I wonder if EV's have any effect on 'Thlon stats?

I was thinking that rather than EVs affecting it, it was IVs. I checked it out for a while, but couldn't come up with a definite answer because I don't have enough lv 100s :( Something else has to be affecting it because sometimes a Pokemon that I haven't touched will for example have gray stars, but no enlarged stars. I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with really low IVs in that area, but I can't really test-prove it yet :( If anyone else could test it out I think it would be interesting. ^^

It seems like the Pokethlon stats are kind of a mix between battle stats and contest stats. The base values are dependent on battle stats, unlike the contests which start you at zero, but you can heighten them with the Shakes like the Poffins.

If they are then why do Ditto and Sunkern both have 5 stars for every Pokethlon stat, yet their battle stats suck?

whoah, sunkern really does get 5 stars in every stat.

way to make players want to use the weakest pokemon stats wise.

I think it's a good idea to make Sunkern have great Pokethlon stats, so that at least it has other purpose in the games, despite of its terrible battling stats.

maybe its because they live next to the pokethlon's stadium? (in the park)
xD

it will be funny to see groundon being knocked out in sumo by a sunkern

Yeah, wild Sunkern spend their time training for the Pokethlon instead of battling because they're so weak lol.

And yes, it will be absolutely hilarious to see little weak Sunkern own everybody else at the Pokethlon lol.

I'm still impressed with Sunkern XD And the whole blue-good-stat and red-bad-stat thing as well XD

That only had to do with how IVs worked in 2nd gen. Since shininess isn't determined by IVs anymore, the shiny ditto method can't work today, I'm afraid.

I think he was talking anbout the foreigin breeding method.

(EX: J. Ditto + any english pokemon on english cart= higher chance of breeding a shiney)

...

does the shiny ditto breeding method still work????

Where in the world did you get foreign from? How do you confuse foreign and shiny at all anyway? It's not like shiny pokémon are from a different country...

I could see the leap in logic. Foreign ditto can help with shiny pokemon

But...yeah he probably was referring to the old method from Gen 2

Still, does the foreign method work in these games?

I don't see why they'd go out of their way to do so after going through the trouble of working it into the breeding system+a way to facilitate communication between people of other nations?

@ the previous topic :p

There I got the HG/SS Guide book lol XD It says this about the natures vs. Pokethlon:

For the competitions, a player must play well, but also a Pokemon's "Performance" also have a big affect on the end results. Performance consists of Speed, Power, Technique, Stamina and Jump. Pokemon have from 1★ to 5★ based on the species for each skill. However, Pokemon also have daily conditions which will make the number of ★ go either up or down. Performance that goes up or down daily is connected to a Pokemon's natures as shown in the "chart" (I can't make a chart ;_; lol) below. ◎ can make it go up by at most two and ○ can make it go up by at most one ★. △ can make it drop by at most one and ▲ can make it drop by at most two ★. Check these stats when you join the Pokethlon.

Key:
◎ = Very strong
○ = Strong
△ = Weak
▲ = Very Weak

Huh, interesting.

Oh oh oh!
What's it say about Safari Zone Pokemon

Wow, that's a very interesting table :D I love seeing tables done like this. And I'll be looking forward to seeing the Safari one.

So according to this table a Brave nature Pokemon will be very slow(!) and a Timid nature Pokemon will be very fast(!!).

How does that make sense?

That would make sense, but it doesn't explain why Sunkern can have perfect stats unless only one nature was experimented with.
Sunkern has the possibility of max stats. Most Sunkern start off with 1 or 2 stars in any slot
