Pocket Monsters (2023) Speculation Thread

Why do you include Mega Lucario Z if it's not a permanent transformation? Mega Evolutions aren't part of the evolutionary line, just a temporary gimmick.
And taking this page from Z-A, the Z megas as of that game have a bigger pro and a bigger con compared to the others.

Lucario Z is faster and attacks faster, but the transformation doesn't last as long in comparison.

I count it because even though the transformation is temporary, it does add something new, upgrading the strength of Roy's team as a whole.

I don't think he's getting it regardless. More likely, someone else will have it.
So how do you explain the scene from the ED where Lucario is shown alongside other evolving Pokémon?
The cards there are: Hattrem-Hatterene, Gimmighoul-Gholdengo, Charcadet (soon to be Armarouge), and Lucario.

The presence of Jackal, despite being the final form, is suspicious.

After Charcadet evolves into Armarouge, I really hope Liko starts focusing on all her Pokémon equally. I want Meowscarada to learn a new Dark-type move and finally replace Magical Leaf with something fresh. I want Hatterene to learn Dazzling Gleam. I want Meowscarada to actually start winning battles. And I want Liko to battle Anne, Diana, Amethio, and Roy. There’s honestly so much the writers could do with Liko right now.

Like @DuskAstral said, the ED strongly indicates that Roy's Lucario is gonna Mega Evolve into Mega Lucario Z.

Plus in the updated scenes in the OP, did you notice that Lucario is shown battling a Hawlucha? I have a hunch that Lucario's gonna Z Mega Evolve whenever it battles against that Hawlucha.

Kyurem didn't appear at all in the main BW series. Also, Zekrom was pretty irrelevant in the scheme of things.
Since Zekrom is a main legendary of the Unova region, it counts. Also, Kyurem was featured in the gen anime movie, which is canon to the main series story. This is even supported in the Ash and Pikachu final chapter special, in which Ash reflects on its power.

While I do want to see Meowscarada get a new move, I don’t see them replacing Magical Leaf unless it’s with Leaf Storm as Meowscarad’s leaf moves have been built up to be her specialty since she was a Sprigatito, being a big part of her battle style.

I'm guessing after Armorouge, then debuts Quaxadrual and then Mega Lucario Z.

With that said, it seems likely that the anime's next main story adventure after horizon will possibly re-incorporate gym badge quest-related stories or challenges similar, in its next adaptation. If this does happen, its a high chance we will see Ash again as perhaps a guest star.

A lesson learned from the Horizon anime adventure, never allow a story to stray too far from the major source materials that are advertised / promoted by the franchise.

Mega Lucario Z is unavoidable. We just have to make our peace with it, no matter how ridiculous and batshit insane it is that Mega Evolution has become a boy-exclusive gimmick.
We can however choose to dump the piss-colored Lucario in a bin... which is where it should be going after that poor Kalos mini-arc. No need to wait till next series, the dump's just nearby.

Honestly it would be for the best to do a back to basics kind of series. Sad to say, Horizons has shown that these writers just do not have the chops to do a totally original story from scratch and should instead focus on crafting a story while using the games as scaffolding. The fact that numerous times the solutions to mysteries within the plot are conveniently handed to the heroes by a side character who had been looking into it offscreen makes it seem like the writers either had no idea how to or no desire to present the heroes putting in the leg work to uncover these things themselves. At least with the gym plots they had a framework that they could then expand on.

No like fr, she needs to start using all her mons equally, since she now has Armarouge, she needs to train all her team if theyre gonna strong enough to fight spinel and the heroes so pls let HATTERENE AND MEOWSCARADA SHINE

I think some sort of middle ground would be ideal. It doesn't have to be characters chasing a gigantic mystery like the RVT, but if they could somehow intertwine a gym quest (assuming there is one in gen 10) and some ongoing plot, that would be the ideal result.

HZ's biggest issue isn't plot anyway (imo), it's the characters.

It's way the show is incapable of balancing its characters and giving them equal/fair amounts of focus. This applies to both human characters and Pokemon characters (non-starter Pokemon being neglected is a HUGE issue). That should be their number one priority, fix the character balancing. Also maybe actually give us a proactive female battler as the lead instead of delegating the battler role to the generic excited boy character. Also don't build up a character as a battler with a lot of potential (like they did with Liko in arcs 3 and 4) only to make them depressed and deny them battle success, thus completely wrecking whatever direction they were taking with said character.

Like liko interested people like grusha, rika and Geeta with how she battled, but then decided to shove majority of regular battles to roy....sorry thats just worst decision writing ever. Plus them saying liko connects with her starter a lot more when they battle together...refuses to give said starter and character proper battles

Roy was always going to get bigger focus post-timeskip because they intended to highlight how cool he's become, that was always what they planned. Sadly, the writing staff, who is already bad at balancing screentime, ended up completely derailing Liko's trajectory because they're somehow incapable of giving multiple characters equal treatment. They just suck at it, and it's unfortunate.
