Pocket Monsters (2019) Speculation Thread

Lover of underrated characters
Well, if it's just Bulbasaur and Charizard in the Squirtle episode and the Brock/Cilan episode was strictly Pikachu... who's getting the short stick as the 5 Pokemon per episode sure didn't happen?
Unfezant would deserve it
Kingler is probably going to get it

Hard to say. It depends on what the episode demands. By now, it's safe to say Ash's starters are guaranted to appear in any combinations in the remaining episodes.

But, I think torterra and snivy can be shafted for infernape and pignite. Quilava and bayleef could or not be used. And greninja is sure reappearing.

Well let’s see when it comes to Ash’s starters in terms of which ones have shown up in episodes 1-5 it breaks down like this:

Episode 1: Sceptile
Episode 2: Totodile & Rowlet
Episode 4: Oshawott & Incineroar
Episode 5: Bulbasaur, Charizard & Squirtle

So this leaves the following Pokémon left when it comes to Ash’s staters that haven’t appeared in this mini series yet:

Bayleef
Quilava
Torterra
Infernape
Snivy
Pignite
Greninja

Interesting thing to note is out of these remaining starters Ash’s Snivy is the only that hasn’t evolved at least once.

Joltik-Kid

Careful? Where's the fun in that?

I bet it's both honestly

Snivy's still pretty popular, I could see Attract shenanigans one more time possibly.

Unfortunately, I think Muk and Tauros will probably remain at Oak's Lab.

Ash being replaced as MC has really got me obsessing on all the “what could have been” captures now that he’s leaving. I’m not really sure why. Especially on the idea of the anime staff or even just Rica herself (being Satoshi’s voice actor) would give us something official on the matter. I don’t care how many as long as each region gets a few (with Galar and Paldea getting enough captures to round off at six so each region can have a full team I’d be good).

That said them revealing a full 151 list of Ash’s current 57 (the ones on the final series poster) + 94 from all the current regions would be incredible though. Like imagine them picking all sorts of stuff from the popular to really niche choices (like something you normally wouldn’t consider for Ash) would be cool. Like showing Ash can connect and work with any kind of Pokémon.

The fact that the anime has been nonchalant with Ash no longer being the main protagonist of the future series, raises my beliefs that they have other plans for him, which is why this 11 episode mini-arc feels less climatic and more open-ended to Ash's story. I expect to see Ash sometime in the future, especially now that he is literally hailed as the king of pokemon battles, being the strongest trainer, which makes him figuratively a bench mark for future protagonist of the series, that want to excel in pokemon battles, just like how Yugi was in dule monsters.

I feel like the Pokemon that already had focus episodes in Journeys, like Greninja, Infernape, Mr.Mime and the Journeys team, may be skipped for the mini series. I would want them to appear but Pokemon writers like to make these types of decisions.

That leaves 24 of the Pokemon he currently owns.

Probably.

I mean, MPM 06 is about pikachu and MPM 07 is for Lapras.

Not counting they need one episode to wrap up latias plot and one for Gary. I kinda doubt primeape or pidgeot would have their own episodes, maybe larvitar and naganadel or solgaleo.

well folks, based on what we know so far from the future mini-series titles ( 6, 7, 8, 9) and previous episodes that have aired, I assume the point of this mini-series is to tell the fans what will become of Ash after achieving his goal of being a pokemon master. He'll just simply travel the world, meet new pokemon, and possibly compete in more tournaments. Which is basically nothing new from what we seen him do from the original series.

Other than that, so far i'm fairly disappointed with how this mini-arc is wrapping up. Honestly, I did expected some episodes to be laid back, but I didn't think it would overtake nearly most of the mini-adventure. Looks like pallet town will be the final stop to this adventure where Ash meets with Oak, and then Gary to reminisce on his most recent adventure, in which Gary pops the question about Ash's goal; Pokemon Master.

However, I do expect Professor Oak to pop the question about Paldea, which excites Ash to go on another adventure to the new region, giving us the anticipation to see him in the new 2023 anime story, thus luring older fans to watch it.

Other than that, this does not feel like a story arc finale. Look forward to seeing Ash in the new series.

I'm not really expecting to see Ash in the new series. This series might be set in a new universe altogether and none of the previous 25 years of the anime ever happened.

I can see like a YouTube like series where they details Ash journey after MPM or something like the Mega evolution specials if the writers planned to have Ash to cameo in the New Series like how they introduce Alain from the specials to the XY series. They aren't completely retiring Ash as a character yet.

So that you can pretend your failed prediction didn't happen right?

You literally don't know that.

I think if it was an AU like Pokémon Origins we would have known from the get-go (and the art style is generally a tip-off, too judging by how visually different Twilight Wings and the Pokétoon spinoff series look from the main anime)

At this point it's fair to say that nothing groundbreaking is happening to Ash's pokemon except maybe new moves and the Latias capture at least up until episode 9.

They just proved with Squirtle that Lapras most likely won't be returning either lol.

Yep. MPM is pretty much just eating time until the Liko show.

Also, no time enough for all of Ash's pokemon have some action, so, or we're having all of them together in the final episode, or just a few of the reserves are having something to do, with the opening scenes serving to remember all of them.
