The games are being released in late 2016, so is this the end of XY?

Since it's being released on Holiday 2016. That means Nov/Dec.

So that's a long time for the XY anime to run. The new series may start off in 2017.

We don't even have a clear idea what they are. It's safe to assume gen 7 though. We should wait a bit on this.

Im not sure Fletchling's wings bend like that

Nope. It's blue/dark and has a spiky head.

Team flare will be wrapped up by early summer, Ash gets his badges by end of summer, league at fall, Sun/Moon begins at winter.

I'm rather bummed that this could mean no third version again. A set of new mega evolutions would've been a perfect send off before Gen VII. I'm still waiting on a mega flygon that could be released in a hypothetical Pokemon Enerald remake or new Zygarde forms in Pokemon Z. Though they could still happen since we have around a year.

The wings aren't even the same, the number of feathers doesn't even match.

Why would they show a Fletchling being created in a montage of footage which appears to all be related to Sun and Moon?
