Pokéventure Fun Park (PG-13)

Approx. Time: 2 PM

The island begins to still. The chaos has subsided for the time being as people pick themselves up and the abominations seem to be sated. Some larger beasts lurk around the hotel while little ones scurry around it. The park is nearly abandoned. A few stray people and monsters navigate through the wreckage to escape to either the hotel or that giant hole in the ground respectively. More beasts still guard the hole, but they appear to only be sentries. Few shops are left intact and even fewer rides were unbroken.

At the hotel, staff members have managed to bar the main doors, windows, and many of the hallways of rooms through which mutants had broken in. For now, they have secured two floors and ten rooms past the main lobby and everyone is gathered around to discuss a plan of action. The possibility of reaching the dock to take the ferry had been shot down by the number of monsters surrounding the building and fending them off proved difficult enough.

“Please settle down everybody,” Jennifer McLean park manager affirmed, “The staff and I are working on an evacuation procedure now so please just have some patience. We will ensure your safety as long as you continue to comply with us. Thank you.” She sounded less anxious than she let on. Much of her staff was missing and that left her with less help than she needed. Her lead mechanic, Bailey, was her only higher up staff. Most of her security staff was unaccounted for which would have been her most useful asset in this situation. The PA system was down, the PC’s at the front of the park were destroyed, but they were on receive only due to the quarantine anyway, and she had no contact outside of the hotel. The most troublesome thought, though, was there was no way off the island. As far as Jennifer knew, the quarantine was impassable until outside forces gave the ok and she couldn’t count on their help.

Suddenly, a gentle voice hums in the minds of every person on the island. I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. We will not rest until we receive justice for the abuse we endured. If you bring the leader of this island to the hole through which we surfaced, the rest of you shall be spared. We only wish reconciliation for our suffering. If the leader is not brought to us, more pain will ensue. You have until sunrise. Stillness once again. The mutants began to leave the hotel. Jennifer’s face became a shade paler as the message sunk in.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Somewhere in the mountain caves, far from the park, a tunnel leads to a large cavern filled with what looks like Pokémon. The creatures are not quite right though, sometimes with sores or ulcers, most of them are combinations of species that should not be. They rest and celebrate their newfound freedom from under the island. At the edge of the cave atop a rock formation sits a large mutation, the unspoken leader of these beasts. It has the legs of a Kangaskhan, the middle section of a Dusclops, and the head of a Lapras. Altaria wings are folded on its back and the tails of a Ninetales frame the creature. It waits patiently for the humans to heed its message. It has waited long enough for this moment to wait just a little longer now.
Cael Lancaster
Park Entrance
Pokemon: Sorrel (Meganium), Dover (Golduck), Topaz (Skarmory), Zero (Glaceon)
Cael approached the park entrance flying on Topaz, but slowed her as a huge wall of sand blocked their path. The sand wouldn't hurt Topaz any, but it was blocking access to the PC. "Whoa, girl..." he muttered, and she began circling the sand. Soon enough however, the sand oddly began to move. With a jolt of realization he wondered if that was actually Mel - his pokemon were all ground types, and he had used the same move before when he had saved them from the kadabra-steelix-salamence monster. "Down!" Cael ordered, and his skarmory dove toward the park entrance PCs.
He knew he'd have to think quickly. He plugged in his trainer ID and brought up his pokemon storage account. Before leaving, he'd instructed the gym trainers to take out his ice-types to train and had given the school permission to take out whatever they needed as well. He would have never thought he'd be in desperate need of a formidable team. "They really took my offer seriously..." Cael muttered as he leafed through the available pokemon. "Triplet's gone, Kamikaze's gone... what would they have needed a gyarados for?!" His frustration turned to relief when he spotted that his tyranitar was still in storage - the only one of his champion team in there. She was nearly 500 pounds, aggressive, and awful with the children, so that didn't come as much of a surprise to him. What did come as a surprise was how many of his tamer pokemon were still in here. Maybe they were having mock battles today? Perhaps Pryce went to lend a hand - that made sense to him. He selected his final pokemon based on her speed and ability to fit into tight spaces - a furret he had bred himself named Julia.
He grabbed both pokeballs just as Topaz shrieked at him in warned. He made a mad dive for safety as the PCs were blown to smithereens by a hyper beam that had come out of nowhere. He looked frantically around for the creature that had caused it, but couldn't see anything. "C'mon, Topaz, we gotta get out of here!" He had to look for Dover and Sorrel to regroup before he could do anything else. Topaz nodded in agreement and they soared back toward the center of the park.
They hadn't gotten too far before the roar of another creature caught his attention. He was about to signal for Topaz to fly over the beast when he spotted Sorrel and Dover running toward it. Topaz spotted them too and halted, hovering uncertainly in midair. "Sorrel!" Cael yelled, catching the meganium's attention. He directed Topaz lower, but kept a wary eye on the odd garchomp mutant. "What are you doing? Go back!"
"Meg-Megain!" Sorrel argued, pushing onward. Dover pointed ahead and Cael noticed a blissey running straight towards the creature. Topaz landed, and Cael recalled her. He didn't want to wear her out in battle as he needed her later for transportation.
"Okay..." Cael braced himself. "Zero!" He tossed the glaceon's pokeball back into the fray. It looked like a garchomp mixed with a sandslash, so maybe it would be weak to ice. "Ice beam! Dover, Ice beam! Sorrel, with me!" Zero's ice beam landed on the mutant first, with Dover's shortly behind it. He raced straight past the Blissey, who didn't even seem aware of the danger. Sorrel seemed very distressed, which was odd for him. "Okay, come on!" Sorrel and Cael ran to the Blissey - who wasn't getting far on her stubby legs. Cael wondered momentarily how she had ever outrun them -
Cael stopped dead in his tracks as an eerie voice filled his mind. 'I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. We will not rest until we receive justice for the abuse we endured. If you bring the leader of this island to the hole through which we surfaced, the rest of you shall be spared. We only wish reconciliation for our suffering. If the leader is not brought to us, more pain will ensue. You have until sunrise.'
Cael snapped back to his senses to see the monster roaring in anger and flailing scyther-esque forelimbs at Zero and Dover. He had no time to dwell on the message. Sorrel had caught up with the Blissey and was trying to reason desperately with her. "Mega! Mega!" He could hear a tiny crying sound coming from the blissey and realized she was holding a tiny igglybuff. He knew Sorrel had a soft spot for youngsters and realized that was the reason he was so worked up. He turned his attention back to the battlefield. "Keep a safe distance away, and try to aim for the legs!" He'd never seen a creature that looked more unbalanced - he hoped to topple it.
Carmen “Caramel” Frias
Party: Arcanine (Sear), Minun (Bluejay), Noivern (Babel)
Location: Bumper Boulder > Electrical Building (Mew’s Flight)
Carmen composed herself and observed the ride from a distance. It actually looked as though the entrance had caved in so there was a higher possibility of finding people trapped in there. A glance at Haunter’s Fun House also told her the Tyrani-Zard was still present, standing guard it seemed. She puzzled for a moment and ran around the side of the building, Sear and Bluejay alongside her and Babel back in his Pokeball. Sure enough, the Bumper Boulder maintenance building was behind the ride and still looked ok. Carmen jogged over and opened the door.
This building was nearly identical to the other so she was able to spot the hatch leading to the tunnels quite easily. That and the first aid kit on the wall. Quickly rifling through it, she found a potion for the Pidgey and she began applying it, leaving Sear to watch the bird Pokemon as it healed. She then started looking for a door leading to inside the ride. One lead to an equipment room and the other door lead to the back end of the ride, the outside of the door reading STAFF ONLY. There was minor rubble near the entrance to the ride blocking the main way out and the door to the maintenance building was in a dark corner, most likely unnoticed. A group of people sat along the outside of the ride, feet dangling over the floor the bumper cars slide around on.
“Hey! There’s a way out over here!” Carmen called out. The guests jolted out of their dejected stupor and looked for Carmen in the shadows in the back. A man stood up, looked her direction, and perked up; grabbing his wife’s hand they walked over followed slowly by the rest. With his help, the hatch was opened and people filed down. Fortunately, there was lighting on this side of the tunnel and it was intact going both directions.
“Don’t push, there’s plenty of room,” Carmen assured while directing them down. Finally, a nervous security guard passed her and mumbled something about why he hadn’t thought of the malignance tunnels. She returned Sear and let Bluejay hop on her shoulder while she crawled down the hatch, closing it behind her. As she hit the floor, she caught movement on her right side, the opposite direction the crowd was going. The security guard was hurrying suspiciously down the hall away from the exit.
“Hmm, Bluejay, follow him carefully. I’ll be back en un momento.” The Minun gave a salute and trotted down the passageway. Carmen turned the other way and walked back to the maintenance building of Mew’s Flight. Suddnely, the voice filled her head. I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. We will not rest until we receive justice for the abuse we endured. If you bring the leader of this island to the hole through which we surfaced, the rest of you shall be spared. We only wish reconciliation for our suffering. If the leader is not brought to us, more pain will ensue. You have until sunrise. She froze in place. Things had taken a dramatic turn and all she could think was how lucky she was to not be at the hotel. Back by Mew's Flight, Brady was still leading people to the park entrance, but Silver hung around to help direct other survivors.
“Hey, got the people out of the bumper car ride,” Carmen reported, already forgetting the message in her mind. “There’s just one thing. One of the security guys was down there and he went down the other way. I’m having my Minun track him because something just doesn’t feel right. Care to go with me when we’re done here?”
Mac was sitting in Mace's arms, after being thrown by the strange mutant, Mac had hurt his leg, "It's probably broken... Let's hope not. Mace..." Mac yelled out in pain from trying to stand up, before covering his mouth, "Probably don't want to make too much noise... Mace we need to get back to the hotel. Maybe they have a PC... We could get Krono, Sleuth, and maybe.... No. It would be too risky. Krono and Sleuth would be good."
Mace started walking again with Serene right by their side. Mac tried staying awake but the pain was just too much for him.
"Mace. Go over to that building. It looks like it hasn't been touched by the mutants yet." Mace walked over and set his trainer down inside, out of site from the mutants and Mace sat down behind some of the bushes planted to make the park look more "green." Serene perched herself over her trainer to make sure he was okay. Mac tried staying awake but couldn't stay awake long enough before saying "We need.... To get... Hotel." Then Mac fell asleep.
Rose, the Pidgey
Rose was happily flying around when she heard a bunch of screams and looked down and saw the ground had cracked open. She saw one of the buildings get obliterated when a huge Pokemon came out of the ground, right after another big quake. Rose quickly started panicking and went to find her trainer, Mac. As she flew around she noticed... Things had started crawling out, and flying out of the hole the giant Pokemon came out of. Rose started flying frantically. Being chased by all kinds of different monsters, she was small enough and agile enough to quickly lose any tailing predators. Rose saw several trainers fighting different mutants away and many other people were running towards the hotel. Rose looked down and saw her trainer being thrown into a small building. She squawked, being worried for her trainers safety, she quickly saw Mace and went down to fly towards him, but she wasn't paying attention and was
Hit by one the mutants, her being so young, and practically a baby, she was knocked out and started falling towards the ground, Rose looked down and saw a flash of orange before she went unconscious...
"Oh dear..." Rose heard an unfamiliar girl's voice. “Que lastima, probably belongs to a trainer. Good girl Sear. Keep this one safe, ok? Now Babel, let’s get a quick aerial view,” Rose heard the girl say. She heard another Pokemon come out, and the two left. Rose was very weak and could feel the warmth of the Pokemon that she only guessed saved her. She barley opened her eyes and saw it was an Arcanine, she had only seen one before, At her home, where all the Pokemon come and go when trainers leave or pick them up there. Rose got the energy to poke her head up, and let out a few chirps, hopefully letting someone know she was awake.
Betsy Bloom
Location: Deep Forest, close to the edge of the plains
Pokemon: Sphynx [meowth], Ijori [igglybuff], Kenya [spearow]
Affected: Anyone who wants
Betsy peddled on gloomily, her legs aching, her lungs burning, her whole body shivering. From exhaustion? Fear? Who knew. She didn't want to think about it long enough to find out. Without any of her electronic gear, she didn't even know what time it was, but she was sure hours had passed. She had had to double back a few times, circling a bit, finding ways around. It wasn't like there was any clear paths, and the bike, though sturdy, wasn't meant for some obstacles.
She looked up at the sky briefly, trying to judge the position of the sun behind that pink hazy barrier. Was it noon, past noon? She didn’t know, and the eerie glow did nothing for her nerves.
Sphynx stayed on her lap, no longer complaining about the bumpy motion of her knees rotating up and down. The meowth had even proved useful a few times, she wasn't strong but when they ran into a smaller mutant, some kind of Jolteon surskit bug thing, Sphynx had faked it out, flinching it and giving her time to peddle away. It gave Betsy the idea to do the same thing on a few other of the mutants they came across, luckily all small.
"Meeeoooowth..." Sphynx whined as Betsy peeked to the top of a hill, ready to cost down. Excitement began to pound in her chest as she looked at the bottom of the hill, the trees finally seemed to clear out here, breaking into more open fields. The plains. And there, a small brown pokemon lay at the edge. Kenya? Had she finally found her? She leaned forward, her goal almost in sight…
Suddenly, a voice rang in through her mind. I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. We will not rest until we receive justice for the abuse we endured. If you bring the leader of this island to the hole through which we surfaced, the rest of you shall be spared. We only wish reconciliation for our suffering. If the leader is not brought to us, more pain will ensue. You have until sunrise.
Betsy was surprised, the sudden ness of it startled her and she lost control of the bike as she raced down hill. Without time to think, she crashed, her and Sphynx hurled forward, the front wheel of the bike bending , the frame almost cracking. Betsy landed on her back before continuing to roll down to the bottom of the hill.
At the bottom of the hill Betsy sat up, dusting herself off. She wasn’t too hurt by the tumble (or at least, she couldn’t feel it yet) but Sphynx came in hissing up a storm. It didn’t matter now, Kenya mattered. Betsy raced to the side of the pokemon.
It looked bad… she barely moved. Betsy had seen hurt pokemon, even fainted, but this was worse. She was certain she had been poisoned, and her fall from the sky had been so high, so long, so hard. Did she even risk touching her? Was she even alive? Betsy couldn’t help it now, tears streamed down her face for the little bird Pokémon. Her breath hiccoughed in her throat, her hands trembled as she reached for the bag.
“Potions, got to get out the potions…”
She fumbled the zippers of her bag , finally reaching in…. and her heart stopped. The crash, the tumble down the hill… broken. What few antidotes she had, what few potions, all smashed, leaked and useless on the ground. She tried to wring out the liquids, drip them on the bird, but nothing happened.
“No, no, no no….” Betsy sobbed even more, what could she do?
She looked around, nothing in the immediate surrounding looked useful. Sticks. Rocks. Grass. She flipped her bag upside down, dropping free the last few possessions in her bag. A ribbon fell out; the shattered remains of her bottles;a few empty pokeballs some whole, some broken; the poffin remains of lunch she had saved for Kenya. Her sobbing reached a crescendo, her breath catching.
“Breath, gotta breath…”
What did she have? What could she do now? Kenya’s breath was even slower now, was it going to stop? Poffins. Pokeballs. She grabbed for Kenya’s pokeball and began slamming it on the ground over and over again.
“I’m sorry Kenya, I’m sorry…” She cried.
Desperate, she grabbed for a rock, smashing it over the pokeball. Kenya, who couldn’t even move her head eyes seemed to widen in pain. She cawed, weak, feeble, possibly the last of her breath…She looked over at the bird. Don’t let me go, her eyes seemed to plead.
“Shh…. Kenya… shh…” Betsy tried to sooth her as she cried.
A crack, the pokeball finally broke, shattering into pieces. She reached for her empty pokeballs.
“One… just need one…”
There, a heal ball. She picked it up eager, throwing it at Kenya but there was no flash of light, it sunk to the groud, the crack in it grew as it hit.
“One… just one…” Betsy repeated over and over, like a mantra.
Another heal ball. She examined it. It looked good still, with a prayer she through it again. The red light engulfed Kenya, nothing to fight, the ball shook once, twice, thrice, then remained still. She was caught again. Betsy fell back into the grass, giving herself over to the uncontrollable sobs. Hopefully it was enough, for now. Enough to keep Kenya alive.
Suddenly Betsy could feel it all, the bruises she had sustained, the scrapes and scratches. The lack of her experience and skills. The terror of the monsters. Ijori, her baby, missing still. And the message, the message that had played in her mind. What did it mean? What happened to these, things? What could any of them do? But surely it didn’t matter, how many people were even left on the island? They were already evacuated from the hotel. There’s no way they’d quarantine completely, trapping them in here.
Silver waited to direct anymore survivors, who came in a slow irregular trickle. A lot of them had minor injuries like the teen boy had had. The monsters seemed to be keeping more and more to themselves though, and Silver had to wonder what was going on.
Footfalls suddenly started coming in the opposite direction, Quartz cried out to him, and then Carmen emerged from the tunnel, “Hey, got the people out of the bumper car ride. . . There’s just one thing. One of the security guys was down there and he went down the other way. I’m having my Minun track him because something just doesn’t feel right. Care to go with me when we’re done here?”
Silver blinked, “Wow. . . that's pretty damn suspicious. Yeah, we should probably check that out. Do you suppose the employees have a secure bunker somewhere? . . .Glad you were able to. . .”
A soft humming voice filled his head, “I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. There was suddenly an eerie calm in the park, but Silver felt nauseous, “What the heck was that?”
Brady Bishop
Tunnels under the park
Affected: Skill (because I'm following Blujay)
After traversing the dark and cramped tunnels, Brady found himself at a ladder. Had he made it to the entrance of the park? Cautiously, he headed up the ladder and lifted the hatch. They were in another electrical building. Nervously, he opened the door. By some miracle, he had been right in his directions, and he had lead the group exactly to where they needed to be: the front gates. They could see the hotel from here, but it was not as great of a sight as Brady was hoping. By now, most people had made their way back to the hotel, and by consequence, so had many of the monsters. The park was nearly empty, however. It looked as if the survivors in the hotel were attempting to bar it up. The people who had followed him starting running towards the hotel in hopes of not being locked out before Brady could get a word in otherwise. He doubted they would make it in time. Brady decided to retreat back into the tunnels. Maybe Carmen and that other guy were still in the park. They seemed much more intelligent than the NPC’s Brady had just helped. Perhaps they would have a plan for what to do now.
As he was descending down the ladder, he heard a voice. Or was he thinking it? It wasn’t his normal thinking voice…
I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. We will not rest until we receive justice for the abuse we endured. If you bring the leader of this island to the hole through which we surfaced, the rest of you shall be spared. We only wish reconciliation for our suffering. If the leader is not brought to us, more pain will ensue. You have until sunrise.
Brady stopped on the ladder for a moment to process what he just heard, or thought, or he wasn’t sure. Is this for real? he thought. No way my luck is this bad.
He was about to continue down the ladder to make his way back to where he had left Carmen, when he noticed something, well, off. His Heliolisk was behind him and had not started using flash yet, so the tunnels were still dark, but he heard footsteps. He saw the faint light of a flashlight, and watched as a construction worker hurried past underneath him. Where was he headed? He was going the wrong way if he was looking for an exit. Following behind him, he noticed a Minun. It looked up at him and held one of its paws to its mouth, which Brady interpreted as a sign to be quiet. Was that Carmen’s Minun?
Brady’s curious nature got the better of him. He returned his Heliolisk and quietly made his way down the ladder, then continued down the path the construction worker was on. It was near pitch black except for the faint light of the flashlight the man was carrying. Brady placed a hand on the wires lining the passageway and carefully made his way through the dark.
“Wow. . . that's pretty damn suspicious. Yeah, we should probably check that out. Do you suppose the employees have a secure bunker somewhere?” Silver looked taken aback at the news. He seemed a little uneasy, mostly likely from the telepathic Pokémon voice if Carmen had to guess.
“I’m not sure, but we should hurry. I don’t want Bluejay getting into some trouble.” A loud chirp startled Carmen as she turned toward the tunnel. She had almost forgotten about the lost Pidgey that was now energetically flying around the room.
“Don’t worry, don’t worry, you’re coming too. We’ll take care of you little one,” Carmen soothed. This seemed to be enough for it as it happily landed upon her shoulder. She gave it a friendly scratch under its chin. The team climbed back into the tunnels. After passing the other building, things got dark again so Silver’s Carbink lit the way.
“So uh, are you a trainer? Just a little small talk while we walk down a mysterious tunnel following a suspicious guard during a mini apocalypse. Where are ya from?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bluejay the Minun
Location: Tunnels

Bluejay pattered down the hallway, careful to stay out of sight. The guard was hurried, but not so fast he couldn’t keep pace. Besides, he had plenty of experience sneaking around at underground battles toying with opponents and stealing what he pleased. His owner had sent him on a mission that he was determined to do his best in.

Along the way, he passed a boy. The boy smelled familiar, and his Heliolisk did too, when he recognized them from the Drifblim ride. Looking up at him, Bluejay put his paw to his mouth, hoping he would get the message. In an instant, the boy returned his Pokemon and climbed down the ladder to follow him. He had better not slow me down, Bluejay thought. But within moments, they were caught up to the man. He smelled nervous and Bluejay did not trust him, probably why his trainer wanted him tracked. Ten minutes or so passed before anything notable happened. At a branching path, the man hesitated and glanced around. The two hunters backed away a bit to avoid detection, and the man, seeing or hearing nothing, looked at the wall. He pulled on a certain pipe and pushed in a particular bolt. A click echoed in the passageway and then slowly, the wall turned inward to reveal a hidden corridor.

Bluejay’s ears perked up in surprise. He keep note of while pipe and bolt was pulled and pushed as the man went through and the wall closed behind him. Now in total darkness, he charged up a Thunder Wave. It allowed for enough light to see the boy, Brady is what the owner called him.

“Minun mi mi,” he instructed. He plopped himself down and nodded towards the way they came. They needed to wait for trainer Carmen, even though he had a burning desire to keep going. He knew he would get in trouble because things were serious right now and Carmen would be upset. He didn’t want to upset his owner so he climbed the wires around the walls to occupy himself while they waited.

“I’m not sure, but we should hurry. I don’t want Bluejay getting into some trouble,” replied Carmen in regards to the possibility of a staff bunker. Their attention was caught by chirping from outside, the Pidgey was apparently feeling better and started to fly around the room, so Carmen told it, “Don’t worry, don’t worry, you’re coming too. We’ll take care of you little one.”

It landed on her shoulder and she scratched it's chin.

“You're pretty good with little pokemon,” observed Silver. He pulled a pokeballs off his belt, and returned Razor. He left Quartz out to light their way as they entered the tunnels. Silver brought what was left of the first aid kit with him, just in case.

“So uh, are you a trainer? Just a little small talk while we walk down a mysterious tunnel following a suspicious guard during a mini apocalypse. Where are ya from?” asked Carmen as she lead the way along the dim tunnel.

“I'm a coordinator actually,” replied Silver, noting the nervous edge in his own voice, “I'm from Rustboro, in Hoenn. . . My mom made accessories and toys for pokemon. Coordinators were always coming into her shop, and their pokemon were so skilled. I just knew I wanted to do that.”

The tunnel all looked the same, but mostly it was straight shot, so Silver figured they weren't likely to get too lost. He continued, “So, what about you? Where are you from? What do you do?”

Small noises echoed down the tunnel. They were getting close to something. It looked like there were figures up ahead. Silver wondered if Quartz had enough control to dim his light, but that probably wouldn't be enough to keep them from being spotted anyways.

Thankfully, there came a reassuring sound, when Carmen's pokemon spotted her, “Minun-minun!” Were the other figures Brady and his pokemon then?

Betsy Bloom
Location: Deep Forest, close to the edge of the plains
Pokemon: Sphynx [meowth], Ijori [igglybuff], Kenya [spearow],
Affected: Anyone who wants

After the tears started to slow down, Betsy sat up. Things were almost...peaceful here. If she didn't look at the sky, you could even imagine this was a different island. One that wasn't full of monsters. That shouldn't be hard to imagine...islands that were really fun parks shouldn't be filled with monsters anyway.

Sphynx finally slinked over to her, sitting right in her lap. Betsy thought, for a moment, that the meowth was moved to tears by almost loosing Kenya. Sphynx began to paw at her hand though, pushing it towards her bow. Her ribbon was loose, and she needed adjusted back to perfection. Stupid contest pokemon.

"Kenya needs medical attention, fast." Betsy said, "Don't you care about anything? Ijori is still missing, we could actually die. I really need you to be tough Sphynx. You're the only thing between us and disaster."

Sphynx didn't say anything, didn't even flinch or acknowledge her. Fine. Whatever. They had to get back now, only she was certain the bike was unrideable. She couldn't just walk back, she need to get back fast...

Sphynx suddenly jumped, startling her. Betsy looked around, frightful that another hybrid was near. Instead, she saw a slowly approaching Girafarig, standing in the plains in what looked to be a field of poesy's. It was looking at her.

"Um, hello?" Betsy asked, getting up slowly, extending a hand.

She wasn't super familiar with Giragarig, she'd seen them only in books as they weren't native to her home in Unova. They were normal type though, weren't they? If only she had any of her electronic gear, she might have been able to look up the information. She went to pat it, but the Girafarig shyed away. She noticed it's pattern, this one must be a girl. For a friendly wild Girafarig, it was still shy, surprising, as it was almost as big as herself, and certainly bigger than Sphynx. She could probably ride the pokemon...wait. Should she try and catch it? Adding a pokemon to a team was a big commitment. Thena gain, she never intended to keep Kenya on the team, and she needed more pokemon if she was gonna survive this thing.

"Sphynx, fake out on the Girafarig, now!" Betsy called.

The Girafarig turned to run away, but Sphynx, miraculously, listened to her and faked it out. Betsy bent to the ground, searching for a pokeball and grabbed the first whole one it came around. A premier ball.

"Sphynx, use pay day, while it's stunned."

Sphynx hesitated, but finally did as she was instructed. The Girafarig got the full force of the attack, looking really panicked now. Betsy didn't dare hurt it any more though, she was out of heal balls and
potions and she needed it to be strong. She threw the pokeball, hoping against hope. It struggled, and Betsy ran to pick up the pokeball and try and hold it together (like that would even do anything) but she was finally caught. Betsy returned Sphynx, and let her new pokemon out.

The Girafarig blinked, hesitated, but finally let Betsy approach her.

"Sorry girl, here...uh..."Betsy struggled for a name, looking around. Her eyes setteled on the flowers they were standing in. "Poesy."

Party: Arthur (Gallade) Lucky (Togekiss) Nala (Pyroar) Gummy (Goodra)

As quickly as it started, the chaos came to a stop. There weren't rampaging mutants running around, people weren't screaming like crazy people, and everything was calm. The only sound that Leo became aware of was the sound of a soft humming voice that definitely did not sound like his own thoughts filling his head.

“I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. We will not rest until we receive justice for the abuse we endured. If you bring the leader of this island to the hole through which we surfaced, the rest of you shall be spared. We only wish reconciliation for our suffering. If the leader is not brought to us, more pain will ensue. You have until sunrise.”

Leo looked around in surprise. No one else was speaking, but judging by the surprised look on everyone else's face, the other guests must have heard it too. "Well... that was odd..." He mumbled to himself. He wasn't sure what to do. People weren't supposed to have mysterious voices inside their own head that didn't belong to them. Especially when they essentially tell them to kidnap a person... But then, the mutant Pokemon put a lot of people in danger. What's the right thing to do in this situation?

He put that thought out of his mind when took notice of a guy who had a Luxray next to him, being guarded by an Aggron lying in some bushes. Leo wondered if he had gotten injured when all the mutant Pokemon went nuts. It wouldn't be a surprise if that were the case. With Lucky the Togekiss hovering behind him, he walked up to the guy to see if he needed help. He avoided getting too close, as the guy had a Luxray nearby. If they were anything like his Pyroar, then they could get territorial about their trainers. The Aggron probably wouldn't like some stranger getting too close either. "Excuse me! Do you need any help?" Leo called out from where he stood.

Location: The park, close to bumper boulder ride
Pokemon: Sphynx [meowth], Ijori [igglybuff], Kenya [spearow], Poesy [Girafarig]. Spare? [???]
Affected: Monster Guy, theGOAT

It had taken a bit of time, but Betsy had coaxed the Girafarig into a run, and had ridden the pokemon back through the forest, towards the park. She should be coming up to it any moment. She could tell that this Girafarig was shy, sheltered even, which seemed odd. Even though it was frightened of her still, it seemed equally drawn, like she wanted to help her, like she wanted to be caught. Betsy couldn't quite make it out. She'd have to ask about Girafarig from someone, she was starting to wonder if the pokemon was perhaps part psychic type. Was that even a real thing? A psychic normal type? She wasn't sure, but this Girafarig seemed to have a sort of six sense. She didn't have to give her much direction, and she was certain the pokemon had even used agility to hasten it's speed.

The more immediate matter at hand was actually riding her. Betsy had NEVER in the history of ever ridden a pokemon before, and certainly not through a mutant infested forest without a saddle. Sphynx had begrudgingly gone back to her pokeball, the meowth choosing the lesser of two evils between riding and fighting or being crammed in her ball. Poesy was patient with her, and she tried to be patient back, even though she felt hopeless and out of control. She cursed a few times, had fallen thrice, and had was on the verge of snapping at any moment. She was disappointed in herself, but this was just too much to soon. She wasn't a jungle fairing, pokemon riding, monster fighting trainer yet.

The giragarig jumped and dodged over a particularly large obstacle, one she would have to bike around before, and Betsy half slipped down her right side. Poesy slowed down some, and Betsy was about to thank her when she realized she was slowing down because she had arrived back at the park. Instead of just hoisting herself back on, Betsy slipped off rather ungracefully. She was fairly close to where she had left to go rescue Kenya, but hard to tell exactly where she was as the destruction changed everything. Poesy turned away, her head low. She seemed in pain, and Betsy didn't have to guess why.

She didn't expect it, the bodies everywhere. She had known, in the chaos that some had fallen, but it hadn't taken much time to register. Now the park was almost barren, she saw no immediate sign of the living. She didn't want to believe it, and though their was many more saved then killed, it didn't matter. It was dreadful. She considered returning Poesy, saving her from this view, but then, she needed something out to protect her.

She wanted to be brave somehow, to commemorate, to recognize the fallen. She couldn't grieve for any of these people, and yet someone out there would be. Surely, someone would come soon to deal with the tragedy... she was certain everyone else had been evacuated now...almost. The only thing Betsy could think to do as she walked, nearing a body, was to close their open eyes. Isn't that what you did? She leaned down, she didn't even know their name.

"I'm sorry..." She said gently, "May you go in peace."

It sounded so corny coming out of her mouth. She wanted to cry, but didn't seem to have much energy left for that. She meant it though, but couldn't stare much longer. She didn't want to think about how old the guy was, how much of their life they had lost unfairly. Next to them, a weavile lay fallen as well. She closed it's eyes also. Unable to look anymore, she finally turned her head down, noticing the man's belt. Their was still a pokeball on it, intact. Had they died before they could call their comrade? And what would happen to this poor pokemon, would anyone find it? She though of Ijori, wherever he was, stuck in his ball waiting to be rescued. Was it stealing? Was it rescuing? She gently picked up the ball from his belt, watching it expand in his hands. It was a normal pokeball, with the words "Spare" etched on it.

She hesitated, then finally added the ball to her own belt. She would do her best to return it to whatever family it once had. But she couldn't bare to leave it alone, not in this carnage. Who knew if it would ever be rescued.

She got up again, Poesy kept walking beside her, keeping a level head over her shoulder. Poesy heard the noise first, flinching and trying to dash away. Betsy quickly returned her, this pokemon certainly seemed much to skiddish to fight and let Sphynx out again. She looked wildly, bracing for another attack, but rather, in the distance, she saw the figure of someone standing. A young man? She began running forward. For some reason, the sight of people made her feel less comforted. Why weren't they evacuated? They could get off this island still, right?

"Hello?" She called out, as she neared, she could see it was a young man, accompanied by a Togekiss.

As Zack finished eating his salad, completely ignoring the chaos outside. What people probably needed out there now, was a healer. He imagined the monster had done quite the damage out there, leaving people and Pokemon in distress. Maybe this was also a perfect timing for him to teach Happy how to use Softboiled properly. He reached for her pokeball to release her in order to brief her in on the plan he was starting to develop. "Eh..?" he said. he reached a bit further. he counted 1, 2... 3? Luxury Balls. He franatically dragged his bag up and emptied its content. Yep, only 3 Luxury Balls there. Azoths, Jace and Cosmo! How did he know that? Good question! it was like he thought. Happys Luxury Ball wasn't there! Had he dropped it at some point? He hadn't been pushed over or anything, except that one time.... but that was hours ago!! Starting to freak out, he called back Azoth, and sent out Cosmo. What he needed now, was smeone bl to sniff out Happy.

Getting back to the entrance, which had been demolished by something, he began his search, going in the exact same pattern as he had done when first entering the park. If he recaled correctly, they had visited the spinda Tea Cups first. Going over there, he saw that the attraction had also been demolished, and a weird serpent-like monster was flailing in the rubble. It looked like a weird mix between an Arbok, Milotic and Seviper, with horrifying teeth, a ghastly purple-ish color, and it smelld horrible! Odd thing indeed. Cosmo prepared for a fight, but just before the monster started moving towards them, it stoppped in its tracks, and something or someone started speaking in Zacks mind. 'I am speaking on behalf of all the Pokémon that appeared today from beneath the island. We are angry. We will not rest until we receive justice for the abuse we endured. If you bring the leader of this island to the hole through which we surfaced, the rest of you shall be spared. We only wish reconciliation for our suffering. If the leader is not brought to us, more pain will ensue. You have until sunrise.'

After the voice went quiet, the monsters seemed to retreat, as on queue. Zack looked around, and saw that other guests seemed just as confused as he was. Apparently, they had heard the voice too. But enough of that! He had to find Happy! Who knew, maybe she was scared, sad, or even defeated in some pit somewhere? He grew ill just by thinking about it. he felt horrible for not noticing her abscence sooner. He figured it would take too long survying the area by foot. "Cosmo, use Psychic, and get us into the air." he said, and the Umbreon glowed in a similar fashion to what Azoth had done before. the two of them went into the air, high enough to get a good view of the park. it was difficult, despite her big, pink size, and he started suspecting the worst. Cosmo then growled at something, and moved the duo in another direction towards the ground. Looking over there, Zack could see Happy, surrounded by a Swampert, Meganium and Golduck, who tried to communicate with her somehow. She looked just as oblivious as ever, and he could feel tears building up by how incredibly relieved he was to see that goofy face in the distance.

Happy, Ijori, Sorrel and Dover's fun-Time!
Things was starting to get rather noisy and stressing. the Meganium and golduck had caught up with her, and tried their best to reason with her, telling her odd tales about monsters and such. There had also appeared a Swampert of out seemingly nowhere. at least this one knew where Zack was, or at least so it claimed. The igglybuff had stopped crying for now, and hapy figured she wuld have to track down his trainer. She remembered how she looked like, so it wouldn't be an issue. Not a huge on, anyway.. She sighed. If only Zack had taught her Psychic as well, as he did with more or less all his Pokemon after obtaining the TM29, then they could have just levitated around until they found them. But nooo, Happy didn't get to learn the move. It was fine, she didn't wanna larn it anyway! As usual, happpy ignored the Pokemon around her, and went ahead to walk off in another direction, but she stopped when she heard a familiar voice calling out to her.

“You’re pretty good with little Pokémon,” Silver stated before they entered the tunnels. Carmen glanced at the Pidgey and chuckled.

“Guess it’s just a natural talent,” she responded. They started walking and Silver started to tell her a bit about himself.

“I'm a coordinator actually,” replied Silver, “I'm from Rustboro, in Hoenn. . . My mom made accessories and toys for Pokémon. Coordinators were always coming into her shop, and their Pokémon were so skilled. I just knew I wanted to do that.”

“Wow, that’s pretty cool. I just don’t have the creativity for it, but it’s pretty incredible what some people can do. I bet you’re awesome at it,” she complimented. Hopefully the conversation was helping distract him. She had noticed how nervous the situation was making him and helping him feel better was helping herself as well.

“So, what about you? Where are you from? What do you do?” He asked after a few moments.

“Oh, uh,” Carmen started. I’m so bad at talking about myself, “I’m from Johto, Azalea Town which is kind of in the middle. I used to help my mom with the bakery she runs, but then I became a full time trainer. I go to various tournaments,” she said vaguely, hoping he wouldn’t delve deeper into the point. “I’ve traveled quite a bit though to attend some which is exciting.” Talking was helping to calm her nerves. Having a goal helped as well because it gave her something to think about other than the catastrophe above ground. They continued walking a short ways when sounds bounced through the tunnel. Straight ahead, Carmen could barely make out a humanoid figure and something small crawling on the floor.

“Minun-minun!” Bluejay called out to her. He ran and jumped into her arms nuzzling her shoulder. The Pidgey flared her wings out in shock and squawked, but she only seemed to be startled. Bluejay offered a friendly greeting and dashed to the wall.

“Glad to see you Bluejay, and Brady too! Didn’t expect to see you here.” Bluejay was frantically motioning at the wall and whining. “What is it buddy? Where’d the guard go?”

“Minun mi mi” said Bluejay to Brady.

“What are you saying, I don’t speak minun…” responded Brady.

If ever a Minun looked annoyed, it was now. The Minun sat down on the ground and nodded back towards the way they came, as if to let him know they needed to wait for someone.

“Um, okay, yeah,” waiting for Carmen would be a good idea. Who knew where this secret tunnel lead and what dangers were waiting inside? Some backup couldn’t hurt.

Brady couldn’t tell how long they had been waiting there. He had sat down with his back against the wall, about 2o feet down the tunnel from the secret door. It was nearly pitch black, and he was beginning to get impatient. Maybe Carmen had been eaten by those monsters already, and he was just wasting time waiting. Or maybe this Minun had no idea what it was doing. Was he even sure it was Carmen’s? Hell, it could be anyones. The Minun had decided to inspect some wires to pass the time, and his Joltik decided to spin a web. The web had a faint yellow glow, and Spitz was very proud of it.

He heard them before he saw them, having a conversation as they walked through the tunnnels. He tensed up and put his hand on his Heliolisk’s pokeball, when the Minun gleefully called out, and raced down the passageway to whoever it was that was talking. As they got closer, he could see it was Carmen and that other guy who was with her earlier.

Brady cringed when the pidgey squawked at the overly excited Minun.

“Glad to see you Bluejay, and Brady too! Didn’t expect to see you here.” Bluejay was frantically motioning at the wall and whining. “What is it buddy? Where’d the guard go?”

“Oi,” Brady said in a hushed voice. “We gotta be quiet. There is some weird ish going on here. The guard went behind this wall,” he whispered as he pointed to the secret entrance. “It looked like he pulled on something and pushed another something, but I couldn’t really see what.”

Brady began pulling and pushing on a few different objects that seemed suspect, when suddenly there was a click, and the wall was able to be pushed inwards. He looked over at his companions nervously.

“Well, here we go,” he whispered, as he pushed on the door...

Mac was woken up by someone yelling to him, "Excuse me! Do you need any help?"
Mac opened his eyes just barely to see someone with a Togekiss. A surge of pain shot up Mac's leg and body again and he screamed. Mace and Serene didn't know what happened and thought it was because of the other guy. Mace came charging out of the bushes, and so Luxray jumped out from where Mac lay. They were only trying to protect him, but Mac knew he was only trying to help out. Mac called to his Pokemon, "No! Stop, it's okay guys. Let him through." Mac used all the strength he could get from his arms to
Push him self up. "I think I broke my leg, man. I don't know how long I've been here." Mac tried to stand up but couldn't do it. "Mace, come over here and give me lift, please." The giant Pokemon did as asked, acting ever so gently not
To hurt his trainer, but every movement sent more pain searing trough Mac's body. Mace let out a low grumble, whining every time Mac let out a grown. Serene ran up to smell of the other boy. Mac knew how protective she was, but he called her back. "Serene, go keep watch for anymore of those things okay?" She nodded, looked back at the other boy, then took off.

"Mace, help me sit up." Mace positioned his trainer so he was sitting up on the huge pokemon's leg. Mac stuck out his hand and said "Sorry about all that, I'm Mac. This big guy is Mace, and the Luxray that ran off was Serene. Sorry about earlier. We're all a little high-strung." Mac shook hands with the boy, who's name was Leo. "How come you didn't evacuate with the rest?"

After listening to the boy's answer, Mac looked past Leo, and he saw a familiar face. "Is that the girl from earlier that had the igglybuff?"

Carmen told silver about Johto and how she was a trainer in tournaments. She sounded a little uneasy as well, but given the circumstances that was understandable. She dashed off at the sound of Minun's cries, commenting, “Glad to see you Bluejay, and Brady too! Didn’t expect to see you here. . . What is it buddy? Where’d the guard go?”

“Oi,” hushed Brady, “We gotta be quiet. There is some weird ish going on here. The guard went behind this wall. It looked like he pulled on something and pushed another something, but I couldn’t really see what.”

He was fiddling with the wall, trying to duplicate what he'd only half seen. Silver wondered if there any way that could go horribly wrong, maybe they shouldn't be. . . there was a click and the wall inset a little bit. From here it could be pushed open.

“Well, here we go,” suggested Brady in a whisper as he pushed on the secret door. Not wanting the guard to see them, Silver turned to Quartz, whispering, “Douse the light.”

“Quar?” questioned Quartz. Silver winced, “Stop using Flash!”

He turned and peered through the doorway into a brightly lit white hallway, with several doors that looked like they belonged in a hospital. Silver looked back down the way they came, the cement wire lined tunnels were definitely different from the area they'd now discovered.

“Looks more like a hospital then a bunker,” Silver noted out loud.

“Oi, we gotta be quiet,” Brady shushed. Carmen winced at her mistake. “There is some weird ish going on here. The guard went behind this wall. It looked like he pulled on something and pushed another something, but I couldn’t really see what.” He started to play with the wall so Carmen returned Bluejay. The little Pidgey would be enough to have out if they were trying to sneak around. Soon enough, Brady produced a click sound in the wall.

“Well, here we go.” He pushed on the wall. It opened up into a white hallway. It was well lit, especially in comparison with the past dark hallways. The trio started walking down it carefully.

“Looks more like a hospital than a bunker,” Silver noticed quietly. Carmen nodded in agreement. Further down the hall was a pair of glass doors leading into an open room. A long desk was mounted in the center with a computer around the middle. It looked like a reception desk. A few trolleys with papers, glassware, and some stray science equipment. Three doors were on the three walls with card swipes beside each one and were labeled Lab, Lockers, and Offices. Carmen and the two boys stood for a moment taking things in.

“Ok, this is really weird now,” Carmen said breaking the silence. A quite hum started, probably the ventilation. She walked to one of the doors and pulled on it. It wouldn’t budge. It had no windows either which made snooping around difficult. But it looked like there was enough information in this room to get an idea of what was going on.

“What now chicos?”

How bizarre was this? Was this the entrance to some sort of control room for the park? Or a security station? Weird that it was underground… and hidden behind a secret door in the electrical tunnels.

“Okay, this is really weird now,” said Carmen. He nodded in agreement.

Brady jolted a bit when he heard a hum startup. He relaxed when he realized is was probably just the air conditioning. He tried to convince himself that the anxiety he was experiencing was unwarranted. Surely the place was abandoned. Well, except for that one worker. But why would anyone care if he was down there now? With all the **** hitting the fan outside, they would be the least of the parks worries.

Of course, he realized why this could be a really bad place for them to be. Those mutants weren’t just spawned from a hole in the ground. From what Brady had seen, they had been created, most likely right here in this facility. But everything was out in the open now, so what would it matter if they were down here?

Carmen tried to open one of the doors, with no budge. “What now, chicos?”

What now was right. Brady silently walked over to the receptionist’s desk. He leafed through some papers on the desk. Many of them were labeled with “Exhibit X,” which Brady figured must be the name of this monster-making scheme. How unoriginal of a name, he thought to himself. Unless the X was really more of a cross, Exhibit Cross, since they are crossing pokemon DNA together? That would be a kind of clever name, he figured.

He was getting side tracked.

“Miralos,” he said, humoring Carmen. He held up a few of the papers from the desk for the other two to see. “Take a look at these,” he added since he doubted the other guy knew what he said.

There was a soft electrical humming as they made their way down the hallway, and through double doors to an area that looked like a reception desk. Carmen checked one of the doors leading out of the room, but it was locked, “Ok, this is really weird now.”

The doors were labeled, but had no windows. Silver gave the 'Locker' room a try, figuring it to be the least secure, but it was locked as well.

“What now chicos?” asked Carmen.

“We could try busting one of the doors down,” suggested Silver, “between the three of us, we have to have enough pokemon power to do that. . . but that might be a little. . . rash.”

“Car. . .” muttered Quartz.

Brady who was digging around on the desk, held up some papers, “Miralos. . . Take a look at these!”

Silver scanned the front leaf, 'Exhibit X', was this their imagineering department? Why was it hidden way underground, and why would a guard choose to come here in the event of an Apocalypse? . . .unless the two were connected? This place practically screamed suspicious.

Silver made his way over and picked up few of the remaining papers, leafing through them. There was a lot of jargon, but a few words, like DNA, Subject, and Pokemon, made the subject matter really clear. The park was running some sort of secret science experiment underground. He threw the papers down, and checked the computer. Finding it password locked, he crouched down and searched the cabinets behind the reception desk. Most of the drawers had more of the papers or standard office supplies, though a couple were empty, and one had a lunchbox in it.

Still crouched down, he turned on his heels and peered back at the desk. There were three dark red objects attached to the underside. “Ahaha!” laughed Silver, reaching over and smacking one of the buttons. There was a click behind him, and turning as he stood up, he could see one of the doors was open slightly.
