I thought the throwback was a nice surprise for long time viewers of the series, but it felt like the writers were out of ideas for a new episode, so they decided to rehash the Pikachu evolution subplot more out of unoriginality than nostalgia appeal.

A meh episode. I liked the fact Sho's Raichu wasn't sluggish, unlike Lt. Surge's Raichu, and the scene at the Pokemon Centre after Pikachu lost was chilling, but Paul wasn't needed, and TRio stealing the Thunderstone irked me.
