You can catch multiple UBs that are version exclusive? Great, getting the other version's will be less of a pain(Assuming the GTS isn't immediately spammed with impossible trades)

I am happy my 2 favourite UBs are not version exlusive (Nihilego and Guzzlord) and I don't really care about the rest so I am good.
Edit: But I like Celesteena too, it's not too much of a favourite but I like It more than the other ones, I still go and buy both sun and moon so it's not such a huge deal

Why does it have to be Looker again? I never found him interesting, important, or even remotely appealing. I'd have preferred they be like the legendaries from previous games (DP, B/W, ORAS) where you have to go to some hidden place, do some sort of puzzle, and then unlock the ability to battle them. The Looker quests are just... lame to me.
I'm in love with everything else about these games though. I'm so happy. I can't wait to go pick up my games next week.

gen 6 went out of its way to give you as many options as possible between its 4 games as as to not require Bank for importing. Even XY had a large majority thanks to friend safari, iirc, and still had 454 available to you otherwise. ORAS was, of course, legendary fun times.
Not sure if you would consider it available in the game, but there's also Greninja from the demo.

You did just note that Gen 6 made options available over the course of four games. There's a good chance of Gen 7 having 4 or 5 games, accounting for hypothetical Sinnoh remakes and a possible third version or sequel set, so it's really not all that surprising that a little over half the dex is missing.
Furthermore, the largest number of missing Pokemon comes from Hoenn, which we just visited and which will have one-way compatibility with SM through Bank. Another 73 can be transferred from the Gen I virtual console releases that came out just this year.
Overall, sure, it could be a lot better, but on the bright side it could also be far worse given that there are only two games so far.

I mean the Pokebank isn't that much of a hassle, I mean it is pretty cheap for a one year service. I was getting the feeling that is how the national dex would be obtained in a future update. I would be fine with that since more and more pokemon are being added so its nice to have pokebank able to store them for future games. I think the only negative remark with pokebank is that we have to wait two months before it is usable for S/M.
UB-03 is actually Xurkitree, with Kartana and Celesteela being UB-04's(them not being directly after UB-02's is why I suspect CoroCoro keeps their code names hidden).
Anyway, neither UB-03 nor UB-04 are unique.

Well if we look at bank transfers then none of it matters because XYORAS just sold an extra several million this year
