Before Gen 5 i had actually only ever nicknamed one pokemon. and that was when i was like ten, and i thought the idea of trading over a pokemon to a friend with a swear word for a name, only to have the name rater say 'you can't change this pokemon's name as it holds the love and respect of the past trainer towards his pokemon'; HILARIOUS. (its still pretty funny when you think about it :D)

anyways the only starter i was interested in was snivy. because of his apperence i actually considered calling him 'B**** please', but instead i called him 'Ace♠' (as in ace of spades i am a genius :p). I like the name ace, saw the spade symbol and couldn't help myself. it looks pretty sharp to me in my party.
i haven't nicknamed anything else.

Love the Disney-inspired nicknames. Roger the Elgeyem is just awesome. I don't know why I never thought of that XD

Every Pokemon I use on my team is nicknamed (and pokemon that have been on my team for any amount of time as well)

So, here goes:

Escavalier: Quixote
Golurk: Titanus
Samurott: Triton
Reuniclus: Mendell
Whimsicott: Puff Mama
Sawk: Alexander
Eelektross: Tesla
Scrafty: Banksy
Archeops: Hermes
Jellicent: Willhelm
Haxorus: Orthanc
Darmanitan: Suerte!
Krookodile (2): Loki and Sebek
Lilligant: Belle
Carracosta: Crush

that's all I've got off the top of my head. I have a tendency to only use Pokemon indigenous to a region and this is the first generation I've decided to name pokemon.

My favorite and most cherished nickname ever is Cindy, which I gave to a Tailow, my first ever flying type. Now, Cindy one 2 master rank contests in Emerald, when I realized that Cindy was a guy! DERP! So, I renamed him Sam, and I wish I could find Sam and my Swampert for my Emerald, so I can get them to my Gen 4 games, as I am really lacking a DS with a GBA slot.

One of the best nicknames I have seen is a Gastrodon named FdelGastro

I am not good at coming up with nicknames on my own.

Litwick-KAWAIIDESU!
I typically like to have all my pokemon starting with the same letter so...

Emboar - Firefist: pretty self-explanatory
Zoroark (not the event one, an egg from a friend.) - Foeditas: Horror in latin
Gothitelle - Femmebrune: a translation of dark lady to french i think.
Vanilluxe: Froiduer: Coldness in french
Leavanny: Faenum: Latin for grass, but sounds cool
Seismitoad: Frog: Ran out of ideas derp :p

jstinftw!

hey trainer
Ok, so I was just introducing my new party to my girlfriend, and I had opened up the conversation with, "Meet my Scraggy, Nachoe."

She flipped shizz and next thing I knew, she was naming it for me. We started with Toby, but we later named it Coco. "I see london, I see france, I see coco's underpants!" (Rugrats reference, for those who didn't catch it).

And I thought, hm. I'll let her name my Pokemon. Make her happy, and I really just wanted to be sure that they were real useable names.

So she started listing off nicknames for each Pokemon and this is the final list:

Bob the Jellicent (Monsters vs. Aliens. BOB is the blue jelly thing, which is what Jellicent is)
Coco the Scrafty (already explained)
Mushu the Druddigon (Mulan dragon reference)
Rafiki the Carracosta (Lion King reference. I really don't know, but it seems ok)
Zazu the Eelektross (another lion king reference. She really is adamant about this one, and it's ok I guess.)
Alodia the Musharna (my only real contribution. I caught my first Musharna at a cosplay event in the Philippines, and Alodia was the main star. I caught my Musharna, so I decided I might as well. And we thought it was a pretty name, so there it is)

Yes, my girlfriend is a disney fan. And yes, she just finished watching the Lion King 3D. I love her.
