I call it battle team because it's for real person battling, not netbattle (so I can't dictate IVs and multiple moves of the sameone time move tutor, or get Pokemon like Celebi). Now the team!

Charizard
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 128 Atk / 128 SAtk / 252 Spd
Rash Nature
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power (Electric, 39 base damage)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake

Scizor
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Silver Wind
- Agility
- Return
- Swords Dance

Gengar
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Mild Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Confuse Ray
- Destiny Bond
- Curse

Breloom
Trait: Spore
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Spore
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Iron Tail

Xatu
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naughty Nature
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Wish
- Giga Drain

Tentacruel
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 116 Atk / 176 Spd / 218 SAtk
Serious Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sludge Bomb
- Ice Beam
- Surf

Some reasons:
Charizard - Charizard is my favorite Pokemon, so I'm using him. I don't really care too much for a straight up Bellyzard, and I figured a mixed sweeper might not be too bad. I tried to mate for a high powered grass hp, or even a grass hp in general. This was the only Charmander that didn't have HP Ghost, Rock, or Fighting.

Scizor - Just a cool pokemon with some really powerful attacks. I like the traits and the STABed Silver Wind. Poison immunity is always nice.

Gengar - Shiny Gengar, so I can't get egg moves, change it's nature, etc. Shiny with a good nature is the main reason I'm using it. I think I was going to give it Psychic, but can't decide what move to replace for it.

Breloom - Spore on a really fast and strong Pokemon is so nice. That's all really.

Xatu - Shiny Xatu, so I can't get egg moves, change it's nature, etc. If it weren't Shiny, I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but since it has a decent nature I gave it a shot.

Tentacruel - Shiny Tentacruel, so I can't give egg moves, change it's nature, etc. Good moveset that covers a lot of ground. It finally finalized my water Pokemon, after changing it about 6 times.

I think I need a supporting Baton Passer or something. I'm thinking along the lines of Umbreon, but I'm not sure, and Xatu would probly come out for it. I also need help deciding on what items should be used on who for competitive battling.

Adamant Nature

Can't help you with EVs here, but you'll need to focus on Defense, as this is your best bet at walling stuff physically... LOL.

Gengar
Trait: Levitate

Hasty Nature
- Thunderbolt

Charizard is overrated.

Scizor - Just a cool pokemon with some really powerful attacks. I like the traits and the STABed Silver Wind. Poison immunity is always nice.

Read what I said for Scizor above...

Gengar - Shiny Gengar, so I can't get egg moves, change it's nature, etc. Shiny with a good nature is the main reason I'm using it. I think I was going to give it Psychic, but can't decide what move to replace for it.

We don't care if it's shiny. This is not show-and-tell.

Breloom - Spore on a really fast and strong Pokemon is so nice. That's all really.

Breloom isn't fast...

Xatu - Shiny Xatu, so I can't get egg moves, change it's nature, etc. If it weren't Shiny, I wouldn't have given it a second thought, but since it has a decent nature I gave it a shot.

Once again, we don't care...

Tentacruel - Shiny Tentacruel, so I can't give egg moves, change it's nature, etc. Good moveset that covers a lot of ground. It finally finalized my water Pokemon, after changing it about 6 times.

Yet again, we don't care...

BoltBeam > your team. Special attackers > your team.

Charizard might be overrated, but as I said he's my favorite Pokemon and I wanted a way to use him that wasn't Bellyzard. As for Gengar, Tentacruel, and Xatu, I only mentioned they were Shiny as to explain why I couldn't change their natures or get egg moves. Some of you may not care, but I like to use my shinies when possible. As I said in my bottom paragraph, I'm close to removing Xatu for something like Umbreon so I have some sort of support Pokemon. Breloom may not be "really fast" like I said, but he isn't exactly slow either. As for HP Rock, is there a second choice kind of thing incase I don't have time to re-breed (or have time but end up not getting a Rock one)? And what's Mach Punch for anyway? I heard it's for against Tyranitar, but Breloom is faster than him anyway (70 vs 61). And I also forgot to mention this is FR so I can't get Emerald Move Tutors like Ice Punch for Gengar, so would Psychic be good in it's place?

Mach Punch is for the last hit type thing. Considering Breloom is uncommon I've been caught off guard by it many a time (you switch in some weakling but fast Pogey with 25% of it's HP left expecting a switch and then "POW!" dead).

Alternatives to HP Rock: Sludge Bomb, Stun Spore (for double-spore which is awesome), Snatch, Leech Seed (with Sub in Mach Punch's place). Those are the mainly used options, other things which have potential coolness: Charm and Counter.

Go Shadow Ball > Ice Punch on Gar IMO. Shadow Ball is better in more situations than Psychic by my count.

Then use Sword Dance Charizard. And for the record, non-power 60+ Hidden Powers = crap.

Charizard @ Leftovers
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Flamethrower

[Note: Off the top of my head]

Scizor
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Silver Wind
- Agility
- Baton Pass
- Swords Dance
Needs more Baton Pass.

Gengar
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Mild Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Confuse Ray
- Destiny Bond
- Curse
Makes baby jesus cry.

No, you need walls. It's all well and good having a mix match of UUs and Uncommon OUs (and Gengar) but you give 'Kazam a Calm Mind or Salamence a DD and everything goes splat. As chaos952 pointed out you're wide open to Bolt-Beam. You'll need to scrap 2 or 3 Pokemon to make this team Competitively workable by NetBattle standards but no idea who this is for. Considering that Nintendo's battling champion won with Hyper Beam this'll probably do just fine.

In my book:

Scrap Scizor. As a BPer he can't contribute enough to this team. Put in a REAL physical wall in his place.

Ditch Xatu. Put in a proper special wall in his place.

Ditch Charizard/Tentacruel/Breloom for a 3rd wall, either a double-wall or a second physical or special wall to cover the other 1's armor-chinks (like what Claydol is to Skarmory or what Metagross is to Weezing).

Ah, Mach Punch makes sense then. Does Snatch always steal the secondary effects of a move, or does the effect have to activate (example being if I snatch an Ice Beam that somehow doesn't kill me (be it by Substitute or whatever), would they freeze or not)?

As for Shadow Ball, isn't that an attack based move? Gengar has pretty low attack which is why I was thinking maybe Psychic. As for the bad moveset, I think I stopped working on him a couple months back after giving him Thunderbolt and began my multi-month Charmander breeding.

What sort of walls would be the best bets (by sorts of walls, I mean what are some good Pokemon of each type that aren't Blissey/Skarmory/Suicune/Forretress/Weezing)? I try try not to use OU Pokemon unless I have it shiny or if it's Charizard. And any ideas for items for the team as a whole? This is for Nintendo's 10th Anniversery Mall Tour thing, so whatever rules they generally use is what I'm basing the team on.

It doesn't snatch offensive moves. It snatches stat-boosting/non-offensive moves such as Substitute (which is pretty commonly used in an attempt to block Spore), Sword Dance, etc.

Keep in midn that most Psychics and Ghosts have bad defense. Max Attack Gengar does awesome damage with Super effective Shadow Balls. Psychic covers... not very much. Fighting types... who will have switched out from you since their core attacks won't land or they'll stay in an OHKO you because they have HP Ghost/Shadow Ball (and you won't OHKO them with Psychic in most cases). They'll also OHKO the Poison types who... won't stay in anyway because Thunderbolt hurts them enough and like mentioend before, their core attack isn't landing.

Then ditch Gengar, Scizor and Breloom who are all OUs (albeit the latter two are uncommon OUs but OU nonetheless). Since your list doesn't incldue Regice or Snorlax, those 2 are 1st mentions as top special walls. As for physical walls, you neutered my choices badly by taking out 'zing and Skarm but you still have stuff like: Meta and Rhydon alongside some anti-EQ/DD-mence support, such as Zapdos or Claydol.

Leftovers for them all. Maybe Lum Berry if you have concerns about status attacks on certain pokes (I.E Charizard or Tentacruel).

Last I checked they liked 3 team battles with item clause on and no sleep-clause or anti-Uber rule. In other words, unless you use ubers you'll get owned hard. Especially when using UUs.

Talentless "Trainer" with Mewtwo using the classic Confusion/Hyper Beam/Blizzard/Fire Blast set will still beat a mostly UU team on sheer stats alone [Based on paper, this does not take into account luck or just general stupidity such as using Hyper Beam on Aggron. So people who wanna point me otu as wrong can stfu].

Skarm's (at least it was him iirc) team of Eggytaur, Groudon and Blissey looked pretty solid on paper but it needs someone who knows how to use it to go far. Either way, mess around with some ubers if you wanna succeed in my book.

The second-place trainer was Skarm from Smogon? Wow...

Anyway, from what I've learned from my experience is that almost any team can be good at link-up battles if you know how to battle well.
The only things he should change are Charizard's Hidden Power (Aerial Ace> that HP), Scizor's Return (Steel Wing, anyone?), and Gengar's Curse (give it some other Special Attack, please). Other than that, I think it's fine.

Hmm, not sure exactly why I overlooked Steel Wing on Scizor. It would be 105 damage vs Return's 100 right? I'll have to fix that once I finally my team, if he makes the cut (or if I have a lot of it's spare TMs, as a 'might as well' kinda thing).

For Charizard, I kindof like the Swords Dance version. If I were to go that route, and used a Hidden Power, I know I have some Charmanders with Rock, Ghost, and Bug HPs, so if I ended up having a 60+ power one (with a good nature of course), should I use it? *edit - Just checked, apparently I only have one Adament Charmander left and it's HP is Fire, but I could use a Lonely or Naughty Charmander instead, which might be better so I can still effectively use Flamethrower*

*edit - Just did some tests on HP types; one Naughty had Rock, another Naughty that had Belly Drum had Fighting, another Naughty that had Dragon Dance had Rock, and the lonely had Ice.*

About dropping the OU Pokemon, like I said that doesn't apply if I own the shiny version, like Gengar, but I wasn't aware Scizor and Breloom were OU, thought they were somewhere inbetween OU and UU.

In regards to the Nintendo rules: item-clause is no two of the same item in your party correct? I can understand the lack of a sleep-clause, but do they really allow legendaries? Seems odd since they don't allow them to be used in Colloseum or XD's in-game tournaments.

What exactly does 3 team battles mean? Is it three 2 on 2 battles, or one 2 on 2 battle with just 3 Pokemon? I would look it up on the Mall Tour info but they said they won't post that until next week sometime.
