Can we please get the older, old forum back?
I played Platinum and the Porygon line is confirmed to appear so i have hope that they are going to use the Platinum Dex

With HMs

Torterra, Garchomp, Lucario, Staraptor, Birabel (HM slave) and Golem (Another HM slave)

Without HM

Torterra, Garchomp, Lucario, Staraptor, Luxray and Gyarados

Okay, I know this probably was a typo.. But you just made me have to nickname my Bidoof Birabel, and pronounce it as Be Rebel. Or just Brebble. Or just Breb.. I don't know.

At the bare minimum I'll be importing each of the three Sinnoh starters by using Pokemon HOME and Pokemon GO Transporter. That will cover getting some of the pokedex entries.

If we get any extended pokedex Platinum or National instead of a base pokedex, doesn't matter if it becomes available in a later update then i've got several spares in Pokemon HOME i've got in mind including Greninja Chespin and a few others.

Pokemon Go Transporter is pretty busted. I mean with the Community Days, I could pretty much send over 10 shinies of each starter until I have one with a decent nature even. I mean what would be the fun of having a shiny Infernape if it got a Relaxed-nature or something.. :p

Chespin actually seems pretty OP typewise! :p I mean:
- Grass -> Roark
- Grass = Gardenia
- Grass/Fighting = Maylene (> Lucario)
- Grass -> Wake
- Grass = Fantina
- Grass/Fighting > Byron
- Grass/Fighting => Candice (if using Fighting-type moves with Chesnaught).
- Grass -> Electric (resistance).

I always find it interesting when people don’t keep their starters. I don’t think I’m capable of going that route.

I agree, it's actually quite refreshing though. Somehow that Grass/Fire/Water-core is hardwired into our Pokémon mainframe, at least with me it is to some degree.

I think it comes down to when picking a team, most people pick teams based on aeshetics and the three starters are designed to have something that's appealing for most target audiences so unless a region is packed with a lot of favorites, the starter is likely to stay. That and how much we like to tell ourselves that these are just bits in a game, we kinda bond with the starter.

Hoenn for instance is packed with good picks - and Sceptile is right up my alley (fast, slick design, dinosaur'esque).. But I usually tend to go with Blaziken since I like so many other Grass-types and Water-types in Hoenn as well (Breloom, Shiftry and Tropius in particular). I mean outside of OrAs (Mega Sceptile adds a valuable Dragon-typing), Blaziken just fills the hole in my team so much better, because otherwise I will end up with three Grass-types on my team by the end of the run. xD

But then again, that entire 'hole' is just a perceived notion that I somehow need to complete a Grass/Fire/Water-core and thus I need to pick the Fire/Fighting-type in Hoenn of all regions. Even the Ice-type specialist has Water-types..

Torkoal and Camerupt are not my bro's.

However, I could see a playthrough happening in Emerald where I'd ditch the starter and get Houndour as my Fire-type in the Safari Zone. It's Dark-type would help against Tate&Liza and Phoebe (outside of being weak to Claydol, Solrock and Lunatone's Ground/Rock-moves)... >.>

Those are great picks that synergize really well! Empoleon is weak to Electric, Ground and Fighting and Gliscor is immune to Electric and Ground and resists Fighting, while Gliscor's Ice and Water-type weaknesses gets covered by Empoleon's Water and Ice resistance. Gliscor's movepool in particular is incredibly versatile as well.

My aim for the remakes is to use only Sinnoh Pokemon--while avoiding those lines I chose during my original DP playthroughs (with the exception of Torterra). The resulting lineups are rather bizarre (at least, in my opinion):

Brilliant Diamond
Torterra
Bronzong
Lumineon
Luxray
Skuntank
Chatot

Shining Pearl
Empoleon
Cherrim
Hippowdon
Toxicroak
Mothim
Purugly

All I can say is that you're going to have a rough time against Cynthia in BD. I agree with using Sinnoh-only pokémon. I don't see a reason why I would want to go for Gyarados outside of Nuzlocke's for example. It's a powerful pokémon, but it's solely a Kanto pokémon for me.

I like to do type-challenges and the Burmy-line is essential early game if you're doing Grass, Ground or especially Steel. I allow myself Piplup during a Steel-run, but then I have to get a Burmy as soon as possible since Trash Cloak Wormadam carries me. :p Mothim is at least interesting. :p

Torterra (starter)
Infernape (bred from my first-ever Pokémon)
Empoleon (bred from my starter from my second Sinnoh playthrough)
Togekiss
Glaceon

Unsure about my sixth member. Though I'll probably rotate a bunch of Pokémon so this might not be my team, just some main members.

You're missing these types:
- Normal
- Electric
- Bug
- Poison
- Rock
- Psychic
- Ghost
- Dragon
- Dark

If you're looking for dual-types and not trying to overlap with types you already have, two obvious picks would be Drapion and Skuntank. There's also Spiritomb as a Ghost/Dark-type. Another pick could be Rotom as an Electric/Ghost-type.

From your current picks, I don't think any of these are really a match as your current picks are either a starter or very nice looking and my suggestions aren't really fair-looking.. :p

Eh, ragazzo!
I will probably have Torterra and Toxicroak on my team, but I'm unsure who else will make it for right now.

I guess it depends on what Pokemon are available prior to the E4.

I’m planning on going with:

-Empoleon
-Gliscor
-Mismagius
-Lucario
-Roserade
-Garchomp

Jeez, the Sinnoh region really has the best selection of Pokémon, doesn’t it? So many awesome options to choose from.

If the games only have the Diamond/Pearl Dex - Empoleon, Roserade, Luxray, Rapidash, Staraptor and Garchomp in BD.

If the games have Platinum's Dex - Empoleon, Leafeon, Electivire, Gliscor, Garchomp and Gallade in BD.

The four I know I’m going to go for are these:
  • Gallade
  • Roserade
  • Togekiss
  • Altaria

Based on prior Sinnoh games, those should all be relatively easily available. That said, my next two are going to be dependent on transfer/trade possibilities, and might need to be replaced:
  • Latias
  • Shiny Latios

If they’re not available, then I’m not totally sure what I would replace them with. I’d like to keep the aesthetic of the team cohesive, so that’s what makes it a bit difficult. Getting a Shaymin, if it’s available this time around, would be a great candidate to replace one of them, but I’m lost on what my sixth would be in that case.

They’ll all be in Premier Balls, too, but that won’t be hard to accomplish.
