Pokémon Tournaments Forum Rules & Guidelines Thread (READ BEFORE POSTING)

Welcome to the Official Pokémon Tournaments forum. Over here you will be able to host Pokémon based tournaments. Just be familiar with the rules before hosting anything.

***OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT FORUM RULES***
In summary:

  1. Follow All Serebii Rules.
  2. You are only allowed to have ONE TOURNAMENT active at a time.
  3. Don't bother mods to approve your threads.
  4. STAY ON TOPIC.
  5. Keep this strictly Pokemon based.
  6. Finalise your tournament before submitting.
  7. Do not attempt to host official tournaments.
  8. Ask for permission before taking over a tournament.
  9. Tournaments that go inactive for 7 days get closed.
  10. Do not team reveal.
  11. Bad sportsmanship is not allowed.
  12. Be familiar with the Serebii Standard Rules.

1. Follow All Serebii Rules.

Follow all SPPf rules. These rules applies to the sub-forums on the site, and the tournament section is no different.

2. You are only allowed to have ONE TOURNAMENT active at a time.

You can only have one tournament thread active at a time. If you want to start another tournament, you will need to be wait until the current tournament you're hosting comes to a close.

3. Don't bother mods to approve your threads.

All threads in this section must be approved by a Competitive Forum Staff Member. Do not PM or bother staff members to get your thread approved. We will get to it in time.

4. STAY ON TOPIC.

Can't stress this enough STAY ON TOPIC. Flaming, spamming, trolling, random messages, etc are not allowed. What is meant by staying on topic is only discussing the current tournament going on in your thread. Failure to obey this rule MULTIPLE TIMES BY MULTIPLE MEMBERS will result in offending tournament threads being locked for week, if it happens again after your tournament is unlocked, the thread will be locked indefinitely.

5. Keep this strictly Pokemon based.

All tournaments created in this section are only allowed to be Pokémon based. As this is the Competitive Pokémon forum, it wouldn't make sense to host a tournament which is based on Mario Kart or Smash Bros, would it? Any tournament found breaking this rule will not be approved.

6. Finalize your tournament before submitting.

Before submitting your tournament for approval, make sure everything is finalized. What this means is that you need to make sure your rules are set in place, images are ready and that you have a description of what your tournament is about. Failure to have any of these will result in your thread not getting approved.

7. Do not attempt to host official tournaments (or attempt to replicate them).

Official Tournaments are only allowed to be hosted by the Competitive Forum Staff or people with special permission granted. Only I can grant permission for official tournaments to be hosted, and this rule is related to the one I'm about to talk about below. Additionally, don't attempt to try and copy official tournaments. Any tournament sent for approval which uses a concept extremely similar to an existing official tournament will be denied.

8. Ask for permission before taking over a tournament.

If you want to take over what seems to be an abandoned tournament, you will need to get permission from the original creator if he / she is still around. If they haven't signed into Serebii or been active within the competitive community for a significant amount of time (one year), then you are free to take over the tournament without getting permission.

All communications is expected to happen on Serebii, so if the tournament hoster is banned, they are incapable of granting permission for tournaments on the forums. They have no say in whether a tournament can be taken over. If you want to take control of a tournament of a banned person, then the time limit rule is wavered and you're allowed to (it's recommended to double check with me to see if the ban is permanent or temporary though).

People that take control of a tournament midway become the "official" hoster of that tournament, so you should go to them for permission, not the person that made the thread originally.

9.Tournaments that go inactive for 7 days get closed.

Tournaments will be closed if they have not had a new post in 7 days. Spamming to prevent closure is not allowed.

10. Do not team reveal.

DO NOT REVEAL any Pokemon, moves, items, etc of your opponents team. First 2 offenses will be dealt with as stated above in the opening message. Third offense will be another "Continuously disobeying the Rules of a specific sub-forum" infraction worth 6 points plus a week long ban. Every occurrence afterwards will get the same punishment with the ban being a week longer in length.

11. Bad Sportsmanship is not allowed.

Being a sore loser / bad sport does nothing but sour the tournament experience for everyone. Keep it out of threads or risk an infraction.

12. Be familiar with the Serebii Standard Rules.

When making a tournament, please be aware of the standard rules of battling. This goes for both tournament hosts and all tournament competitors.

Amended rule 7 "Do not attempt to host official tournaments".

Amendments: Don't copy official tournaments + Permission must be granted for official tournaments to be hosted.

Also amended rule 8 stating that you can take a tournament off someone if that person has been inactive for a year.
