongside the memory of the certain Pochama still lived in his mind through Serena's crush and her attempts to get his love.

And even more shockingly, the Hikari's 'daijoubu, daijoubu' bit has survived the Serena's attempts and was used by Satoshi two more times in Alola - in SM 024 (as a reply to his classmates' concern before his presentation) and in SM 085 (as a reply to Mamane's concern after he crashed into the vaulting box).

There was one more 'daijoubu, daijoubu' with the same context from Mao in SM 018, but since we know that Satoshi spammed it sometimes, you can't strike out a possibility that she got 'infected' with it from Satoshi like Koharu got 'infected' from Hikari in JN 075.

To sum it up, it is a fact that Hikari influenced Satoshi so much that he has got not only the countershield idea from her, but her catchphrase which has become a constant part of his personality - and this is something unique.

Hey, props for all of these effort posts. Ash and Dawn had a strong friendship, and if in the unlikely chance it did become romantic, there's definitely a foundation for why that's the case (honestly more than other ships if I'm being honest).

If neither person has an interest in the other, then them becoming a couple is an absurd development. This ain’t real life, it’s fiction. You can’t just go “well they were best friends so falling in love sounds plausible!”. You gotta show that development.

There were many times when Satoshi had a serious concern for Hikari and vice versa, clearly beyond the level of best friends - mind their faces and body language. There was also care and support for each other that also went beyond nothing serious to unique or closer than with others. They also had some of their moments like a couple that is already married and has children.

You've missed it just because you didn't read between the lines, for example Satoshi putting his arm around Hikari's chair in DP 103, his excessive worry for Hikari in DP 119, Satoshi thinking of Hikari while she substituted Princess Salvia or coming immediately to Sinnoh with his favourite croquettes to care for Hikari. Satoshi wanted and let himself make Hikari soaking wet, something ridiculous, yet amazing because he couldn't do that without feeling a close relationship. There were many subtle moments from Hikari as well. It is just the love of a higher (serious) class, something that only some adults have. 'Dialga, Palkia and Darkrai' in shounen could be the Pokemon 'Romeo and Juliet' - Satoshi and Hikari could have died in an attempt to save each other. Since that movie SatoHika could be declared canon, the two people hanging between life and death for each other were not a one-sided crush.

The fact is also that Satoshi was much more into Hikari and her pokemon than into Serena, Kasumi and their pokemon. And Hikari was much more into Satoshi and his pokemon than into Jun, Kengo, Shinji, Kohei and Takeshi. Satoshi deeply loves and enjoys Hikari, while Hikari deeply loves and enjoys Satoshi.

The fact the pearlshipping is one of the top 3 most popular ships despite having Ash or Dawn not show any blatant romantic feelings towards each other is a testament to their amazing chemistry. Imagine how popular pearlshipping would be if Ash or Dawn had blatant romantic feelings towards each other.

Since Ash is travelling with Misty and Brock again and they are supposed to put all of Ash's past companions in these last few episodes, it will be interesting to see Dawn interact with Misty, they've never met before after all. I could see Misty getting a bit jealous over Ash and Dawn's high fives, just a little bit. I'm patiently waiting on that episode and how it will play out.

Come to think of it pearlshipping is the perfect balance between amour and pokeshipping. Ash and Dawn had lots banter like pokeshipping and has the mutual respect, support and purity that amourshipping has.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but man, that early MPM optimism as far as character interactions go is just depressing in hindsight. Best girl deserved so much better (amongst others).

I'm basically neutral/slightly positive on pearlshipping. It's probably my 3rd favorite of the main Ash ships though after firstfriend and poke. Dawn has always been there for Ash.
