Pocket Monsters (2023) Speculation Thread

Zygarde already has its Complete Forme so the chances of that species getting a Mega Evolution is close to zero.
You're free to believe that. But I wouldn't put it past Gamefreak to create a new Zygarde form. :)

Well the intent of these first two episodes was to show you how COOL and BADASS Roy has gotten in the imaginary off-screen land, so they really went out of their way to make sure you know how MATURE and AMAZING he is as a battler now. All the girls fawning over him, the special yellow Lucario, the only protagonist with Mega Evolution, the way he inspires people around him, so naturally the rules of logic had to be shifted a little bit in order to grant Roy victory and make you really understand what a CHAD and HERO Roy has become.
I can say more - Roy in those two episodes looking much more serious, competent and mature in comparison with Ash Ketchum in seasons 20-25.

I could see Liko, Roy and Dot each getting one. Liko can have Tepig, Roy can have Totodile and Dot can have Chikorita.
I'm genuinely unsure whether the kids would have enough time to properly raise these rookie starters into fully evolved Pokemon while dealing with threats such as Rakurium and Explorers, especially if they're meant to promote Mega Evolution through them. It feels like it would take way too long unless the writers sped up their development and evolution, which wouldn't feel satisfying.

Call me Robert guys
I honestly kind of fear for Dot in the long term considering they seem to be treating Uruto as a new major character
Hope she isn’t sidelined
Considering she's the reason the gang is getting back together, I think she'll be fine. Plus we know she's getting Tinkaton soon and is the tech support of the group so she'll probably be the one leading the gang in all the investigations and getting the ship back together too.

Honestly they should get the kslos starters. Chesnaught for Roy, Delphox for Dot and Greninja for Liko.

If we're shilling with popular mons what better mon to shill than GRENINJA

you know what, do one further liko should go capture the same greninja that ash left as a weed wacker

Liko-Greninja lmao

If Ash's Greninja does come back in this series (which I think is next to impossible) it should be under the ownership of Ash. I find it really odd that protecting Kalos from the remaining parts of the Megalith is something that keeps Greninja permanently released there. In the Journeys episode where Greninja reappeared, I do remember Ash saying to Greninja something like "let's meet again someday" when they parted ways so that could be an indication that Greninja's release might not be a permanent case.

Maybe Roy battles Ash for the title of World Champion and we have an epic Greninja vs Lucario showdown.

But yeah, the chances of this happening probably close to zero and honestly I'm half-joking in whatever I said here. :p

Well they pretty much retconned Ash-Greninja out of existence, so I somehow doubt they'll be making any more special anime forms, lol.
Yeah. I think that Ash-Greninja was only created due to the fact that the only Gen 6 Pokémon to get a Mega was Diancie, who is a Mythical, and they wanted Ash to have an all-Gen 6 team aside from Pikachu. So it was either have Ash catch a Diancie or create an anime-original form that is on the same power level as a Mega. And they ultimately chose to go with the latter. They ended up adding it to the games as an incentive to download the Sun and Moon demo, which is the only way to obtain Ash-Greninja in the games.

That pig looks like it would fit in perfectly with the rest of Roy's party.

While it's primary type would clash with Crocalor, maybe its potential variant evolution would allow it to stand out. Not to mention, his Pikachu already shares its type with Kilowattrel, so it wouldn't be unprecedented
Except Pikachu isn’t Roy’s Pokemon as it’s still technically Friede’s Pokemon and Roy is just taking care of it so it’s not really part of his team.

Heck if anything Roy’s situation with Freide’s Pikachu is pretty similar to the situation with Yellow and Red’s Pikachu in Pokemon Adventures/Yellpw Chapter Yellow where while Red was missing Yellow was looking after his Pikachu which while it was traveling with her it wasn’t really considered her Pokémon and once it properly reunited with Red it went back to traveling with Red.

So while Roy could have some type overlap with his Pokémon Pikachu doesn’t actually count since it’s not his Pokemon.

Yeah I feel like any theoretical new mega they get will probably be a 2 or 1 stage line rather than a 3 stage one

The idea of a world where Ash's Kalos Ace was a Diancie of all Pokemon sounds very funny to me.

I mean they coukd always get them fully evolved like how roy got lucario (that we know of)

All the reports and leaks we had of Gen 10 point to a Q4 2026 release. That gives Horizons between 18 and 24 more months, which is roughly the same time in which Liko got Sprigatito to Meowscarada and that’s considering for the first couple arcs they really got little experience as they were constantly saved by Friede.

I mean they could easily make something like a Litwick or Ralts(going to the Gallade route) work, since after they evolve once through level up they can pretty much evolve them whenever they want since although they would need is the respective evolution stone.

It just feels like an awfully long wait for them to fully evolve, especially if their purpose is to promote Mega Evolution. Not to mention our characters are currently dealing with Rakurium-infested Pokemon like Steelix and Slaking, and on top of that Explorers are still a threat, so I'm not sure how much help Chikorita/Tepig/Totodile/Fennekin/Chespin/Froakie would be in this kind of storyline.

Liko/Dot getting a fully evolved Pokemon, or middle-evo Pokemon that they eventually evolve/mega evolve sounds more realistic and doable for the kind of the story we're working with and the kinds of threats they're dealing with. It'd also allow the anime to promote those Megas more quickly rather than having to wait dozens of episodes for all the evolutions to happen.

His hair is so Waninoko-coded.
Actually I know this is a long-shot, but I'd love to see Liko get a Tepig. Tepig are gentle and friendly, while Emboar would add a nice contrast to her sleek, cutsey team. Emboar have been shown as gentle giants. It could be the team muscle, while still reflecting Liko's more quiet and introspective personality.
