• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Concerning holidays, I can't possibly imagine ORAS releasing post-Black Friday. That'd just be crazy.

Also, E3 and Corocoro are within a few days of each other. I'm wondering if the same things that get unveiled at E3 will be what's shown in Corocoro, or if we'll get the E3 info and then a few other new things in Corocoro.

I'm guessing at E3 they'll probably show a gameplay trailer similar to XY's release trailer, and then not really explain much except for the most significant new features, like an upgraded Hoenn Dex, new Mega Evolutions, or a significant new communication feature. They'll probably also at least give us the names for Groudon/Kyogre's new forms, but if they're not Mega Evolutions, then they probably won't reveal how they change forms.

CoroCoro will probably just do what they usually do for the first significant gameplay reveal, show off the starters and character art. They also promised information on legendaries, but I'm guessing it's not going to be too much. They'll probably repeat whatever they say about Groudon/Kyogre, maybe adding Rayquaza to the mix, and officially reveal the Mega Lati twins. That's about all I'd expect as far as legendaries for now, but if they have room for more, some other topics I think they could cover is adding Regigigas to the Hoenn Dex (and unless they don't add anything to the Hoenn Dex whatsoever, I think there's a good chance of this happening), and in game events akin to past events like Sinjoh Ruins in HGSS, Zorua and Zoroark in BW1, and Pledge Grove in BW2.

Probably won't be as much as we'd all like, but enough to keep the hype train rolling.

Isn't Black Friday only a thing in America?
I'm not sure if they'd factor that in

Yeah, but it's still huge. The amount of money that changes hands on Black Friday is ridiculous. Even an overseas manufacturer knows the potential sales they could have on Black Friday.

yes they do. if the company says so they do. besides I think they made that already in countries with the x y release

No they don't. I work in retail, this does not happen. You get a date, and that's it. A company cannot restrict to a certain time of day.

How do you guys think Christmas fares into the release of ORAS? Is an end-of-the-month release more likely to earn more purchases for the upcoming Christmas season? Or does it not really matter if it's released at the beginning or end of the month; they'll still get an equal number of Christmas purchases just because it's November?

I don't think it'll make a difference as far as Pokemon is concerned.

It's a North American thing now, pretty much. Still not as crazy here as it is in the States, but regardless, a lot of sales come out of the States.

I'm sorry that you think we don't buy enough Pokemon to be relevant.
I was just saying do you really think so many sales come out of America that they would base the worldwide (I could see your point if there were separate dates for Japan, Europe, America etc) release date around it?

No need to get all defensive and weird about it.

Honestly they might. Black Friday is absolutely huge, and North America pretty much always matches or exceeds Japanese sales. So releasing it before a huge spending spree would be a great way to boost sales numbers for Q4.

Well, yes. America is a huge market for games, for certain games (although not Pokemon) the biggest market. Also, it doesn't really hurt sales in other territories if they release it then (in fact, it actually helps the other Western territories as well because of its proximity to Christmas), so why not take advantage of the sales boost?

I hope that it will be an actual remake and not a game all about stupid fairies and digivolving, I mean mega evolution.

Prepare to have your hopes dashed, then. Remakes have always been about exploring previous games with the features of the current Generation.

I know that it will include the two but what I mean is I hope they don't put full focus on them and keep to the original story.

Xy, the game that had both fairies and mega evolving, brushed the former off with incidental dialog and stopped harping on the latter after the 3rd gym

so i will go out on a limb and say oras will barely cover them

Yeah, I mean FRLG didn't make any sort of deal about Dark/Steel types and those were introduced in Gen II.

Not to mention in FR/LG breeding wasn't available until you've beaten the Elite 4 an get access to Island 4. Breeding was introduced in Gen II as well an could be accessed before the third gym. Chances are Mega Evolution won't get added until post game in OR/AS after beating the Elite 4, etc.
At least that's what I'm expecting, maybe we'll get a surprise visit from Prof. Sycamore with the Mega ring and a Mega Stone for our starter, or were just given it Prof. Birch that just randomly has it somehow or by some other way.

yes I'm back
I absolutely love how they are starting to launch all the pokemon games worldwide now at the same time. I hated having to wait a year for the games to be translated.

We have that here in Canada, too. I believe it is only a North American thing.

Citizen Insane

Eh, life is a game.
I read on a Dutch website that the two games are going to be released on the 30rd of November. I assume it's not true?
