That's not what "walking pokemon" means. It means a pokemon that's rarely inside it's ball.
I have just been back to the anime because of how cool it sounds for Ash to battle his way to the strongest trainer in the world, so honestly, as long as the battle is nicely choreographed, has watchable animation, and great strategies I will be satisfied, I couldn't care less about Ash winning or losing, I just want to see his battle.
It's hard to distinguish jokes from people just being stupid, especially on this site.

I'll call them "Bursters", those who often burst out of their pokéball on their own to do funny stuff.
