• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

These You tubers cant be trusted, they are just click baits
Seriously, they should get proper jobs
Creating clickbait is a proper job. And you can make a ton of money if you’re good at it

in my opinion this is a pathetic job
Yes, u can make money out of it but it is still lame as a profession

Personally, it comes off as desparate if it is constantly done. Every once in a while as a tongue-in-cheek joke would be fine.

Taking advantage of ignorance is not a proper job, unless you consider carnies and their rigged fair games a proper job
Clickbait isn’t much different than creating algorithms from the sum of user interactions on a platform to build recommendation engines to shovel content at you.

It’s all rigged against you. Clickbait just uses psychology against you instead of math.

Imagine:

“Hey what is your job”

“Oh I make “speculation videos on Pokemon videos with clickbait to an audience that has probably barely left diapers”.

It’s the same with those people I see on YouTube making content geared towards children. The fact that grown ass adults know how children work is hella creepy.

I mean for one, the videos speculating about stuff about anipoke are not targeted towards babies.

And many adults need to know how kids work, due to parenting, teaching, babysitting, etc.

I feel PokeTubers are ultimately harmless and easy enough to ignore. It's the assholes who glue barnacles on turtles and then make videos "coming to their rescue by removing them" purely to bask in the praise of their audience for the sake of their own ego that are a real problem.
And the Spider-Man/Elsa videos, UGH!

With Kingler returning in the Lapras episode, I wanted to look back and wonder: was Kingler intended to be more prominent? Here he was featured in the Master Quest anime promo and theme song.

He was left out of the Johto League (only one of Ash's Pokemon at the time) to make room for Squirtle and didn't cameo during the Sinnoh League. Also seemed like he got impacted by writers really liking Corphish (another crab Pokemon) during AG. Not to mention Tauros, Snorlax and Heracross all returned for Battle Frontier and Muk continues to get cameo appearances.

I think Kingler was definitely intended to be in the top tier of Ash's Pokemon during the original series. Swept an entire league match by himself, broke a Cloyster shell, created giant whirpools in the Whirl Cup before Psyduck's headache gag.

I wonder if he had more returns, would be in the same conversation as Snorlax and Heracross as far as reserves go?

Social media influencer is a surprisingly lucrative profession. If your following is large enough, you can monetize your channel and get a cut of YouTube’s advertising revenue.

YouTube has created its fair share of multi-millionaires. The Ryan’s World kid has an estimated net-worth of $100 million, and some annoying channels like Unspeakable and PrestonPlayz have generated millions in revenue.

It’s the same with those people I see on YouTube making content geared towards children. The fact that grown ass adults know how children work is hella creepy.
Some of the content targeted towards kids, like Blippi and CoCoMelon, is no different than what you’d find on PBS kids.

Isn't Cocomelon like, legitimately bad for kids in a neurological level?

I have no idea.

Having been subjected to it for a day when I was watching my nephew last year, I’ve learned it’s bad for me on a neurological level, though…

Undetermined. From a studied industry childcare perspective, any video time more than 9min at any given time is harmful, cognitively, for children under 3.

That said, the data is unclear as of now. It does appear harmful to some, reportedly, but only time will really tell, longterm, how bad they are.

Still, not sure I’d be comfortable with my child being the bidoof.
