Pokémon Moves: Anime Debut

Pokémon Moves: Anime Debut

Hello people, to start again this thread I have to state something… This is not a BIG ANIME MOVE CATALOG thread, simply it´s not the same.

I´ve made a list of all Pokemon moves (from A to Z) to show if they have or have not appeared in the anime, and for those who have, I´ve specified the Episode and the Pokemon who first used it. For those who have not appeared they are just left in blank (with no Episode or Pkmn), and will remain so until it appear in a new episode.
Also, there are some moves that have it´s info in itallics, which means that it´s uncertain if the Pokémon that performed the move was indeed doing that move. This happens when a wild Pokémon, or even a Trainer´s Pokémon do something without following an order or without someone´s comment about what is it doing. However, there are some obvious cases in which wild Pokémon use certain moves that have a very specific animation so one can identify the move with no need of Brock or the character of the day saying "Oh, it´s using -insert move name here-"

I have included episodes that broadcast moves when they even haven´t been officially revealed in the games, for example, I´ve listed Rollout with Donphan in the Movie Mewtwo Returns, coz it´s obvious that it was the move being used and there´s no proof that it´s another move given that the trainer´s commands were not listened.
However, if the animation for X move looks alike Y move, but the episode STATES that it´s the X move, I will not count it as the Y move. EJ: Golem attacking by rolling (Like rollout) in "The Bridge Bike Gang" and the "Battle for the Badge", but the command of its trainer being just like "Tackle Attack". I know it´s kind of ambiguous, but I can change this rule if you don´t agree so we could edit the list.

Finally, I´d like to ask for the help of you all, to update and correct the info, coz obviously there are some errors and some things I missed in this List, so if you come with proof I will edit the list and correct or update it. I dunno anything of japanese, so if the moves used in the original version of the episodes differ from the dub, please correct me coz all this info comes from the dub episodes.

And again, this thread is DIFFERENT than Dreamcoat´s Anime Move Catalog. Some months ago I created this thread, and people liked it, but a mod suddenly closed it because it said the Thread already existed, even when people liked it. The Aniem Move Catalog lists “MOVES or MOVESETS” used by Character´s Pokemon, this Thread is about wether a move has appeared or has not appeared, and if it has, when and who used it. Also it does not matter if it´s a wild Pkmn or a Trainer´s Pkmn who used it, anyway it will be included, in contrast with the JUST CHARACTER´S PKMN rule in the Anime move Catalog. SO in conclusion both threads are very different, and I´m begging mods to please don´t close it.
Well, I hope you like it, I´ve put a lot of effort making the list, enjoy it.

YOu´ve got an awesome eye Dreamcoat, I really apreciate your contribution, now the list is closer to perfect after your observations.

About the Gunk shot issue, I think that Grimer knows the attack cause Dawn´s Pokedex listed it, but if I remember well, Grimer never used it, but anyway I will check the episode later to confirm that, thank you aswell for participating.

Any other observations, corrections or updates are welcome.

You're most welcome, I'm only happy to be of assistance. I have, however, noticed that you've missed two of those I listed:
Scary Face: Snubbull (Snubull Snobbery)
The Snubbull in Snubull Snobbery is still with 2 b's
Sheer Cold: Lapras (May, We Harley Drew´s Ya)
It's still Drew'd, not Drew's.

It didn't. It only used Sludge & Poison Gas.

Hey Andyhaunt I think that Sheridan's Vileplume and Roselia used Aromatherapy in "Cheer Pressure", episode 328.
And Piplup used Bide in DP001.

Oh I forgot it didn't actually use Gunk Shot... just remembered I heard that attack in this ep... sorry

The Snubbull in Snubull Snobbery is still with 2 b's

It's still Drew'd, not Drew's.

I´ve also edited Bide and Aromatherapy´s debuts, thanks Ash-kid.

I also want to discuss some ambiguities, like Aeroblast in the Power of One. Lugia fires a yellow/greenish beam when it´s enraged that I assumed it was it coz it´s somehow it´s signature attack, but anyway it can be anything like another beam based attack cause there´s no direct evidence that points it out.
I think I´ll probably end up listing it as an undebuted move, but before I want to hear opinions so I can make a better decission.
Probably there are more moves with the same situation so this is all open to discussion.

Oh yeah, I forgot... As most of you may have already noticed, I live in a non-english speaking country, so my english is still in progress, so I apologize for all my mistakes (should´ve written this in the main post)

Ludi-Kero!

Hugging 'til the end
Absorb and Growth were used by the wild Tangrowth in DP134 "King of the Forest!! Tangrowth!!". Absorb was the red beam and Growth the green one.

Did someone actually confirm it in the episode (like a character saying the name the move)? Coz if it´s not stated by anyone, the red beam could be also Mega Drain or Giga Drain. Same goes to Growth. Are you 100% sure about them?

Ludi-Kero!

Hugging 'til the end
Yes, they were confirmed. Brock and Meowth said the red beam was "Suitoru" (Absorb's japanese name) and later, Brock confirmed the green beam was "Seichou" (Growth's japanese name).

Thanks, they´ve been addded. The strange thing is how they performed Growth, given that it is a self stat boosting move in the games. Also when the grass Pkmn attack, Bellsprout is seen using Absorb, which to my knowledge it is not a legal move on it, but anyways, the anime has not always been faithful to the games rule.

Here´s two questions. FIrst One: In the Jirachi movie, does Jirachi use "Wish" at some point? I remember I saw it in Japanese a while ago so I can´t confirm it, but I remember Jirachi making things appear out of thin air. Obviously it could be anything else, but I just want confirmation.
And Second One: In the Drifting Snorunt, when Frosslass joins the battle against Glalie it uses some king of physical attach swinging it´s hand. It could be Wake-Up Slap since it´s the only move Frosslass can learn using it´s hands, or it was just simply " attacking ", like when Turtwig kicks Piplup. Could anyone confirm those two?

First One: Jirachi never used Wish. All it was doing was teleporting objects.

Second One: If Froslass used an actual attack, it was never stated. I'm pretty sure it was only a melee attack.

Thanx fro the info. I really tought it was an actual attack because of the animation showing some glowing white trails when Froslass swings its hand, very much like Scratch´s/Slash´s animation.

By the way, I managed to watch The Rise of Darkrai in english (I´ve previously seen it in Japanese) and I heard that Torterra´s move is Bullet Seed (even when the animation is different). I´d like to know if in the original language it´s still bullet seed or if it´s indeed Seed Bomb like I originally tought.

I present a piece from a PM Sushi send me back in December 07:

Seed Bomb is not right. Sure, it should be able to use it technically, but this particular Torterra is never seen using anything other than Bullet Seed throughout the entire movie.

FYI, she's VERY trustable

Yeah, I though at first that that was Slash or Scratch, but then I realized that Froslass can't learn any scratching attacks. If that was an actual attack, I can only assume it was Wake-up Slap, but it was never stated, so it can't be confirmed.

Thank you again, now the Seed Bomb slot is empty. Those kind of mistakes keep happening when the animation of the same move varies (this Bullet Seed glows white instead of green). Dragon Rage, for example, is the move whose animation has had the most drastical changes troughout the series. I remember when it was a tornado back in Kanto. In the orange Islands it looked like a simple Flamethrower (Charizard and Dragonite used it) and then in Johto it was an energy orb with sparks (the same Charizard using it in the League). Now, the animators made it a ball of fire with sparkles surrounding it (Wake´s Gyarados and a Gabite).
Your thread (The Move Catalog) have contributed a lot while I was making this list, coz there were some recent episodes which showed some attacks I couldn´t never identify coz I don´t speak japanese at all, but this time I just missed the Seed Bomb mistake.

GalladeRock, that´s exaclty why i thought it was Wake-Up Slap, but clearly as you said, nobody stated it, and in the case of physical attacks, it should´t be listed as one can assume it´s just a melee attack.
Oh, and now that you mention the inability of Frosslass to learn Scratch or Slash, I´m just surprised at the fact that at this point of the series the creators keep violating the game rules, giving absorb to a Bellsprout in the Tangrowth episode. I really thought they stopped doing that stuff years ago (since the illegal Poison Stinging Venonat in "Ariados Amigos").

I know I'm guilty of it, but unless the animation is unique and is seen before. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion to what move it is, especially if the move is something different, Bulbapedia has that problem, they put in whatever the hell they want without backing it up with proof and they solely base their opinion on appearance.

I promise you that unless someone created a sub, if half of the fandom claimed a move was slash, when it was fury swipes (before the episode), I bet you Bulbapedia would put slash down when the episode airs (despite being Fury swipes in the episode, as it was called).

Unless there is a TM or Move Tutor and said Pokemon can't learn it from those, I think its a bit unfair to say every thing a Pokemon does is illegal. Some Pokemon just don't have any means to learn a certain move due to limits. Surely anything with claws can learn scratch/fury swipes. Or a Pokemon with teeth using bite.

If we're talking about a Caterpie using flamethrower, then yes, illegal to the max.
