"Pokémon: Intensity" HoSo Specials - As close to Season 8 as I'm getting
In the repost of my Season 6 thread, ShucklemasterJ suggested that I do HoSo specials for "Pokémon: Intensity". I didn't think it'd work at first, but then I realized that there are many characters I wanted to bring back but didn't get the chance to. Many of these characters weren't resuscitated because I couldn't connect them to Ash and Misty or Jessie and James in any way - and by making special episodes without the main characters, I've overcome that obstacle. So here's the first four specials - and thank you, ShucklemasterJ, for the inspiration!
“Annie and Oakley’s Excellent Adventure”
Episode HACP01

In the vast Olivine-based secret offices of Team Alto, Annie and Oakley are eagerly awaiting their annual performance reviews. Annie suspects that they are shoo-ins for a promotion. However, when their boss, Marisa, goes over a year’s worth of Annie and Oakley’s progress reports, she informs the two agents that they are not ready for promotion and must remain at Class 2 for another year. Outraged, Annie and Oakley vow to prove that they are the most vicious thieves in all of Team Alto. Trying to think of a truly remarkable heist they can pull, they learn of the plight of crazed Pokémon collector Lawrence III, who once tried to capture the three Legendary Birds in the hopes that it would summon Lugia from the sea. Deciding that they can use Lawrence to help them capture the birds again, they set off to the Orange Islands in the hopes of locating him. Tracking him down in his massive mansion off Shamouti Island, Annie and Oakley try to persuade Lawrence to help them. However, Lawrence has learned from his past mistakes and has vowed not to go after the legendary Pokémon again. Not about to lose a promotion, Annie and Oakley hold him at gunpoint and demand that he take them to the birds’ locations. Lawrence reluctantly takes the two agents out to sea and shows them Moltres’ Island, but once on land, he makes a break for it and tells Moltres to take off. Annie and Oakley try to contain the bird, but he escapes - and the temperature immediately begins dropping. Annie and Oakley grab Lawrence and chase Moltres to Articuno’s island. As soon as Articuno leaves his roost to help his companion, thunderbolts begin flashing across the sky at an alarming rate. It is at this point that Lawrence informs Annie and Oakley that the birds have an effect on the weather. When Zapdos arrives to fight off Annie and Oakley, Lugia rises from the sea and sends the birds back to their respective islands. He then begins pursuing Annie and Oakley for being so inconsiderate. Blasting across the sea back towards Shamouti Island, Annie and Oakley’s rocket engines run out of fuel, and their vehicle splashes into the sea. The Shamouti Coast Guard arrives on the scene and arrests the two for disrupting the peace. Stuck in jail, Annie and Oakley call Marisa, who agrees to send help, but assures them that they won’t be promoted now for at least two years.
“Summer of Forty-Boo”

After retiring from Pokémon training, Johto trainers Dani, Yoshi, and Jackson fell out of contact with one another for several years. While perusing the Goldenrod Department Store one day, Yoshi runs into his two friends again. While catching up with one another at the Rooftop Café, Dani suggests that they all go out and do something together like old times. Jackson points out that the annual End of Summer Festival will be happening soon at Maiden’s Peak in the Kanto region, and the three friends agree that it’d be a perfect activity. That night, Yoshi returns home and realizes just how beautiful Dani has become since he last saw her. Yoshi’s Typhlosion tells his trainer that he’s likely developing a crush on Dani. Yoshi suspects that he may be right. When the three friends arrive at the End of Summer Festival several that weekend, they learn about the myth of the Ghost of Maiden’s Peak. Upon hearing that the ghost nearly claimed two innocent men several years ago, Jackson begins to suspect that there may be truth to the myth. Yoshi, however, is more focused on Dani and how he will somehow admit his feelings to her. That evening, however, the festivities are disrupted by the appearance of the supposed ghost. Jackson is initially terrified, but the ghost sets its sights on Yoshi instead. Yoshi begs not to be taken away, insisting that he has to tell Dani how he feels, but the ghost drags him towards the top of Maiden’s Peak against his wishes. Dani hears Yoshi’s cries for help and sends forth her Misdreavus, whose Nightshade attack reveals the Gastly behind the facade of the ghost. Outraged that he’s been found out again, Gastly force-evolves itself into a much more powerful Haunter and attacks Dani with a massive Shadow Ball. Yoshi manages to get Dani to the first aid tent while simultaneously fending off Haunter with his Typhlosion. Once she comes to, Dani realizes all the lengths Yoshi’s gone to in order to secure her safety. Yoshi takes the opportunity to tell Dani that he’s in love with her. Touched, Dani gets to her feet and prepares to fight Haunter with Yoshi at her side. However, once they get outside the tent, they see that Jackson has already felled and captured the ghost for himself. Regardless, Dani is still grateful to Yoshi for saving her - and agrees to a date with him the following week.

Having spent over fifteen years as a member of the Elite Four, Lorelei begins to consider the pros and cons of retirement. She feels that she’s reached the pinnacle of her Indigo Plateau training days and decides to call it quits. Her fellow Elite Four members Bruno, Agatha, and Lance bid her farewell, but once she’s gone, Lorelei begins to realize that she’s not as young as she used to be. Retiring from the Elite Four has only proven that she’s past her prime and that she needs to cherish the rest of her life. Slipping into a mid-life crisis, Lorelei immediately purchases a new car, new clothes, and visits a cosmetic surgeon to schedule an appointment to have her face lifted and her already large bustline enhanced. Her Pokémon can’t stand to see her like this, however, and decide to take action. Before she can go so far as to change her appearance, Dewgong, Cloyster, Slowbro, and Lapras corner their owner and convince her that if she’s so eager to get back into the swing of life, she should start training again. Lorelei admits that she wants to train, but aspires to more than just fighting the challengers at the Indigo Plateau every year. She then gets the wise idea to become a gym leader. Though the Kanto and Johto unions are currently at full capacity, the recently relaunched - and legal - Orange League has no limit to how many gym leaders it has. Lorelei sets off to Tangelo Island to register in the Orange Gym Leader’s Union and is immediately allowed entry. Meeting with the other gym leaders, she quickly gets accustomed with Cissy, Danny, Rudy, and Luanna, as well as union leader Drake. Setting up a gym on Tangelo Island itself, Lorelei becomes widely respected. During one union meeting, Danny asks Lorelei out for the evening, and she readily accepts, relieved that men still find her attractive. At the end of the evening, Lorelei invites Danny in to her gym for the night. Danny agrees - but after several passionate hours, Danny finds himself ridden with guilt and admits to Lorelei that he’s married. Shocked that she just contributed to an act of adultery, Lorelei is even more perplexed when she discovers who Danny’s wife is - Professor Ivy. Wondering why Danny would want to cheat on such a beautiful wife, Lorelei apologizes to Ivy for everything. Regardless, Ivy is still furious and demands a separation. Realizing that she might not fit in with the Orange Islands crowd, Lorelei packs up and heads back to the Elite Four, where she is welcomed with open arms by her friends.
“The Girl Can’t Help It”

In the Johto region, Professor Hale is still widely regarded as the top expert on mythical and/or legendary Pokémon. However, his work at his home laboratory is often hindered by his teenage daughter Molly, who constantly has her friends over for slumber parties and the like. Needing privacy while preparing a presentation for the Academic Pokémon Society, Hale specifically requests that Molly and her friends be quiet. Molly insists that she never gets to hang out with her father anymore, and to appease her, Hale agrees to bring Molly with him to the APS meeting that weekend. This is not what Molly had in mind, however, and she mopes through the entire lecture. When it comes time for Hale to give his speech, Molly pays back her dad by swapping his notes with a failing essay she has written for school. Hale becomes the laughingstock of the society. Furious, Hale grounds Molly for a week. Believing that her father doesn’t understand her feelings, Molly sneaks out of her room and takes off into the forests of Johto. Distraught to find his daughter missing in the morning, Hale calls the police, who put out a citywide search for Molly. Meanwhile, Molly travels northward towards Goldenrod City, where she hopes to find a place to rest and collect her thoughts. Reading a flyer for a teen help hotline, Molly decides to call them, but she gets the wrong number and calls the Goldenrod Radio Station. It happens to be the middle of Mary’s call-in talk show, and the sympathetic DJ hears Molly’s story anyway. In telling her plight, Molly conveniently omits the fact that she ran away from home. Arriving at the radio station itself, Molly wanders in to find more help and is greeted by the station president. In the president’s office, Molly sees his prize Silver and Rainbow Wings on display and feels mysteriously compelled to take them. Knowing that they supposedly summon the wise and almighty Lugia and Ho-Oh to their roosts in Ecruteak City, and having always felt a strange connection to the legends of the Johto region, Molly sets off again in the hopes of getting guidance from the legendary birds. En route to the Tin Tower, she is spotted by a police officer, who tries to follow her and calls Professor Hale to alert him. At the Tin Tower, Hale arrives by helicopter and demands that Molly come home immediately before she’s grounded any more. Molly insists that the whole reason she ran away in the first place was because her father was so wrapped up in his work, he kept ignoring her and telling her to stay out of sight. Realizing the error of his ways, Hale apologizes and promises to be more considerate in the future. Molly accepts his apology and returns home.
