Pokémon equivalents of popular TV shows/movies

While I was talking on the Serebii Discord server, I had some thoughts: what would some popular real-world TV shows and movies be called and be about in the Pokémon world? I’ve already thought of a few:

  • Hawaii Five-0 = Alola Five-0. It’d be a bunch of Officer Jennys riding on speedboats with their Gumshoos, chasing down Guzma and Team Skull.
  • CSI: NY = CSI: Unova or more specifically, CSI: Castelia (since Castelia is based on the actual city of New York, in particular Manhattan).
  • Pretty much anything set in New York or which has “New York” in the title could be set in Unova/Castelia in the Pokémon world.
  • The Great British Bake Off = The Great Galarian Bake Off (since Galar is based on Britain, and TGBBO is a popular baking show in that country).
  • Les Miserables = since LM is set during the French Revolution, and Kalos fought a war in the past, the Pokémon version of LM could be set in Kalos during the days when the king ruled the region.
  • Home Alone = Hoenn Alone. I only really came up with this one for the pun because “Hoenn” sounds a lot like “home”. I believe there was even an episode of the actual Pokémon anime called Hoenn Alone, where Ash sets off for Hoenn after his adventures in Johto.
  • Steven Universe = Steven Stone Universe. (Get it? In Steven Universe there are gems, gems are rocks, and Steven Stone, the champion of Hoenn, is named like a rock… and he specialises in rocks? :p)

Your talking about Pokemon parodies of TV shows and movies?

Tom and Jerry - Meowth and Pikachu

This one is pretty obvious

And BTW Nova, I actually wrote a short fanfic/drabble where Professor Kukui watches Alola Five-O.

Game of Thrones would offer itself to Pokemon. Maybe they'd call it the Song of Ice and Dragon? Each noble family gets a Pokemon type and the story centers around the return of legendary Dragon Pokemon? Maybe Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem would be involved? Like the story would evolve restoring the original dragon?

Judging by B&W 2 Super Hero/Super Sentai shows are popular in the Pokemon world. The difference would probably be that the heroes would be based around and partnered with Pokemon.
Green Arrow would be "Noctowl Arrow" the Flash would be "The Jolteon"

Supernatural: A show about two brothers investigating Legendary Pokemon and Ultra Beasts while speaking in ridiculously gravelly voices that, for inexplicable reasons, last for 15 years.

Star Trek: Sci-Fi show about the crew of a spaceship exploring distant planets, 80% of the crew is comprised of Clefairy and Clefable.

Rick and Morty and Garbodor: A cartoon about exploring the various dimensions in Ultra Space.

Ghost Pokemon Hunters: A reality show about the daily work of people that specialize in catching and controlling infestations of Ghost Pokemon in people's homes and businesses, as well as handling genuine hauntings by actual ghosts.

Marie Antoinette (Movie): A movie based on the life of Kalos' last, ill-fated queen and her favourite Pokemon; a Bellossom nicknamed "Petite Marie".

  • Les Miserables = since LM is set during the French Revolution, and Kalos fought a war in the past, the Pokémon version of LM could be set in Kalos during the days when the king ruled the region.

It does NOT take place during the famous revolution of 1789 with the Storming of the Bastille, Marie Antoinette and the Reign of Terror. The story starts in 1815 and involves the failed uprising in 1832.

Not parodies per say, but just what they’d be in the Pokémon world. I think in one episode Ash says that he saw a movie called Dirty Herdier, which clearly parallels Dirty Harry, the 1971 Clint Eastwood movie.

Tom and Jerry - Meowth and Pikachu

Or Litten and Rattata.

Oh yeah, wasn’t it the movie that played on the TV in your bedroom in R/B/Y? “Two boys are walking along railroad tracks. Better get going!”

I have no idea why this was the first thing to pop in my head but, Miltank and Torchic.

Cow and Chicken?

Do you guys think Vampire movies in the Pokemon universe have them turn into Golbats and/or Crobats?

Or Noiverns. I see Lance being a vampire because of the way he looked in the original G/S/C.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) = Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles
Imagine the "turtles" could be Squirtle, Tirtouga, or Turtwig. Master Splinter a Ratticate. Shredder a Bisharp. They'd be living in the sewers of Castelia City.

What about Torkoal? And who would April O’Neil be?

The 700 Club = The 493 Club (referencing the national Dex number of Arceus)

God Friended Me = Arceus Friended Me

People in the Pokémon world watch Pokémon? Pokémonception!

I’ve thought of another one: NYPD Blue = CCPD Blue, CCPD being short for Castelia City Police Department.

Many works dealing with werewolves in real life would use Were-Lycanroc in the Pokemon world

Much like there are a lot of types of werewolves, there would be werecanines, werecanrocs, weredooms...

Kutie Pie

"It is my destiny."
In canon, they did a Romeo and Juliet movie with Psyduck and Wigglytuff. And a Rocky parody was done in an Orange Islands episode between a Hitmonchan and Machoke with Adrian as a Clefable.

Arnold Schwarzenegger-esque movies could star a Machamp.

Child's Play would star a Banette as the murderous doll, whether it'd still be called Chucky or not.

Has anyone ever nicknamed a Banette Chucky in the games? XD

Or it could be a Mimikyu, since Mimikyu disguises itself as a Pikachu doll to make friends, but the Mimikyu from the anime would be a better fit as it hates all Pikachu with an almost murderous passion, and it has that... freaky voice.
