Depending on how high leveled you are you might be able to one shot Garchomp if your Tentacruel uses Ice Beam or Blizzard
That's True! With not being able to turn the exp.share off it's a realistic scenario. But I'm never to much overleveled. Otherwise the would be more easier then it already is.

Tentacruel's deceptively fast.. It's a beast in Nuzlockes.

There's a part of me that wants to use my original Diamond team of Torterra/Staraptor/Luxray/Lucario/Toxicroak/Floatzel, but another part of me that wants that team to be specifically unique. GenIV is my favorite generation, with a lot of strong ties to Sinnoh. I've used everything a handful of times so nothing in the dex will be new.

I have a feeling what I'll end up doing is just grabbing a bunch of things and doing a rotating party and just off feel. Hardest decision is going to be picking my starter. I love all 3 so much!
We're two weeks or so away and I'm still completely undecided on who I want to use. I think I've settled on starting with Turtwig for old time sake, but after that I'll probably just rotate as I go. The indecisiveness is killing me >_<

I'm really torn on my team, and its going to depend on whether certain Platinum elements, like the free Eevee from Bebe and more fire types, are included with the game.

Right now, I'm thinking about the following team for BD:
-Turtwig /Grotle/Torterra (Starter)
-Ponyta/Rapidash
-Buizel/Floatzel
-Umbreon (if I can get an Eevee from Bebe)
-Lucario
-Electabuzz/Electivire

And I'd have the following reserves to round out my early team or act as a specialist:
-Starly/Staravia/Staraptor
-Shinx/Luxio/Luxray
-Gallade (great for catching roaming Legendaries when it gets Mean Look as an Egg Move)
-Gardevoir
-Gengar (great for catching roaming Legendaries)
-Clefairy

If Eevee isn't available from Bebe, then I would replace Ponyta and Umbreon with the Houndour/Houndoom line for Fire and Dark and use Gardevoir as the 6th regular team member.

I have come to the conclusion that I am only going to pre-pick two of my team and just see where the adventure takes me after that. I will use my starter Chimchar and then use my Manaphy egg and travel with that duo for sure. I’ll probably pick up a grass type along the way at some point but not going to lock myself into anything. We’ll see where the routes take me.

Not entirely sure about this team yet, but aside from my starter I want to use pokemon I've never/barely used. And don't want a carbon copy of the mons everyone used during the initial gen 4 release.

So far my planned team is:
Infernape
Honchkrow
Gastrodon
Tangrowth
Glaceon

Not too sure on the 6th one. I've been thinking about Gliscor, Drifblim or Mismagius. Guess I'll see who I pick up along the way.

Think I have more or less settled on my Shining Pearl team.
Infernape
Manaphy
Gastrodon/Gliscor
Staraptor
Luxray
Clefable

One of the trailers showing the player using Gallade in the Tag Battle with Riley imply the Ralts line are usable in the main story but I used Gardevoir a fair amount already. Maybe I may put Roserade as part of a rotating team?

My BD team is mostly formed. I am pretty much using the same mons that I used back in the original game 14 years ago:

Torterra
Floatzel
Pachirisu
Honchkrow
Ambipom
(flex spot for whatever strikes my fancy in the Grand Underground)

I know some of these picks are pretty weird, but I love these guys.

I’m thinking of getting Pokémon Brilliant Diamond over Shinning Pearl and going with this team:

Torterra
Manaphy
Rampardos
Skutank
Lucario
Drifblim

The reason I’m going with Brilliant Diamond over Shinning Pearl even though Pokémon Pearl was my main version when it came between Diamond and Pearl is because two of the Pokémon I’m planning on using in BDSP are exclusive Brilliant Diamond.

It’s easier to just get Brilliant Diamond and catch a Stunky and get a Cranidos rather then having to trade for them or wait to be able to transfer some over.

Here is a question if all or most of the statues for the Pokémon including the other starters and past gen mons and past gen starters are available once you gain access to the Grand Underground will that impact your team in any way?

Like for instance will some people here might use all 3 Sinnoh starters on their team or past gen starters if they can get them before the post game.

Yes, if it's possible to catch Cyndaquil before post game, I will definitely have one in my team.

I will have a rotation team of 12 Pokémon:

Torterra
Staraptor
Luxray
Floatzel
Toxicroak
Garchomp
Heracross
Ambipom
Gliscor
Glalie or Froslass
Mr. Mime
Jirachi

If I can get Cyndaquil, I will replace Ambipom.

I'm hoping that they do Platinum-dex and Mega's (and if they do, let them be available pre postgame).

I've played Platinum to death, so there's a big chance I'm going nuzlocke on these.

A lot of pokemon have become better since gen4. Stuff like Luxray has a vastly better moveset in terms of diversity then simply only being able to run Spark+Crunch (maybe Ice/Fire Fang if you felt like breeding, but I already was attached to the one I caught by that point). But after looking up its Gen8 moveset.. It only learns Wild Charge at level 80 and Crunch in the 50ties.. so SOMETHING is still horribly off. The elemental Fangs are TM's so they should be available.

Quoting my 6 months old post....

1. Brrr....
2. Brrrr....
3. Probably going to do as much...
4. Stuff like Luxray.. Yeah.. Ouch.. Psychic Fang, Throat Chop, Superpower, PlayRough, and elemental Fangs only as Egg Moves.
5. Something is still horribly off. :(

I'm debating on whether or not to have a West Coast Shellos for my Brilliant Diamond team. I wasn't considering using one before since Gastrodon was overused in SWSH's meta, but I'm really considering it since the design really appeals to me, it fits with my connection theme due to its typing and the whole gimmick of having two different forms connected to each coast, and it could be a good water type alternative if I decide not to use Manaphy. If I get one though, it'll have to be a West Coast form since Galar only had the East Coast form.

I've got this planned for a early team with transfers in mind.

Chimchar (Beginning Starter)
Eevee (Need to decide which Eevee-lution will be a good option? Umbreon or Espeon.
Piplup (transferred starter from pokemon go)
Turtwig (transferred starter from pokemon go)
Togetic (transferred pokemon) Can Dawn Stone be obtained early?

Pokémon Home compatibility won’t be available until 2022 and that means no Pokémon Go compatibility until that time. You’ll be waiting a while before you could theoretically do that.

I'm definitely getting both games, since the original DP were my first ever Pokemon games and I'm excited as hell to play them! Think I'll do what I'm doing with SwSh right now and play both at the same time, rotating between games after every gym.

That being said, these are my teams:
Brilliant Diamond:

Shining Pearl:

These were my original team plans way back in August - a mixture of my first Pearl team that I completed the game with, my original Diamond choices and some new additions that became my favourites as I grew up (or are now available thanks to Mystery Gift). This has now changed, both because I'm now only getting Brilliant Diamond (will no doubt get Shining Pearl later on, but for now I'm sticking with one game) and because of datamining/leaks which have or are starting to clarify what Pokemon are available where, alongside what to expect in the post-game and other factors.

With that in mind, my team plan is now... unclear! I genuinely have no idea who to use. Any of the starters could be chosen, or maybe even all 3 if I have friends about to trade me some eggs (I won't be playing BD until Christmas anyway). Staraptor and Luxray are likely additions given how iconic they are (and both were on my original Pearl team) but if Electivire is available early on I'll definitely be using that? Staraptor could easily be replaced by Honchkrow or Togekiss depending on movesets/availability respectively, and then the other 3 team members could be anything so long as they're Pokemon from Sinnoh. Ambipom / Toxicroak / Hippowdon have been more recent considerations alongside the ol' reliable Roserade / Lucario / Leafeon / Rampardos, so I'll make full use of me playing the game a month late to see when certain Pokemon are available and if I can get a full squad by the 5th gym! Should be fun.

I think I'll just have a massive rotating roster with Torterra and Manaphy as the staple 2.

Probably use a bit of all sinnoh pokemon.

I think I figured out my Brilliant Diamond team for the most part. I'm limiting myself to 10 pokemon for now, but I may add two more later so I have enough reserves for the EXP Share system. I'm also trying to figure out the 10th pokemon:
Main Team:

I made a few changes after seeing which pokemon are available in the main story. I'm still going to try and get Porygon-Z in the beginning because I've wanted to use the line in a main playthrough for 25 YEARS, but I'll wait until the postgame to get Yanmega

Okay, since you get the ExpShare.. I think I'm going to do a quick Steel-run (with maybe Jirachi), then a speedy Water-run (including Phione (not Manaphy)) so I can understand the games a bit. Then I'll do a run with my planned BD-team, which needs a bit of tweaking based on available options/exclusives.
