They'll probably have him come back, but unless the remakes retcon Iris becoming Champion he'll probably just be a mentor to her.

Yea because in the original games he is Champion. Honestly BW in the anime has this weird time line. Iris went from her Gym Leader variation to Champion from BW-JN(SM/XY?) and somehow BW Bianca exists but so does BW2 Cheren.
Along with Cheren and Lenora both being Normal Type Gym Leaders. Who knows how the anime will handle time with SV tbh.
The worse thing they could of done towards the anime was making games revolving around time honestly

Honestly. I do believe that tease is incorrect though. Lance is winning this. The reason I’m saying this is because Lance owns a MCX in the games. Obviously another famous Charizard user is using that but what’s the next best thing?
