Pokémon Abilities

They aren't going to change. They just say they're going to have other ones. Some Pokémon already have more than one ability. Snorlax can have Immunity or Thick Fat, for example.

I think that statement was reffering to Movesets, as oppose to Abilities. But if it was reffering to Abilities, there are a few more Pokémon that I'd like to see with Pickup. None in particular, just more.

I'm guessing skills means abilities, cause after all a skill is an ability.

Damn Zigzagoon: Why would Venonat have Levitate?

I'd love to see more abilities available to Pokemon, and ones that make more sense than what they have already to boot, but... it's already bad enough we have to breed for nature, IVs, moves, specie, and, of course, if they already have two different traits, the right one.

If there was a way to make it easier to select an ability, or maybe even double them up (which would get mighty cheap), then awesome.

But that sounded more like it was referring to new moves... I wouldn't put it past them to add new traits on old monsters, but it sounded like they meant attacks

Nope, just Large Eyes, Fangs hands, feet, and those little antennaes.

I've never seen any of the Clef line float , so why give it to them. Yes they have wings, but the Levitate ability are given to those that actually float of the ground. (For Example, Koffing, nearly all ghosts types, Lati@s, Lunatone, Solrock, Chimecho, Baltoy, Flygon)

If anything, Metagross should get Levitate, seeing that it can actually levitate. Though I fear it would become too cheap, its abilities would certainly warrant it getting the ability.

Also, I'd like to see some old Pokemon get new abilities. Rekindle as a Fire equivalent to Volt Absorb anyone? It would certainly improve some Fire Pokemon that are in dire need of help.

Ooo. Rekindle. I like that choice of word; woulda never thought of it :D

And Metagross with Levitate... OY... Shoot me now, to prevent the unbearable pain I'd meet in the future with that thing...

I personally would want to see a flying type version of flash fire. Who wants high flying fun with Windmill? Just when you think your Breloom is to be OHKOed by Skarm's drill peck, bam, it is unable to hurt, and grants a juicy damage bonus to your Drill Peck/Hidden Power/Aerial Ace/Aeroblast. Nifty, don't you think?

Would be cool for those normal/flying Pokemon that never get any love due to being outdone by Dodrio. It could put Fearow back into use, imagine the formula: Drill Peck x Choice Band x STAB x Windmill = 270 power fo Drill Peck, and that's without adding the hopefully present Adamant (or +atk) nature and hopefully usable attack stat with EVs. Nifty!

For abilities functioning outside of battle, how about swift swim allows you to "bike" across the water.

Also, should they include snow as a random encounter area, magma armor/similar would melt the snow around you as you pass, preventing the encounters and/or finding items.

Why can't you say swin faster in water? *has image of someone cycling into the sea.*

There's so many great ideas I've seen for traits, but I don't wanna waste this topic giving em out :p

But definitely definitely make some more Ice related traits (as well as Ice Pokemon). Or a trait that heals by Poison :D (kinda like sending out your Liquid Oozer when they Leech Seed, only the other way around... they Toxic, you heal more every turn :D)

In addition, I think several Ice types (I'm looking at you, Jynx) could be helped with an Ice equivalent to Flash Fire called Flash Frost (sorry, Yami_no_Waru, I'm not feeling creative now :(). Either that or a Volt Absorb equivalent called Crystallize.

But you're right, Ice types seriously need some more love and less Water typings.

I think that an abbility for fire pokés can be:
hyper heat:
has imunity at water, but ice attacks deals normal damage.

the psychic version of wonder guard:
immunity at psychical (or touching) attacks.

the rock version of volt absorb/water absorb:
reconstruction:
reconstructs body if hitted by a ground or rock attack restoring energy.

Yeah, there needs to be new Abilties, like maybe Rayquaza with Intimidate or maybe the "Chu Family" with Volt Absorb. Pichu seriously needs it with it having such low defense. Also, I've thought of a new ability, called Frostbite, which is an Ice-type static.

I was thinking Ice Wall, which is like Marvel Scale but it activates when hit with an Ice attack (and adds Ice immunity, like Flash Fire); Winter Coat, which raises Evasion in Hail; Frostbite (same name as the guy above :p) which is a contact 10% chance of freeze (can't be too cheap :p); Packing Snow, which heals when hit by an Ice attack or Hail.

Crystallize sounds like an actual attack, like some way to jack Defense or something. Still cool as ever, though.

And I just want to advertise my Zombify trait idea once again. It would be for a mummy line idea I had, but also pretty useful for a few strategies with Skill Swap. It eliminates type weaknesses in exchange for a 4x weakness to Fire and taking damage from healing. In other words, say a Water/Ground had Zombify. He's still immune to Electric, but now has a 4x to Fire instead of Grass, and if you Tricked some Leftovers onto him... he's a goner :p I thought the trait would work well on a type combo that doesn't normally have a lot of weaknesses anyways, like Ghost/Fighting (which was what the mummy was). He loses the Dark, Flying and Psychic weaknesses for 4x damage from Fire and damage from healing. With Zombify, though, attacks like Leech Life, Absorb, etc. that drain HP from the enemy still heal you normally (like Undead using Drain in Final Fantasy).
