Pokémon Sword & Shield Team Discussion Thread

I was worried Snom late appearance would ruin its role as a member of my team particularly since evolving through friendship probably takes time, but I just lucked out while training for the 4th Gym and got one on a raid fight (with good nature, IVs and female as I wanted). The game was probably paying me off for how ridiculously long it took to find an Impidimp with Prankster (and no -Att Nature) at Motostoke Hillside.

And with this my team is complete. So far they all Lv.34 (on their way to), except Snom because just caught:

    Thwackey (no nickname yet)
    - Doublt Hit
    - Razor Leaf
    - Knock Off
    - Screech

    Orbeetle (Doktor Meister)
    - Bug Buzz
    - Reflect
    - Light Screen
    - Psybeam

    Thievul (Renarto)
    - Psychic
    - Shadow Ball
    - Snarl
    - Sucker Punch

    Dubwool (Beige Phillip)
    - Headbutt
    - Zen Headbutt
    - Double Kick
    - Guard Swap

Morgrem (no nickname ever because Impidimp/Morgrem/Grimmsnarl are the best names one can possibly have)
    - Leech Life
    - Sucker Punch
    - False Surrender
    - Dazzling Gleam

    Snom (no nickname yet)
    - Struggle Bug
    - Powder Snow

What pokemon, new or otherwise would fit a sports themed team, like how Scorbunny is soccer themed.

I thought I had my team pretty well planned out, but halfway through my playthrough I realized I have no way of dealing with Fire-types. Literally the ONLY supereffective move I could find for any of my team members was Mud Shot for my Cinderace.

I’m not finished with the game yet, but here’s what I got for my team so far. (Just for main game completion, not competitive yet)

    Cinderace (Deku)
    -Blaze Kick
    -Iron Head

    Dubwool (Argali)
    -Body Slam
    -Zen Headbutt
    -Cotton Guard
    -Body Press

    Orbeetle (Ms. Mind)
    -Bug Buzz
    -Giga Drain
    -Light Screen

    Mr. Rime (Tappers)
    -Ice Beam
    -Dazzling Gleam

    Weezing (Dimmadoug)
    -Strange Steam
-Unknown at this point, I’m thinking Will-O-Wisp maybe?
(As aside note, Weezing wound up with a nature that lowers Attack, so Sp. Atk is a bit higher, hence the lack of physical moves)

    Sirfetch’d (Sticks)
    -Brick Break
    -Brave Bird
    -Leaf Blade
-Not sure, either Throat Chip, Steel Wing, or Poison Jab

Sudden thought but do you think for like a member of the team, if i needed a flying type, would a corviknight be good, to represent like, gothic music?

    Definitely could work

might have Corviknight take the place of Obstagoon

I want my me to have night slash so I'm going to have to breed it into one.

think alcremie would be good to represent bubblegum pop music and impidimp representing.....i dunno, techno? also what new water type would be good to represent music?

Alcremie could definitely work with bubblegumpop. Impidimp's line gives me more of a goth vibe. Can't really connect any new Water Type with a music genre unfortunately

    Maybe Drednaw could represent country?

Good point. That could definitely work

I don’t really want to get into breeding for the main game though, I think Throat Chop will serve that purpose just fine. I need something for Psychic coverage, after all.

My Shield team is probably one of my favourite teams ever!

Intellion (fastly becoming my favourite starter, sorry feraligatr)

    Arcanine (favourite pokemon)

    Appletun (gigantimax user)
  14. Monster Guy

    Monster Guy Fairy type Trainer

    My final team

    Cinderace (Mr. BunBun)
    Boltund (Zoe)
    Obstagoon (Ziggy)
    Pangoro (Panda)
    Alcremie (Sweetie)
    Chandelure (Veronica)

Not the team I was expecting to use, but I love them all.

I had wanted to use Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash, but by the time I encountered one, I had a full team and I was attached to them. Same with Appletun, except I didn’t know where to find it until it was too late. A lot of the Pokemon I want in this game are rare/appear late. :/

Dreepy and his line remind me a lot of Pascal the chameleon sidekick from the Disney movie Tangled (Rapunzel). He’s super cute. So in honor of Pascal I came up with a nickname for Drakloak: Pasqueal. It’s a combination of Pascal and Squeal because of the spooky ghost typing. And it’s female so it fits in that regard too. And it’s now on my ever growing team... (ditched the starter btw)

    Pasqueal (Drakloak) level 49
    Appletini (Appletun) level 46
    Loki (Grimmsnarl) level 49
    Pyrosite (Centiskorch) level 47
    Frappè (Frosmoth) level 47
    Death Petal (Roserade) level 46
    Shade (Obstagoon) level 47
    Starship (Orbeetle) level 46
    Pixiepipes (G-Weezing) level 47
  16. British Soul

    British Soul Top Hat Regulator

It took a while, but I have my teams planned out for when I get the games.
    Inteleon (00 Lizard)
    Corviknight (Nevermore)
    Flapple (Dr Tart)
    Coalossal (Fossil Fuel)
    Sirfetch'd (Artorigus)
    Runerigus (Yu Pagoda)

    - Shield
    Cinderace (Kagari)
    Drednaw (Koopa)
    Toxtricity (Punk Rocker)
    Dragapult (Shiranui)
    Hatterene (Vanessa)*
    Sandaconda (Darude)

For reference, I originally wanted to use Goodra in Shield, but it was dropped. I may drop Dragapult for Goodra anyway, in that case I'd use Grimmsnarl instead of Hatterene.
The * next to Hatterene indicates that I'd rather have a shiny one because of her name.
  17. Miar

    Miar I got one right!

Honestly, I've been cycling between 20+ Mons to keep them from getting too OP with the XP system.
I do at least have an endgame team in mind for this first run:

Scorbunny Shiny Arcanine (I wear jersey #59 because of this)
    Indeedee or Gallade

I mentioned earlier that I have a Weezing on my team. However, I have two potential move sets for it. Which one should I go with?

    1: Strange Steam/Sludge Bomb/Toxic/Smokescreen

    2: Strange Steam/Toxic/Venoshock/Will O Wisp
  19. Ignition

    Ignition Champion SZN

    The second one
