youmay have noticed that poeple don't use hyper beam. i don't see why not. it has 150 power and is devastating with swords dance/ scope lens/ and a dire hit. do you think we should use it or not????;249-d;

Um, this should be in Pokepolls.

And no, it's a terrible move. Essentially a 75 base power with 90% accuracy that kepps your Pokemon in battle! What's to lose! ;D

It can't kill a lot of stuff, and lots of idiots like using it with slaking, which makes it look worse. :p And you can't switch. Ouch.

...And you can't attack the next turn. Major pain to deal with. Same goes for Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant and Hydro Cannon. Their just elemental Hyper Beams.

If any of you either think, a Hyper Beam is used to END a battle as a finishing move. I use it on Ursaring and such. It's tactical purpose is like, "Oh, this is over and done with. Ursaring, use Hyper Beam on that Wigglytuff to end this battle!!"

*Ursaring summons Hyper Beam and blasts Wigglytuff with a one-hit KO*

*Insert name here* has one the battle!

The elemental Hyper Beams serve the same purpose but deal elemental damage. They end battles, especially on the last foe you're up against. AND, if your starter is low in health when it uses it on the foe, it gains a boost and does even more damage.

lol

Explosion does the same thing, and it isn't situational.

Hyper Beam is terrible, it leaves you immobile, it sucks overall.

Also, I find the phrase "any of you either think" ironic.

Hyper Beam's weakness is that it requires a recharge and its accuracy isn't that good. If ya wanna use it, tch, then I suggest using it as a last-moment move if you knowyar ganna get OHKO'd tha next turn.

Hyper Beam and co are essentially bad moves. They are bad moves because they leave you immobile for the next turn. Example- For usaring, 2 returns do more damage than 1 hyper beam.
153*2=306
150*1=150
Not taking in account of accuracy and the immobile turn.
However, hyper beam can be useful on pokemon with good attack and a crappy movepool like tauros to finish off something.

because it sucks. if you're gonna be using hyper beam/blast burn on charizard you might as well be using fire blast as fire blast gets STAB (180 base power after words), only has 45 base power less, and you dont have to recharge next turn.

go, my army!
i think it makes a good finishing move and is actually fitting for slaking; it can't attack every other turn anyway!

hyper beam still sucks on slaking because if you use return, you can switch out afterwards. you cant with hyper beam. but if you're playing ingame its good on slaking because hyper beam will 1hko nearly everything and you can switch out if you're set to shift

hyper beam is decent on things that suck or have terrible movepools so it can be used as a mini explosion, like tauros or pidgeot.

Hyper Beam? Only in devestating, and I mean VERY devestating moments of battle. Otherwise, the move sucks, because missing is a downer, and having to recharge gets be peeved.

Hyper Beam could very well be the worst pokemon move in history. Why? Because it wastes two turns, you cant switch, and it can miss. Hyper Beam has 150 base power. Use a move like return with 120 base power twice which adds up to 240 base power. And you have 100 percent accuracy with the ability to switch. I think I've made my point. If you want to use hyper beam, use it as a last move resort ONLY.
