Archeologist Niki Sagee and her assistant Tyler Brown have discovered an ancient abandon city deep in the wilderness. The ruined city seems to be much older than any found before. From what remains of the city they surmise that it was a fairly advanced culture. There are non-electrical machines like water clocks and elaborate works of art such as murals and sculptures. These works of art seem to show that the ancients were obsessed with and perhaps even worshipped cat form pokemon; Meowth, Skitty, Eevee and their evolutions.
While exploring Niki and Tyler came upon a large old building they believe used to be the palace. Outside the remains of the palace there were two very large sculptures guarding the doorway, a Persian and a Delcatty. Further exploration of the palace remains led to the discovery of secret chambers below the ground. Sealed off from the elements the items in these chambers remained fairly intact. These chambers where the home of the palace guards. One particular chamber had a strange dream-like feel when entered. It appeared to be filled with the possessions of a junior guard. The items in this room were in better condition than those in the other chambers. Most startling however was the discovery of six apricorn pokeballs in the chamber that still seemed to contain pokemon. Niki and Tyler carefully transported these pokeballs to their lab and released the pokemon into an observation chamber, a white room with a large window.
Niki and Tyler also have pokemon of their own. Niki owns a Lapras and a Baltoy. She obtained Lapras from a trade with a friend when she was younger and wanted to be a gym leader, she obtained Baltoy in some ruins shortly before her decision to become an archeologist. Tyler has twin Rattatas, Moon and Star, he can tell them apart because Moon has a crescent moon shaped scar on his head. He got them both as a gift from his father.
You are a cat form pokemon who has just woken up into a strange world. Previously you belonged to a junior palace guard who used you and your companions to defend the palace. You remember nothing between the time he last put you in your pokeball and when the scientists released you into the observation room. As far as pokemon go, you were considered an elite fighter. You also have the ability to communicate with humans using human speech (ignore the whole language barrier loophole). You also each have one held and one worn item. How will you react to this strange environment, not knowing what happened to your trainer? Why hasn’t time passed for you and your companions? What happened to the civilization you used to know? And what will be your role in this new strange world?

Name: Monty
Species: Meowth
Held/Worn Items: Stick; often he smacks other pokemon around with it rather than wasting his moves on them. Plain blue scarf; worn like a cape.
Moves: Fury Swipes, Bite, Growl, Iron Tail
Personality: Monty is obsessive. He won’t give up until his mission is complete, and he never runs from a fight. This goes for asking questions as well, he won’t stop asking until he gets a real answer. He doesn’t like to fail and he doesn’t like it when he doesn’t get a straight answer, he’s sensitive about these things and may cry or lash out. Monty cares about the other pokemon, but he’s not very alert to the status and feelings of others, so if he is left in charge he might push the others too far without realizing it until it’s too late.
History: Monty was captured in an apricorn ball by the junior guard at a relatively young age. This makes him a little more aggressive and indifferent, since he was exposed to violence at a younger age, but it also makes him more fluent in human language because he started learning it earlier. Monty was serious about his training and often wandered away from his guard to challenge other pokemon. Monty ‘won’ his stick in such a battle with a far’de’fetch. After defeating the duck pokemon he claimed its stick as a prize.
Other: Monty has a chunk missing out of his right ear; it was injured when he picked a fight with one of the senior guard’s pokemon.
