I myself wanted him to lose to morty in first try and then win it in rematch instead of losing to whitney especially since that was his first time challenging ghost type specialist. Ash vs morty was the second best gym battle in johto after claire one.

IIRC, Morty was one of the most recurring Gym leaders in the Johto saga.

Alistair could be how Ash finds out Gengar has a G-Max form, besides who says Ash has to use Gengar in that fight?
They could always add another Ghost type Gmax in the DLC that Alistair can use as well

It'd be annoying if Alistair got cut, we rarely ever see Ash battle Ghost specialists

That's what I've been saying since TR got Chewtle
This. IIRC Ash had interest in Torkoal after seeing Flannery's.

There is no reason why the gym leaders won’t appear. We’ve seen many gym leaders whose ace has appeared before them. Including Kahunas, Lycanroc appeared way before Olivia, Persian way before Nanu, Gogoat appeared way before Ramos, Slyvion appeared before Valarie etc. Gardenia had a Turtwig even if Ash had one. So there is no reason not to make them appear. Also with PWC, all 10 can appear. If it was normal gym challenge, only 8 of them would appear.

They can have Gengar vs Gengar showdown with Allister.
All of this. People are writing off the Galar Gym Leaders way too fast with little to no evidence.

I would suggest that Ash would keep an unevolved Impidimp since kids may find it more appealing than Grimmsnarl, but at the same time I feel that line is more fitting for Team Rocket & they'd likely send it to headquarters so it can get used for the Gotcha Machine.

I think the species is fine in the sense that I could envision it being on either a protagonist's team or a villain's team. And if Satoshi does capture one, at least it could fill the Dark-type role on Satoshi's team. Not that I think he needs a Dark-type to begin with, but I've noticed that there's been a lot of emphasis by fans about Satoshi using every type in this series for reasons that I don't agree with, but I digress.

The overall episode count for this series could very well be reduced when all is said and done unless gen 9 gets pushed back a year too, possibly resulting in extra episodes. I would expect only filler episodes get scrapped, but they'll probably never tell us what was cut. They said from the beginning that is series would be less serialized than others anyways so it shouldn't be a huge difference, fewer pointless captures for Go I guess.

I was thinking this saga was going to be 4 years anyways. It or Gen 9 was going to have to be if they wanted Gen 10 on the the 30th anniversary year (2026).

On the topic of May’s voice actor being retired. I remember someone telling me that a retired voice actor came back to voice a character in this series already. If anyone knows what I’m talking about, feel free to chime in!.

The difference is May's VA Kaori literally cannot act anymore. She has a throat disease that hinders her speech patterns, so while she can speak normally in every day conversation, putting on a voice (remember her voice for Haruka is higher pitched because she's voicing a kid) is a strain on her. Even when May came back for the Wallace Cup in DP, Japanese fans were saying how she didn't sound the same and that was way back in 2008.

They won't recast her because unlike Prof Oak's VA who passed away in the middle of SM, Kaori is still alive, so it is disrespectful. It's far more likely that May simply never shows up in the anime ever again. They can bring back many other old female companions if they wanted so it's not like May would even be the first choice for a return anyway.

Given there will be a hiatus regarding new episodes airing, I hope once new episodes come out, they will only remove the filler episodes. there should be no fast forwarding important storylines.

I suppose if Gou caught anything in those filler episodes they can just post something in a magazine about them. "Gou caught these off-screen or in the lost episodes".

If the show goes on hiatus for a long time (like 3-6 months), I can see a large chunk of this saga changing from what was originally intended. Most likely a lot of world tournament battles will either be off-screen or cut, and potential old character returns won't happen now. Remember if they lose months of airings, there's no way to get that time back (since only 1 new ep will air a week most likely when we come back, and it'll be the eps shown in the preview with Sonia, Sobble, etc.), so everything after that or whatever the last ep they wrote will likely be drastically changed. I wonder if the returns for Kalos or Alola were even planned to happen around the time they stopped writing new eps.

Well we'll see for now i think it is only for two months if not idk as seen via news section this v we encourage you all to stay healthy okay?

TV Tokyo have put out their schedule and have removed the already planned episodes from their schedules from next week onwards, putting reruns of episodes on instead. This is due to production being halted due to the global crisis. At present it's unclear when new episodes of the anime will return but we'll post as soon as we get details

The global Crisis mentioned is corona virus and the quarantine for staying at home order by mayors so yeah i get this so as soon this is over let us know via new episodes i don't want them to be banned okay?

Smash has its DLC being worked on during this so it’s possible the same is happening for Pokémon

I think it’s important to point out that in all likelihood the next set of games will be delayed. At this point aside from the DLC everything will probably be shifted back so it’s probably not going to have as a big of an impact as some people think it will.

It was here. Cynthia's VA had retired but she voiced Koharu's mom on the her focus episode.

The difference is May's VA Kaori literally cannot act anymore. She has a throat disease that hinders her speech patterns, so while she can speak normally in every day conversation, putting on a voice (remember her voice for Haruka is higher pitched because she's voicing a kid) is a strain on her. Dawn would be the most logical choice. Megumi Toyoguchi seems to have a stable carreer, having even come back to voice-acting after a self-imposed hiatus to tend for her newborn baby. Plus, Dawn is a former co-star and has a Piplup. All odds are on Dawn's favor if the staff want to bring her back.

Probably not.

I fully expect the games to get affected by this pandemic too, there's a lot of talk about the DLC getting pushed back. Obviously nothing concrete, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

I think it's a bit different. Not an expert but I'm fairly confident most of the work can be done on home-office. The GF studio would be free only for the tasks that requires very specific hardware that can't be brought home.
