Pokémon GO Discussion Rules
1. All SPPf general rules apply. Read them. Love them. Especially the one about spamming and off-topic posting.
2. Respect your fellow players and members. Flamewars go against the spirit of GO, and as such, flaming or bashing each other will not be tolerated.
3. DO NOT USE THIS FORUM TO ORGANIZE UNAUTHORIZED MEETUPS. This is for your safety. Furthermore, SPPf is not liable for any issues that arise from meetups organized privately. Please exercise good judgement when communicating with fellow players!
4. DO NOT REVEAL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION, INCLUDING SPECIFIC LOCATION, THROUGH THIS FORUM. This is also for your safety. It's okay to give the names of your local landmarks (especially if you live in a large city with plenty of tourist destinations), but it's not okay to give out your address. Do not give your address or specific location to other members via private channels either.
5. Simple questions go in Simple Q&A. For specs, the very basics of the game, and anything else that can be answered with a definite, one-line response, please visit the sticky to avoid clogging the forum.
6. You may post screenshots of your adventures, but please keep them in line with all SPPf rules! Seriously.
7. No stirring up drama. While "stirring up drama" also covers the usual subjects you'd expect from any other part of the board (flamebaiting, posting only to annoy others, and so forth), in the GO forum, it also means:
-- A. Posting to complain about the game/Niantic when you haven't even played in the first place.
-- B. Posting to complain about the game/Niantic after having uninstalled the app OR going into a lengthy rant about why you uninstalled the game.
-- C. Generally posting to complain about the game/Niantic without intending on having any sort of constructive discussion thereafter.
Please note that the GO forum is a fan community and that we are in no way officially affiliated with Niantic. We are, therefore, not a review board for the app. If you wish to voice your displeasure over the existence of the app or to talk about why you uninstalled it, please consider leaving a review on iTunes, Google Play, or anywhere else directly related to Niantic.
"Where do I post...
1. ...YouTube videos?"
You do not. No, not even your reviews or analyses.
2. ...a note that calls attention to an error on the website?"
All corrections to Serebii.net (the main site) should be brought up on the Mistakes on Serebii thread (through this link). Unfortunately, no one who visits the GO forum regularly can edit the site, and the person who can edit the site doesn't often check the GO forum at all. Sorry!
3. ...a discussion thread about the latest event or update?"
Believe it or not (considering what's already on this forum), you can actually create a new thread for this if you'd like. Just be aware of the moderation queue.
4. ...my in-depth, text-based analysis/prediction?"
-- If your analysis/prediction leaves plenty of room for other people to discuss their thoughts as well as yours, then feel free to create a new thread. Please note that thread moderation is still turned on for this forum, so it may take a couple hours for your topic to show up. If it doesn't show up in a couple of days, it may be that it wasn't approved. Feel free to ask a mod to see if that's the case.
-- If your analysis/prediction is something you think won't take up too many pages of discussion, you may wish to post it in the discussion thread.
-- If your analysis is basically just a rant about Niantic/the game and why you uninstalled it/never installed it in the first place, please see rule #7 above.
5. ...this news article/a screenshot/something hilarious that happened to me recently while playing the game?"
The discussion thread. Possibly Recent Happenings if you want to talk about a funny GO-related story that happened to you recently.
