PokéRus... my mom wants to get rid of it...

Hello, MGD here!

My mom, is playing her Pokémon Fire Red. My mom has a Gulpin traded to her by my dad. The Gulpin has the PokéRus. I said to my mom that the PokéRus is bensficial. But my mother insists that she wants to get rid of the PokéRus.

So, to prevent a very angry mama, she wants to get rid of the PokéRus in her Fire Red game cartridge. Is this possible?

Don't listen to me!
The only way I know that would actually rid you of it would be to wait it out, and not let other pokemon catch it...

The other option is that you show her the Serebii write up on the virus, then she knows you are telling the truth when you say it's beneficial... otherwise... there isn't really a way... if pokerus was bad there would... but it's good, so there isn't

She'll have to trade her Pokemon back to a Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald game with a working internal clock (no Berry Glitch, battery is not dead) and leave it in the party for a couple of days to get rid of the Pokerus. If the Pokemon stays in FireRed, it will never lose the Pokerus.

Here's what ya do. Have her trade you the gulpin and say you'll have it gone within a few days. This way you get Pokérus and she's not all angry.

If she wants to get rid of it have only the one pokemon that has the pokerus in her team so it won't spread. Then make lots of visits to the Pokemon Center because I heard(I think here) that it gets rid of it after a while.

If I were you, i'd present the alternative: an ugly, ETERNAL black dot on the status screen. At least the 'Rus looks spiffy.

Since theres no internal clock you can't just wait it out, putting it in the PC wouldn't help either even if it wasn't FR or LG because thats how you keeps it so your mom's only optionss are to trade it back or to you or to release it.

That just isn't true. The first time you get Pokerus in your game and you talk to the lady in a Pokemon Center, she will tell you that one of your Pokemon has a strange affliction. But she will still heal your entire team, including any Pokemon with Pokerus. She just can't cure them of the Pokerus. Pokerus is an entirely beneficial occurence. It has no drawbacks. The only effect it has is the positive effect of allowing the afflicted Pokemon to earn Effort Points at an accelerated rate.
