Look at the bottom one.

No lights, but does this mean that there will be store hours?

Dicuss, Debate, but do not flame, on this possibility.

Nah,I think the Stores will be open.

It wouldn't sound fare if you ran out of Pokeballs at night, and then you couldn't capture teh Pokemon obtainable at night.

Here is the pic:

I'm pretty sure that's a residential house and not a PokeMart, as... PokeMarts are typically blue and clearly labeled "Mart."

That is a residential house, and Serebii already stated that for "Evening" the houses would have lights, but at "Night" they would be off to show that people have gone to bed.

PokeMarts would be open 24/7... it wouldn't make sense for them to be closed at night as it would deter people from playing during that time.

Good observation Zora! But, hm...this is a weird thing. This might happen due to that this is a new generation. Though, I bet it is going to be open all day. But then I would have to disagree with me! XD, They might, MIGHT, close due to this has the Day and night feature in it. Though, why didn't they think of this in GSC? I mena, it would be better if they has it then....but mabye noe even MORE better that we wil have actualy lights here...So, they might not be open. But remember this might be possible because it says, And finally at Night, gone Midnight, it is dark and all the buildings lights are turned off to simulate the fact that nobody would be awake.

So, who knows...

When I saw the Pic, I was thinking all buildings would be like that, but whoever said the mart. In almost every Pokemon game, there is a place the mimics a mart, but actually is not. GSC had the store near the lake of rage, Kanto (Fr?Lg) had the outdoor mart, and I believe something else. Hoenn had the slateport mini-marts, so we need to include those too.

Edit: The lower-left part, compare with the one above it. It is actually off, the bright color makes it look on though

... if the lights are on, why would they be closed? It would make no sense. Those pictures show the neon light of the PokeMart on when all the other buildings' lights are turned off. It's open.

BTW, I think it's funny that the old guy is apparently sitting there. All day. Even at night. It's most likely just a test screen to advertise the day/night feature (and show that house lights go off but Mart lights stay on and therefore stay open), but it is funny nonetheless.

^ Some real stores keep lights on even when they are closed. Like at DisneyLand Resot's Downtown Disney always has lights on in there shopping district for a set amount of time even though the store is closed.]

Also my above post explains a second obersevation.

Since this gmae seems to be more "advanced" in technology than past games, maybe computers or robots control the checkout desk so they don't need sleep or it could just be they take over at night. It could provide a logical explanation.

It is not like Animal Crossing where the store can close without a huge effect in the game but people who play at night need a Pokemon Centre and PokeMart. What if they did close but the big PokeMarts in every game with five floors stayed open all night, that would be okay.

i think the Marts closing would be okay if they all had different hours. Maybe in some towns the mart is closed at night, others its closed during lunchtime, and in others still its closed in the morning. A couple marts(dept. stores, early marts) are open 24/7. If there are "unofficial stores" like in Slateport, they will have shorter open hours. Also, a sign will be posted out side each mart telling its hours. If save at a mart, and you get back on your game while its closed, the shopkeeper could shoo you out with a broom! XD

That would be interesting. Maybe there could be different sprites for morning/night to reflect day/night shifts.

that would be fun if they had different sprites in the marts and pokecenters

That's a pretty good idea. Maybe they could also swithcit up by having about maybe, 20 sprites boys and girls, with different color clothes, so the different marts have different people working there. They could do the same with nurses, have a couple different sprites so every Nurse isn't EXACTLY the same. This could be possible ,as this game seems to be paying even more attention to detail.

That's actually not a bad idea. That way, there would always be a Mart open for you to stock up on Pokeballs and stuff, so you wouldn't have to worry about the night feature interfering with catching Pokemon.

Btw, the building with the lights off looks like a house to me. I doubt it's a shop of any kind.

Let's do it!
It would be pretty cool if there were store hours, as it would at more realism to the game. And then you'd have to go to some thug in the alleys to buy stuff... hehe. Of course, this is why we have Wal-Mart and Walgreens.

And hey, store closings could promote sleep for kids, so if they run out of pokeballs they can't buy anymore til morning and so they have nothing else to do XP Well, you get my point.

I love Gangar's idea though. Especially the broom part :D

Na the stores will probably be closed (apart from pokecenter), you can guarantee there will be night time exclusives though.
