Persona 4 remake and fighting game confirmed

Oh. My. God. My wildest dreams are coming true.

I may seriously consider buying a Vita now. The range of titles for it is astounding (LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, SFxT, BB: CSII+, Dragon's Crown, Little King's Story 2), and considering how I don't own a PSP the backwards compatibility is immensely tempting. And now there's Persona 4... I'd probably use it more than my 3DS.

A Persona 4 fighting game! By Arc System Works! With Aigis! Yessssss

The roster'll be small, no more than twelve I'm betting (the roster of Calamity Trigger). But twelve will be enough characters if they integrate enough variety of gameplay, which the Personae'll certainly offer!

Maybe it'll play like JJBA with a Stand system?

I would speculate Aigis anyway based off of sheer moveset potential, so who else is there? I don't care, I just want screenshots and videos of EVERYTHING because I'm obsessive.

And even if it isn't localised (doubtful) I can still have it because PS3s aren't region locked!

Win-win situation.
The Ultimate in Midnight Arena has a new story that takes place two months after the events of Persona 4. Characters from Persona 4 and Persona 3 will feature in the game.

OK, so wishlist!
I want Teddie! And Mitsuru! And Nanako and Elizabeth and Margaret even if it makes ZERO SENSE.

If Bayonetta 2 is seriously announced this week (and Kamiya wasn't just joking about it) I will overload.

My guess is that it's one of the things they added in that fans asked for: outfit changes. Persona 3 had it, yet it was oddly absent from Persona 4. The only time characters changed outfits in P4 was when the seasons changed.

Something also tells me that with Aigis appearing in the fighting game, it may hint that she makes an appearance in the remake, since P4 does take place several years after P3.

Wait... Yukiko? That's not the new character Marie? Her hair looks too short to be Yukiko's. And I thought it was Naoto at first glance cause of the hat.

EDIT: Oh, you mean the pic above the last pic in the last scan? She looks like she has a hat and no other changes.

Confirmed characters:
(l to r) xx Aigis (Fool), Yukiko (Priestess), Yu Narukami (Fool), Yosuke (Magician), Chie (Chariot), Kanji (Emperor) xx

Rise as announcer/unknown support feature

Lord those scans were bad, but I'm definitely seeing Priestess and Emperor underneath the two playing cards.

It looks like it could be a roster of ten, at least for the arcade release, which doesn't surprise me considering how it's an ASW game.

And there's always DLC later along the line~

I desperately need clear screens and footage.

More info:
Speaking with Famitsu, the game's producer, Arc's Toshimichi Mori, said that he was shocked when Atlus came to them with the offer to work on the title. The BlazBlue team includes many fans of the Persona series, so their motivation for the project was very high, he said.

The Persona team didn't want to just have the BlazBlue team develop the game for them. Instead, they wanted the game to be a joint development project. According to Mori, game's director Takumi Iguchiya (whom you'll recognize as the lead programmer on the BlazBlue series) is working closely with the Persona team.

In addition to the commentary Mori, we have a list of modes that appears in Famitsu:

Arcade Mode: Face off against CPU opponents while following the story
Story Mode: Delve deeper into the arcade mode's story. This will be exclusive to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
Score Attack Mode: Face off against CPU opponents to get the high score
VS Mode: Face off against a CPU or human opponent
Online Battle: Face off against players throughout the world in online combat (I imagine that can be taken as confirmation of an international release...)
The game will include original stories for all its included characters, which come from both Persona 4 and Persona 3. The overarching story is set two months after the events of Persona 4. The characters appear on a fighting program called "P-1 Grand Prix."

The Ultimate in Mayonaka will be released first to arcades in Spring 2012. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will follow in the summer.

Lulz, P-1 Grand Prix. Fighting game stories, they're all bobbins. Actually, this one could be all right.

Dur. But look at Chie in that same pic. Different outfit.

...why didn't I see Chie? Seriously thought that was a sword or something (Shaddup, it's a small pic.) She looks like a park ranger? Again, small pic.

Yeah, there's a reason why they put it on Vita. PSP ain't strong enough to handle it. There's a reason why Persona 3 got dumbed down into a Visual Novel/point and click style.

Also nice to see I was right about the character costumes. Neat to also see Rise is included with the group. Always never made sense that she was never around despite being able to give advice from a distance. Made more sense in P3 since the two could speak telepathically with their abilities. I imagine the same will happen with Teddie during his first half, since he is pretty much following.

And dat Marie.

It's been pointed out to me that the colouring of Marie's hat and bag is similar to that of Velvet Room residents- there's also a massive V on her head, which I suppose could also represent Hierophant (if she does become a party member).

Also, Ultimate Midnight Arena will be showing at TGS next week, so I will be hype. The arcade board is the same as BBCS2, which will allow for easy patches to add new characters and rebalance whenever.

I've decided on a dream Midnight Arena roster:
Yu Narukami
Yosuke Hanamura
Yukiko Amagi
Kanji Tatsumi
Chie Satonaka

Aigis
Mitsuru Kirijo
Akihiko Sanada
Yukari Takeba
Ken Amada

Theo (boss character)
Margaret (boss character)

This would be awesome! Teddie's the 'host' of this whole thing so he'll be a boss character at best, Naoto and Aigis both use guns (yep, flawless reasoning) and ASW love gameplay variety, and Rise is some sort of announcer/cheerleader role thing.

I haven't seen anything like Rise below Aigis yet, but if it turns out she gets Fuuka as a support option (which may be unnecessary) then P3 will most definitely have a strong showing. Junpei uses a two-handed sword like P4 protagonist, and his role as 'comic relief' is easily taken over by Yosuke, and Koromaru doesn't seem conducive to the easy balancing of the first version of a game- maybe later on he can be added if they have time to devote to him? Oh yeah, Shinjiro and P3MC are DEAD, whereas I think Metis just ceased existing.

Which is lucky, as we have four characters left to fill spots! Ken can be the token short person, Akihiko is made for a fighting game (I imagine him like BB's Makoto, only without the revealing outfit and squirrel tail), Mitsuru's playstyle with fencing will be different to basic swords, and archers need representation in fighters so go Yukari!

And then the Velvet Room people have proven they can use Personae, and they switch between them in battle which could be exciting. To keep gender balance I decided to use Theo and Elizabeth, because he made his debut in P3P whereas she first appeared in P4.

Still, I can't see anyone who is a solid 'grappling' type right now. Maybe Kanji?

I love speculating, but I really do hope that this game gets DLC support after release, as well as balance patches.

The other side of speculation about Marie is that the V on her hat represents the roman numeral for 5, being another tease about Persona 5 by Atlus. Wouldn't be the first time they do something like this, as you can see the female teacher from Persona 4, as well as Vincent from Catherine both in Persona 3 Portable, with the latter being Vincent's first appearance prior to Catherine's release.

After that was pointed out to me yesterday, I keep thinking she'd be a replacement for Margaret Social Linkwise if V is for Velvet Room... and the fusion requests lead to other rewards.
