Pokedex: Contradictive and just plain evil.

OK i've noticed a few pokedex entries that are slightly wierd. I'll give acouple of examples:(none will e word for word but pretty much the same point.)

the sapphire entry for Glalie.
Glalie can instantly freeze its foe solid in ice. after immobilizing its foe in ice, this pokemon enjoys eating it in a leisurely fashion.
Apparently pokemon aren't evil but used by evil trainers. now correct me if i'm wrong but this sounds pretty evil to me.

Spoink's ruby entry states that if it stops bouncing, its heart will stop and spoink will die. so what happens if it is paralysed?

Sneasels FR entry states that sneasel scare pidgey away and eats the eggs left behind, but Emerald says that it waits until the pidgey has gone away.

What i want to know is do you know of any pokedex entries (any of the games.) that you think are stupid, contradictive or whatever? then tell the world!

Well, Glalie is just killing to eat like any other predator. Is that so evil?

The one for Spoink seems very contradictive, or does it bounce when it's paralysed?

Eh, I've always hated the Pokedex. Three words: Latios and Latias. The two Pokemon whose entries stab the Intelligent Pokemon theory right in its heart...well, Farfetch'd and Lapras too.

Some of them are interesting and fun to read, but most of them, just...meh.

I like the evil ones... but Metagross's seems as if it would be the worst, immobilizing the victim with it's legs and eating it alive.

Im not really sure...

The pokedex always brings up weird stuff like that. They maybe want the pokemon game to seem more realistic.

Then again, I don't know for sure.

It's not eating its victim for survival. It's eating for leisure apparently.

It's got a spring on its tail that makes it bounce so if it's paralyzed it'll keep bouncing and stay alive :p

Well, it's eating for survival. It's just enjoying its meal. "leisurely" means taking one's time and enjoying something.

Meh, I've always wondered about Slugma. If what the dex says is true, won't it have to move round in circles as it is battling? It will cool down otherwise.

It says in the Bannette's Pokédex entry Bannette dies if it opens its move. Bannette opens its mouth quite often in Collo/XD.
It also says Bannette originally was a posessed puppet. But then how does it evolve from Shuppet?
In one Pokédex entry of Slugma it says Slugma never sleeps, in another it says Slugma sometimes sleeps.

The Pokédex doesn't make sence. The only time it was correct, was when it said towns are build on Corsola.

The name says it all
I personally think spoink is like a shark, if it stops swimming it dies (is that right, I just remember hearing it somewere?)

The dex in Emerald said something about Kadabra being some demonic emo kid turned Pokemon.

@The Benmeister: With Slugma at that temperature, it would take quite a few minutes for it to harden. And as slow as it moves, it doesn't have much time to battle anyway.

But what stumps me is how would Slugma moving have anything to do with it not hardening. Real magma/lava would harden when exposed to oxygen regardless whether or not it is flowing. Unless around a constant source of heat.

The Pokédex´s entries are designed to give each Pokémon more flavor and characteristics that make them similar to animals in the real world. They´re not supposed to be taken into account in a game battle. Like in the animé, Pokémon don´t really wait for the opponent to perform the next attack if it´s their turn, or survive an attack as devastating as Guillotine, or can summon water out of nowhere for Surf. Pokémon battles and general gameplay aren´t supposed to reflect how Pokémon would really fight, and thus battles and Pokédex entries are not in the same level of reality. In short, they´re not to be taken seriously. Examples:

- A Shellder must bite a Slowpoke for it to evolve into Slowbro. In the game, Slowpoke evolves into Slowbro at a certain level.
- If a Pokémon were to touch Regice, it would freeze solid. In the game, physical attacks to Regice do not make the opponent go into the Freeze condition.
- Glalie can freeze its prey solid. In the game, Glalie is unable to do this.
- Metagross is formed by two Metang, and Metang is formed by two Beldum. In the game, one Beldum evolves into one Metang which evolves into one Metagross.

There are many more examples, but that should get the point across. The game shouldn´t be compared to Pokédex entries, because if you do that then many of them don´t make sense.

And regarding entries that contradict each other, the entire Pokémon world has evolved with each generation of games, just like how old Pokémon were given new attacks, abilities and evolutions. It shouldn´t be surprising that some of their characteristics have been changed over time.

Back I guess??
Fire Red Dex says that Cubone Wears the Skull of his dead mom, but when I check my Marowak isn´t dead in Daycare...

It´s a miracle! Those bones appears from nowhere!

Personally, I hate the one for Lugia in R/S. LUGIA's wings pack devastating power - a light fluttering of its wings can blow apart regular houses. A little, tiny, weeny bit overpowered maybe? But that's because they had to make the freakin' thing so powerful and mighty in the player's eyes. >> And if it packs that much punch, why its low Attack stat?

Another overpower case'd be Tyranitar's, where the Pokédex states that it can destroy a mountain with one hand, or something of the lines of those.

Pokédex also says that Feraligatr can run fast on all fours, but their Speed stat is low :/

There ARE others, but those are the ones from the top of my head. And yes, I did look Lugia's Pokédex entry up word to word.

That is only for a few spiecies such as the Hammerhead and Greatwhite. Slugma's has to be a really weird one I must admit. Also what happens if Spoinks either Sleep, Faint, or make love in the day care- will they die?

About Spoink, you forget about frost ;) Paralyzed, sleeping etc, can bounce because there`s a spring right below his body.
