im going to pax aus at the start of november/end of october and im not sure if i should be disappointed that these won't be out in time or glad that il probably get to play them early there.

I'll be there as well.

Would be good if they had a demo for the game set up.

I can hardly believe it's happening but it is which makes the hype all the more real.

I am so friggin pumped BUT I do wonder: Will we get a PokeBank update for the remakes?

Pokebank has been capable of working with any game released after X/Y since the start.

Surely Pokebank is future-proofed.
Pokebank was developed not only for XY but for future titles as well, so ORAS should be compatible.

Even if it isn't already built to handle it, of course it would get updated. It's literally the entire point of the Bank.

While this has been already answered, in addition to the PokéBank your X/Y games will also give Pokémon from OR/AS games the blue hexagon marker, as the early hackers who tried to mess with PokéBank found that the hexagon marker works for four additional sets of games in addition to X/Y, and OR/AS are the second sets of games in this generation. So any compatibility issue that might occur will be related to new forms and new items, not the games themselves. Everything has been mostly planned out already.*

*Though your Pokémon might still have a different marker in the OR/AS games symbolising Hoenn, if it is indeed a region marker and not a generational one. Additionally, that new marker might be patched in for the original X/Y. But it is not too likely that they will bother, as they will force you to use OR/AS in VGCs anyways.

I have logged into an account I haven't touched in... what, 5, 6 years? just to talk about this.

I have seen the release that states its a remake and not a sequel, which is good. sequels aren't bad but what I really want is a remake. I've seen too many people come up with theories about how its an all new game, such as "Alpha is A and Omega is Z, A+Z = King Z, as such King AZ and Zygarde are involved!" and they were totally serious.

My own theory about why they used Alpha and Omega is that Alpha represents the beginning, and Omega represents the end. You need both to have proper balance, just as you need both the land and sea for proper balance. Alpha ties to Sapphire since all life originated in the oceans, the "Alpha" of life. Life later went to land, the current "Omega" of life. tying it with Ruby. Team Aqua wants the "Alpha" to dominate the "Omega", and Team Magma wants to the "Omega" to dominate over the "Alpha". both cause a disturbance in the balance, which is a theme of R/S.

lol wow. Well, eventually we'll probably see a Z version or X and Y 2. I think most likely this time it will be a Z version, because usually they'll do a remake of an older game and then after that a year maybe, they'll put out the third that goes with the first two games.

As for the Alpha and Omega thing, yah that makes sense since Team Magma and Aqua were fighting each other.

So hyped for these, Ruby was the first game that I really sank loads of hours into one file, a save file that is still going to this day, I've even traded my team to Emerald, cloned them using the battle tower glitch and imported the clones all the way to X and Y, so this really will be coming full circle. And while I loved Yellow, my first Pokemon, and GSC, there was just something about Ruby that I loved more than the others. The graphics blew me away after all the years of gen 2's 8 bit graphics, even something as simple as staring into the player's reflection in the water.

The only thing I was a but bummed about was the lack of hype. The teaser video looked like it was put together in an afternoon, a likely response to Nintendo's poor financial figures. It really did come out of nowhere and was sure that the remakes would be after Z (which I thought would come out next year) putting the remakes at a 2016 release.

But I started to realise that this makes way more sense, and to me, spells something much greater coming soon. I looked at the release dates between third versions and remakes and noticed something quite interesting:
(Jp release - US release - EU release)

Red Green Blue
1996 - 1998 - 99
Yellow
1998 - 1999 - 00
Gold Silver
1999 - 2000 - 01
Crystal
2000 - 2001
Ruby Sapphire
2002 - 2003
FireRed LeafGreen
2004 - 2004
Emerald
2004 - 2005
Diamond Pearl
2006 - 2007
Platinum
2008 - 2009
HeartGold SoulSilver
2009 - 2010
Black White
2010 - 2011
Black 2 White 2
2012 - 2012
X Y
2013
OmegaRuby AlphaSapphire
2014

Not only have the release dates gotten nearer, as in now they are worldwide, but Pokemon has basically become an annual release, at least in the West. But it would seem that if Japan was going to take a year break as seen in 2007 and 2011, this would have been the year to do so. So assuming they don't 'miss' a year in 2015, it's safe to say that Z or X2/Y2 will come in 2015. Now this would make for a short generation as would also mean they have to pull a Meloetta and not give Volcanion/Hoopa the limelight like they deserve with 2015's movie, as 2016 would be promoting Gen 7. Which leads me to believe that there is another Gen 6 game being released in 2016, to stall the generation a bit longer to the usual 4 years. 2016 also happens to be the year of Pokemon's 20th Anniversary...
Pokemon Red and Green 20th Anniversary Editions
This would mean every gen of Pokemon could be played on a 3DS; Gens 2, 4, 5 with backwards compatibility and Gens 1, 3 and 6 on 3DS.

Anyway I digress, I hope that ORAS incorporate a lot of Emerald's features such as the Battle Frontier and the combined story of Groudon and Kyogre. I also want to see better rivals with May being strong and Wally going all the way and being a real threat. And some cameos from new characters would be cool as well. If possible something like the PWT from B2W2 for gym leader rematches everywhere. Mega Evolutions would be welcomed as well! I suppose the real question is will we have to wait until E3 for the first bit of news or will this month's corocoro deliver?

well if the OR/AS is a full remake then XY timeline is same as RSE and RBY :O?

I have this sponge..
What is E3?
E3 is the Electronic Entertainment Expo. It's basically where game developers show off their new games and build up hype. It's always been a good source for information on new pokemon games or any new games in general.
Big announcements usually happen at these things, and this game being announced a month before E3 means we will most probably see something there relating to ORSA.

The symbols on Kyogre's fin represent the letter "A" and the symbols on Groudons hand represent the letter "O". This is probably why it's called Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Didn't realize that...but its a pretty clever idea though. Never would have gotten that.

It's not gonna be an exact copy-paste. They'll definitely change the story a bit. Just look at the covers.

i think if it full remake i can only see the story is same just they gonna add more story in post games
