Please Help me with Heracross

This is my heracross:

Swarm
Jolly

Moveset to be:
Rock Slide
Brick Break/Earthquake
Megahorn
Swords Dance

Its IVs are:
31 for HP/ATK/SPDEF/SPATK
22 Defence (sucks, I know)
27 Speed

I will probably Max its Attack,

The only (major) problem I have with this is whether or not 252 SPD EVs will be enough to out run things like starmie (which my Salamence Adamant can at 299 speed) and things like Zapdos are my main concerns

If it is to have 252EVs in speed it will be 291 and I plan to put 6EVs into defence to bring it up to 178 and I was wondering whether or not I should put another 8EVs into defence to make it 180

I prefer Focus Punch over Brick Break or earthquake since Megahorn will do more damage on anything than brick break after a SD. I go with Guts normally but those IVs are so amazing you can't really not use it. I think that will be enough speed.

No, don’t ever put Earthquake on Heracross or any other Fighting type
(except for Primeape or Hitmonchan I guess).

A STABed Fighting attack will do more damage than an Earthquake and both of them cover basically the same types.

Also, Holy Crap, those are amazing IVs! O_O

thanks I think that the only hinderance is that defence should have been flawless over sp attack but when diamond and pearl come out, breeding will be a beast with this.

So EV wise: Max attack, Max Speed and 6 in defence?

and one more thing, should I go focus punch or brick break cuz I suck at predicting in-game and from experience, in the later battles they usually use sweeping rather than stat lowering or stuff like that.

yeah I guess, but I prefer swarm because after a swords if it takes a hit (assume non-super effective) its orange health and then I can take advantage of swarm for Megahorn, I find is the attack I use most on heracross, and if I can get ahold of salac berry later on, I'll use it as a reversaler (or clone one to be) and thus guts would be useless, I have a guts adamant one with same moveset except with bulk up because its slower and I try to make it stick around

This pokemon took me a couple of days to breed, believe me and it was pretty worth it, shame it didn't have maxxed defence, oh well, its not bad in the end is it?

wow your heracross is so good..............its fine...just make sure its train to its max level

It’s Heracross. Defense doesn’t matter. Heracross is not supposed to wall physical attacks. And 22 is a really good IV. Anything over 20 is above average.

^ Seconds Brick Break. However, you might want to think about Facade instead of Swords Dance. It's what I use, and works just fine. It's just a thought, and if you do use Facade, you could also use a Choice Band.

thanks I'll try that for my adamant Guts one, thats a good idea, but I won't use it on this swarm one.

yeah, I already have an adamant guts one, I am gonna try both since there are pros and cons so I'm currently trialing both as I wanna finish frontier before eng diamond and pearl come out

btw I just finished EVing it

and its now level 38, fully EVed, 252 atk/spd and 4 defence (and it turns out its speed and defence was acctually 28 and 23 respectively which is now, even better, though its not by much be we'll see) so at 100 its gonna be 179 def (might take one off attack and put it in defence, I like round numbers what do you guys think?) 349 attack and 292 speed

Like I said earlier, don’t worry so much about Defense, it doesn’t matter. You're Heracross is already awesome.

Personally I think HP EVs work better than Def EVs in 'cross. You're not going to be leaving it in against something that uses Flying attacks, so Def EVs aren't really needed that much.

And those are great EVs: congratulations on all that hard work you've put into breeding it.

Is there any advantage to 292 speed over 290? because its just a waste of 8 EVs if not and I might as well put it in HP or something like Frost Nova said
