That's by amount of Pokemon he has, but by power he's Fire specialist: Charizard, Incineroar, Infernape,Torkoal and Talonflame.

It doesn't matter if it came close, it didn't win, a draw would've been somewhat impressive i'll give you that but it couldn't manage that either, Pignite and Quilava(as a cyndaquil) had lots of impressive victories under their belt despite never facing legendary pokemon themselves (and the entei from the 3rd movie does not count because it wasn't real) in combat which more than proves their existence and obtainment was worth it, compared to Torkoal who has like 3 victories under it's belt, and none really all that impressive.

heck I would say the fact that it got one shot by Darkrai who didn't even need to put it to sleep says a lot in itself, because it pretty much negates the Registeel battle as a whole as your asking where's that endurance it had in the previous fight?

Torkoal should've never been captured due to how poorly it was used, because like Palpitoad in unnova it got to a point where you wondered if it even existed at points due to how rarely it was seen compared to the others(I mean I know Totodile and Noctowl didn't do much in jouto major battle wise but we still got to see them a lot to make up for it, Torkoal not only had a bad loss record but was hardly ever used as well), if things were gonna be like that I would've rather Ash forgone fire in hoenn than what they ended up doing.

The only way Torkoal can be redeemed imho, is if Ash faces someone who is able to beat one of Ash's powerhouses in one blow (i'm not talking about Dragonite, but say Charizard, Snorlax, Sceptile, Infernape or Greninja) and Torkoal beat that pokemon in one blow itself.

I know it's a tall order but that's the only way it can be redeemed to me, otherwise it will remain the most worthless capture Ash ever got.

It's more like Noivern was supposed to serve as some replacement for Goodra but it ofc didn't go so well and then they never bothered filling the last spot and just went straight to getting Goodra back who then got shafted and then back at the Swamp.

Eh stuff like this doesn't really indicate captures. Except maybe Sirfetch'd cause G-Farfetch'd being a thing with Ash.

Victories =/= feats. Torkoal is stronger than Quilava and Pignite because of that feat no matter if he lost, he made him kneel which automatically set Torkoal above both of them.
What feats they have to be put above Torkoal's? Quilava tied with Armaldo and that's it LMAO.
PIgnite beat Hydreigon that Boldore and Oshawott battled and beat Ferrothorn. Pignite > Quilava but obviously Torkoal is above them.

No, it doesn't negate Registeel battle lmao. Learn what progression is. That means Darkrai is stronger than BF Registeel which is proven because Darkrai could defeat 6 Pokemon that are above 8 gym leader's or other strongest gym leader's or comparable to them.

That's writers' fault of not making Ash use his Pokemon. This happens in every season even now: Gengar. So if we go by your logic Ash shouldn't have captured some other Pokemon because they were rarely used not just Palpitoad. Lol.

That's pretty much stupid redemption lol.1. That would be used for literally every Pokemon Ash rarely used. 2. You literally said yourself problem with Torkoal is that he's rarely used, what point stands that he must be used in a battle when Pokemon can one shot Snorlax, Charizard etc LOL. Shouldn't redemption be like Ash using Torkoal in his current team and have interactions with others(some on-screen time) and to have some PWC battles( no matter strength).
