Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Knights of the Realm (PG-13)

Gamzee Makara

Flirtin' With Disaster
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Knights of the Realm (PG-13)

Welcome to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Knights of the Realm!

Your burden is not only to graduate from the Scrub-to Knight Program via the Trial of The Passing of The Torch, but also to help quell the Shadow Pokémon War with The Milotic Union and restore peace between the lands while performing your required duties in your own country.

The World is in a Mystery Dungeonverse, with the center being a massive metropolis called Torchlight City, surrounded by a smattering of small villages, a port town called Bon Voyage Bay, which has temperate weather (but cold during summer for an unexplained reason). The cities and towns function on a modern technological scale comparable to the human world of our today, but this decays the further one gets from Torchlight City.

It is neighbored by the Milotic Union (An Aristocratic Oligarchy) on the east border, the Marowak Confederacy (A loose group of states with a minimalist government) on the west, the Holy Beartic Empire on the North (A Theocratic Republic run by a Pope of the Helixist faith), and the Wastelands to the south (Where slightly barbaric hordes roam, and are run by chieftains).

The Supreme Ruler of the main continent of the Blissey Kingdom is Her royal Majesty Queen Blissey LXX, with a Parliamentary body consisting of the House of Oldblood (Like the House of Lords, but made of Generation I Pokémon) and the House of Newflesh (Elected officials of Gen II-VI Pokémon).

The queen is also the leader of the Knights, with them being the enforcers of the law, diplomats, superathletes, mages, artists and conquistadors, acting as a combination of defense forces, secret agents, explorers, scientists/researchers, spellcasters and spellbinders, law enforcers, and [REDACTED]. Knights compete with each other in Jousts (a friendly, honorable version of battles based on fencing), Contests (work as a combination of the game and anime versions), Showcases (just like the anime, but with males being allowed), and Tournaments (A more traditional Mystery Dungeon Battle style, but with teams facing off against each other) Unauthorized or rogue Knights are called Kingbreakers. Kingbreakers are often unscrupulous, fanatical and/or corrupted Knights that "break the law to enforce the law", but since a past group of these rogues organized the ancient murder of King Liepard the Iron-Willed, they "broke the king", and have been hated and condemned since. Trainee Knights are called Scrubs. Scrubs must not only take an extensive legal course, undergo purification rituals, but but most important of all, they must train their bodies, minds, hearts, spirits, abilities, stats, powers, skills, moves and any other talents to their physical and artistic limits for the various tasks the Knight life asks total commitment to while working on evolving with the most practical moveset, with an emphasis on learning everything you can do in your previous forms.

Dungeons exist, but are off-limits to all but authorized Knights due to perils such as traps, powerful artifacts not meant to be wielded and "wild" Pokémon still existing in them.

Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are kept from the public's eye due to fear of their exploitation, and are considered nothing but fairy tales and superstition. However, in times of great peril, they may be called upon to do what the Knights cannot. They are then explained away as technology doing the job, or as illusions and such other common excuses for the supernatural.

The laws of the land and the Crown govern how and when moves and move combinations can be used by the public. Knights are mostly exempt from these laws. Science has invented some tech that is absent from the human world, such as sentient AI, fully functional cybernetic, bionic and prosthetic body parts, nanotechnology, completely clean energy from various non-Pokémon sources, and dating sites that actually work...just to name a few advancements.

Wars break out between the Blissey Kingdom and other nations, but very rarely until the Milotic Union got a new Sovereign, Monsieur Milotic the 61st, who decided to start using an artifact called the Shadow Pool his agents stole from The Blissey Kingdom's Prison Temple of the Rings (a Dungeon that even Knights are forbidden from entering because of what is Imprisoned there...), and began turning his soldiers into Shadow Pokémon, which are Pokémon with their hearts erased artificially via forced bathing in the Shadow Pool, in order to conquer all the lands in order to free what should never have been...resulting in the state of war between The Blissey Kingdom and the Milotic Union, with the other nations caught in the crossfire...

...and your characters want to join the Knights for their various reasons...but they only let 1 or 2 of each species's final form in. Once you get through training and the mysterious and secretive Trial of the Passing of the Torch(that your character knows nothing about), you will be able to fulfill your dream, and become a fully licensed Knight...but evil exists in this world, and it hungers for victims...

A few ground rules:
1. All SPFF and Serebii rules apply.
2. No repeat Pokémon unless they have multiple evolutions or are the 1 male and 1 Female Espurr quota.
3. No Godmodding, No bunnying, and no R-rated stuff.
4. Killing others is allowed, but it must be plot-relevant. That species is then opened up, but someone new must take it, and the person who was killed must pick a new but different Pokémon if they wish to continue..
5. Slots may be reserved, but not species of Pokémon. One character per person.
6. No inter-character romantic relationships. I've seen how poorly these are handled.
7. NPCs are controlled/Dungeons, towns, villages and other locations will be named and created by me
8. I reserve the right to change, restore, add and/or remove rules, modkill/modresurrect, reject/ask for the deletion of posts, reject/accept signups, and ban/unban users for any reason I see fit.
10. Have fun!

Here's the form:

Name: (Pretty straightforward, but there is a limit of one-word, 12-character names)

Species: (What Kind of Pokémon are you? However, you must be in your lowest basic form for the start of the RP. No Legendary or Mythical Pokémon)

Gender:

Nature: (A In-Game Nature that must match your personality)

Moves: (Four allowed, must be learn-able in-game, no errors or retconned moves(such as Barrier Dratini or Bug Bite Bellsprout)

Personality and Characteristics(With a little History): (AT least 1 8-sentence long paragraph, with detail and less tropes, especially no special snowflakes or Mary Sues/Gary Stus)

Reason for joining the Knights: (I'll be lenient here, 2 complete sentences for this)

Theme Song: (PG-13 and below, people. No troll links or overly long songs)

Other: (Must be relevant)

And an example of what I'm looking for(NOT my In-game Character, does not reserve the species in question and not for use by an RPer):

Name: Coleen

Species: Espurr

Gender: Cis-Female

Nature: Quirky

Moves: Confusion, Disarming Voice, Toxic, Fake Out

Personality and Characteristics(With a little History):Coleen defines the term "Quirky". She seems to have a creepy stare that goes on forever, and seems rather unnervingly insane, but in reality, she is obsessed with practicing Future Sight for when she evolves. She also has a fondness for roasted Enigma Berries in Tamato sauce, and shares the recipe with everyone. She is only kind, helpful and productive when you try and like her favorite food: otherwise, she simply stares at you, not showing any emotion or movement beyond her using Confusion to levitate herself around.
Coleen hates having her ears NOT touched, which is unusual since most Espurr are afraid to have their hidden power level unleashed. She also reads and collects "Dragonite Ball Z" merchandise a manga featuring an Infernape version of Son Goku. She also has a crippling fear of Darkrai due to it causing the nightmare that turned her into what she is today...

Reason for joining the Knights: (She wants to join the Oneiromancy Corps of the Knights(Also know as the Seers of Dreams). She believes it will make her an even more powerful Meowstic...
Theme Song:

Let's see those entries!

Really and truly
Hi there, welcome to the RPG forum! We ask that all members who want to create or participate in an RPG first read the RPG Rules. For GMs, they contain important information about what is needed in order to start an RP, which makes them vital to read and understand, especially when you ask other RPers to follow said rules. I bring this up because the RPG Rules state that all RPs must contain a plot that is at least 400 words long, which explain the universe of the RP as well as the conflict that drives the story, the important characters, and the RPers' goals over the course of the RP. This is generally written in prose. In this case, that means explaining who/what the Knights are, how Pokemon become Knights, what defines a Kingbreaker, the governmental system, the different kingdoms, important characters, and so on. Technical information, like the use of items, Mega Stones, and Hidden Abilities can be included later since they're less important.

Other things of note:
 • Your rules list goes on pretty long, and you should really consider cutting it down, as a lot of the points are either moot or repetitive, or that info could just be provided in the sign-up section of the post. Take a look at other RP's and their rules lists for a better idea.
 • Smogon culture generally doesn't come up during RPs, as the tactics one would use in competitive battling don't really apply to RPing, so you don't need to worry about this. That said, you shouldn't be banning a moveset just because Smogon uses it.
 • We don't really allow GMs to ban LGBTQA characters, so saying you allow them is pretty moot.
 • Don't ask for a character's sex and gender. Gender is the only important one - asking for a character's biological sex just boils down to "tell me what genitals your character has," and that is a really unnecessary question. Please remove this.

I will leave this thread open pending that you make the appropriate changes, including adding the 400-word plot, trimming down your rules and editing your sign-up form. Please do this before accepting any RPers. If you'd like help or advice or have any questions, please feel free to ask me or post in the Rules thread. :) Thanks!

Edit: Looks good to me! Feel free to start accepting sign-ups. :)
