So hot he's on fire.
Even -I- have to agree with that. >___> I mean, we should have at least seen the Mansion and the Game Corner. BUT ONOES THAT ARE GAMBLING. I bet it woulda been banned if they did. >__>

We saw gambling in the episode they introduced Jigglypuff. It's just the writers short changing poor Celadon because it meant too much in the games. Mr. Fuji got screwed over as did the Rock Tunnel. Do the writers even bother to play the games.

Kanto was rushed and Johto and Hoenn were stretched out to the point of absurdity. Two years is a good period to get through a region. That gives us about 100 episodes and should have enough time for all the gyms and side quests but not bury us in pointless unwanted fillers.

Expanding out into Celadon City. We didn't get to squat see of it. It's the largest city in the whole region and it gets one episode. No game corner, no TR hideout. Just the gym battle. It deserved much more recognition.
I always considered the next two episodes to be a continuation of Tamamushi City. Even though it's given a different name in episode 27, they're still technically in the same city, since they were never shown leaving Tamamushi. The same can be said for episode 28.

that what i thought too. think of it like Celdon city as Tokyo, and Hop Hop Hop and other minor places within Celdon City as Shinjuku and other minor place within Tokyo. After all, Kanto represent Japan alot and maybe Celdon city represent Tokyo since both are suppose to be the biggest city.

I'm talking about cannon Celadon though. I means, there's so much crap in that town to do to. There's the game corner, TR's hideout, the mansion, the cafeteria, the hotel. Lots of things they could have made an episode or two out of.

yea that true. they should have done that. then again, they should have done Siloph corp in Saffron too.

She didn't know. However Jessie shoved the vile they nabbed for the world to see. I think Erika would know what she put the gloom oil in.

Isn't the one in scissor street and the one in the big mansion ontop of the skyscraper in celedon
also, they missed out Power plant, Seafoam islands, Victory Road and unknown Dungeon!

yes but Seafoam island wasn't an island of ice or has a artic enviroment in it but instead, was another tropical island.

Shoot, they missed out everything. It's funny though, on Johto and Hoenn they covered the majority of it. They also never did the Team Rocket hideout either in the game corner. I think Kanto was very loosely done when comparing to the games.

Back on this episode. Erika was one of the first gym leaders I seen and liked. (Back then, I hated the guys in the series. I was more on Girl Power! I was 11 or 12. Well today, not anymore, it's almost the opposite.) First episode I recorded too. I remembered long time ago when I didn't get the POkemon series, I thought Ash had to do something to impress her, like he did with Gloom saving the fire.

I thought Ash crossdressing was funny. I loved that part. That proves he'll do whatever he takes to battle. I also found funny with the x's on Ash and Team Rocket's faces was crazy. Its sucks they don't do that anymore.

Erika was cute, I used to laugh the way she and her girls treated Ash as he dissed the perfume. I was fooled how Erika was the manager under the kimono. That took me years to figure that one out.

Overall I liked this one. 8.8 out of 10.

I thought the ornate outline of vines and spinning Glooms would be a dead giveaway. (I wonder why they did that.) *ponders*

It's creepy how Ash was more convincing as a girl in "Love at First Flight" at age 13/14 than he was in this episode at age 10. :p James was also pretty creepy in his old man disguise.

It's also interesting that Team Rocket were the ones who finally got Ash into the gym to battle Erika. :)

I was thinking. Do you think the gym was changed after the fire. (Hopefully they bothered to install proper fire surpression systems.)

Many of us are hoping Erika will reappear in the Battle Frontier Saga. :D

I think the reason the anime producers omitted so much from the Kanto region is because, early on, they didn't know how long the series would last, so they hedged their bets and just kinda sped through the first two-thirds of the region. Then when the show's popularity skyrocketed, they started to slow it down a bit (evidenced by that long string of about thirty or so filler episodes between Sekichiku City and Guren Island) so they could make the show last longer.

Though they could have had them come back to Tamamushi for them.

This should have been turned into a two episode arc. At the end of this episode, Erika should allow Ash to battle her again. The next episode should be him in Celadon City, then battling her for the badge. Anyone else agree?

Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. It would be cool if they have a rematch during the Battle Fronteir arc though.
