PLATINUM WINS THE POKEMON CONTEST BATTLE! THE 2ND FACE-OFF!
aJMWzF6.png

Pokemon Contest Face-Off! Now opened!
The Pokemon Contest face-off is now in motion! As for the other themes that did well, we can do them after the Pokemon Contest Face-Off and the possible Valentine's Contest Face-Off. Valentine's Day is coming soon and I thought about doing a Valentine's Contest Round with pairings. I'm pretty sure long-time readers knows who one of the potential couples could be heheheh. Of course that all depends on how long this Pokemon Contest takes and if goes past Valentine's day.

The clothes makes the man and the clothes makes the girl! Here are the rules!

Face-Off Rules/Notes

1) A single ♥+ for your preferences at a time.
2) The ♥'s will stack next to each other until it reaches a total of two ♥'s. Once it reaches a total of two ♥'s, the participants pass the round and can move on to the next! Example below.
For example. You want to vote for Wallace who recently got a heart from the previous voter.
Wallace ♥

To do that. You add a heart. This is how you vote. The + symbol indicates which participant you voted.

Wallace ♥♥+

Once it reaches 2 ♥'s. That Participant is safe! He moves onto the next round!
Wallace ♥♥
3) The last two participants who don't have a full two ♥'s will be removed in each round until it comes down to only two participants remaining left.
4) As the round increases so do the total number of ♥'s needed for participants to win. For example next round would be ♥♥♥'s to win.
5) 4 hour cooldown to vote again.

RUBY AND SAPPHIRE WINS THE VALENTINES POKEMON CONTEST FACE-OFF!
Pokemon Adventures Valentines Pokemon Contest Duo Face-Off: Ruby & Sapphire vs. Winona & Wallace

Left: Colorization done by Lavenderscanlation
So originally this was going to be a much larger Valentines face-off featuring pairings like Bill & Daisy, Platinum & Diamond, Lisia & Chad etc. However I felt that some may see this as a byproduct as shipping, and it probably is. Non-canon pairings are, clues or no clues, still subjective. The other reason is that I feel like it was pretty obvious that these two would absolutely destroy the competition. Third, it's also quite fitting. Not only are these two some of the most memorable pairings from the RS series but this isn't just a face-off between pairs of lovebirds. This is also a face-off between student and teacher. As some of you may remember, Winona was Sapphire's teacher in terms of Pokemon battles while Wallace served as Ruby's teacher in terms of Pokemon contests. I personally think their relationship as student and teacher was one of the fun memorable aspects of Pokemon Adventures Ruby & Sapphire. Well, I think I talked enough. So let's get started.

Face-Off Rules

    • 4-hour Cool Down

    • The duo to reach zero points loses. The winner who still has his points, wins.

    • Subtract 1 point to your preferences.
Ruby & Sapphire: 12
Wallce & Winona: 12

Seventh Pokemon Adventures Face-Off - Stat Trainers Battle (Heal, Attack, Protect, x2 Attack, Accelerate)

This is Face-Off Battle between Stat Trainers! Some of you may have seen the terms above. They are from the old Battle Tournament Face-Off but I wouldn't quite call this an "update" if you notice the "Accelerate" term. I call this an experiment. Welcome to the Seventh Pokemon Adventures Face-Off. Here are the rules.
Face-Off Rules
  • 2-hour Cool Down
  • It's a Face-Off between the Stat Trainers!
  • Each Stat Trainer's Pokemon will have 20 HP.
  • Every time a Stat Trainer's Pokemon is knocked out, a command will be knocked out also.
  • Last Stat Trainer standing wins.
  • I will tally the votes. The last vote that knocked-out a stat trainer is where things will re-continue. This means that any trainer that lost or gained health after that vote doesn't count.
  • If this Face-Off fails to continue in two weeks, it will reset to a regular face-off.
  • The commands you must vote for are Heal, Attack, Protect, x2 Attack or Accelerate for each of the five stat trainers. You must vote blindly. Example below.
Cheryl's Blissey: Heal
Riley's Lucario: Attack
Buck's Claydol: Protect
Mira's Alakazam: x2 Attack
Marley's Arcanine: Accelerate

Commands: Heal, Attack, Protect, x2 Attack or Accelerate
  • Heal is +1. You heal the preferred Stat Trainer's Pokemon.
  • Attack is -1. You damage the preferred Stat Trainer's Pokemon.
  • x2 Attack is -2. You do greater damage to the preferred Stat Trainer's Pokemon.
  • Protect is the commonly seen "Block" mechanic. The preferred Stat Trainer's Pokemon is immune to damage, healing and acceleration until someone changes it. When the "Protect" command has moved to a different Pokemon, in that same turn the previous protected Pokemon is immune to whatever command was posted onto him in that same turn.
  • Accelerate multiplies the next command. Accelerate symbolizes speed and stat buff/debuff and this is the experimental portion of the game. When a player posts Accelerate next to the preferred stat trainer's Pokemon, in the next turn they could potentially get +2 Heal, -2 Attack or -4 Attack from the next voter. Accelerate does not affect Protect or Accelerate again.

Face-Off Rules
  • This face-off does have a few story spoilers of Pokemon Adventures BW2.

  • The objective is for one of the teams to win. There will be a total of two matches.
  • Voting is done by voting blindly like "Foongus use Gigadrain" and I shall tally the numbers. For example.
There is a list of commands to use for each character, each with an explanation of what it does. You say "Foongus use Gigadrain" in order to vote and the next person could say "Brycen-Man use Ice Beam" to vote. I will tally the votes. If no one votes due to confusion, I shall vote to display a more accurate example.

Red & Mewtwo wins the DNA-Genetic Pokemon Face-Off!

npH4Uh2.png

Pokemon Adventures 12th Face-Off - DNA-Genetic Pokemon Face-off - Deoxys vs. Mewtwo
This face-off will be based on one of the most famous and popular Pokemon battles of Pokemon Adventures, Deoxys the DNA Pokemon vs. Mewtwo the Genetic Pokemon. This battle is notable because Giovanni isn't using trickery to challenge Mewtwo but rather challenging Mewtwo to a fair fight using Deoxys, one of the few Pokemon that can actually challenge, if not possibly overpower Mewtwo. As the manga explained, Mewtwo is the most powerful Pokemon of the world, not the universe.

Pokemon Adventures 19th Face-Off - You. Me. Us Face-Off!

So here's a neat little detail about the names of the Lake Guardian. The beginning of each names come from personal pronouns. Uxie (You), Mesprit (Me), Azelf (Us). However this is not simply a face-off about the Lake Guardians. This is a face-off about the symbolic friendship of Dia, Pearl and Platinum. Like Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf, Dia represents emotions, Pearl represents willpower and Platinum represents knowledge. As one person noted, individually they are incomplete but together through their friendship, they become whole. So this is a face-off of Uxie's and Platinum's knowledge, Azelf's and Pearl's willpower, Mesprit's and Dia's emotions and ???'s ???! Which of these four will win this face-off!

20th Pokemon Adventures Face-Off - Strictly Final Battles

"Zygarde Agitated" has won the Strictly Final Battles Face-Off!

Pokemon Adventures 20th Face-Off! - Strictly Final Battles Face-Off!

The 20th Face-Off of the Pokemon Adventures Face-Off thread will be strictly final battles as in it will literally focus on the final battle of each story arc. Multiple final battles will be called "Expanded Final Battles" in the future. BE WARNED. SERIOUS PLOT-TWISTING SPOILERS. I AM VERY SERIOUS! This is not like the anime! This has some real serious spoilers that makes the audience rethink how the story is going to go down or how it affects the characters. I will try to avoid as much spoilers as possible but there is so much you also can't avoid when assessing a final battle of Pokemon Adventures. Also chapters that aren't complete shall be skipped, so no BW2 or SM.

List of Final Battles
  • A Charizard... and a Champion - Red vs. Green (Rival) (RGB)
  • The Legend - Yellow vs. Lance (Y)
  • The Last Battle - Pokedex Holders vs. Mask of Ice (GSC)
  • It All Ends Now - Everyone vs. Groudon & Kyogre
  • Can Mewtwo dish it out with a spoon? - Red & Mewtwo vs. Giovanni & Deoxys (FRLG)
  • The Final Battle - Pokedex Holders vs. Guile Hideout (E)
  • Double Trouble with Dialga & Palkia - DPPt Pokedex Holders vs. Cyrus (DP)
  • The Final Dimensional Duel - Everyone vs. Giratina (Pt)
  • It's All About Arceus - Gold vs. Arceus (HGSS)
  • The Power of Dreams - Black vs. Ghetsis (BW)
  • Zygarde Agitated - Everyone vs. Lysandre & Zygarde (XY)
  • ORAS 22 - Mega Rayquaza vs. Deoxys (ORAS)
Summaries of Final Battles
These are summaries of the final battles. They do contain story spoilers.

A Charizard... and a Champion - Red vs. Green (Rival) (RGB)
It was a legendary rivalry that spanned three volumes but this is where it all ends, the Indigo Plateau home to the Pokemon League. This fight is memorable for showing just how much Red & Green (Rival) have not only grown but also learned from each other, becoming not just respectable rivals but also the best of friends. Not only that, this was quite the intense and shocking final match to decide who would become Pokemon Champion.

The Legend - Yellow vs. Lance (Y)
Imagine the hero having the unbeatable power of friendship by his side, a pretty common trope in shonen manga nowadays right? Now imagine the villain having the unbeatable power of friendship, that was what Yellow and her friends were up against, the antagonistic Lance of the Elite Four whose friendship with his Pokemon was almost unrivaled, perhaps even surpassing even Red's. Add to the fact that Lance is a master tactician at Pokemon battles who is full of surprises and you can certainly feel the intensity and struggle from Yellow's point of view.

The Last Battle - Pokedex Holders vs. Mask of Ice (GSC)

Now this is how you do fanservice right. All 16 Gym Leaders fighting Team Rocket. The GS Ball mystery unraveled. An exciting confrontation between Lugia & Ho-Oh and hundreds and hundreds of Pokemon from across the region. The Mask of Ice reveals his plan and it all accumulates to one final battle where all that's left standing in the way of the Masked Man's goal are the four original and three newest Pokedex Holders of the Gen 2 era.

It All Ends Now - Everyone vs. Groudon & Kyogre (RS)

Quite possibly the most brutal and darkest final battle on the list, we have almost every single character you can think of from the Hoenn region going up against the battle-frenzied Groudon & Kyogre. The stakes are high, Hoenn is in great danger, secrets are revealed and you can certainly feel the terror in these pages. To say this kaiju-disaster movie-inspired fight was intense is an understatement.

Can Mewtwo Dish it out with a Spoon? - Red & Mewtwo vs. Giovanni & Deoxys (FRLG)

Here it is, the rematch between Champion Red & Rocket Boss Giovanni. The battle between Mewtwo and Deoxys. Coming back to reclaim his status as strongest trainer, Giovanni challenges Red for his title of Pokemon Champion. However what really makes this battle legendary among fans is that this is quite possibly the first time that any Pokemon fan witness Mewtwo, intended to be the most powerful Pokemon created, being pushed to his limits in a fair Pokemon battle. His opponent? Deoxys who proves to be a worthy match, if not a far more dangerous Pokemon than Mewtwo.

The Final Battle - Pokedex Holders vs. Guile Hideout (E)

Another great piece of fanservice done right, this battle was not only a thrilling and exciting battle but also an emotional battle full of charm, wits and teamwork between three generations of Pokedex Holders, fighting against the villainous Guile Hideout and his wish-granted abomination, "False Kyogre", made of the vast dark seas itself. To see every Pokedex Holder pool all their skills and experience together from their journey's against this monstrosity is quite insane.

Double Trouble with Dialga & Palkia - DPPt Pokedex Holders vs. Cyrus (DP)

Knowledge, Emotion and Will Power. Not only was it a thrilling fight where the very universe was literally on the line, it was also a symbolic battle as we get to see whose beliefs were stronger. Our heroes belief in their friendship or Cyrus who stands alone at the top, holding strong to his nihilistic beliefs. From Dia's understanding of Cyrus's beliefs to the Reginator taking on Dialga & Palkia to Cyrus reaching a startling conclusion, this is all fans could ever hope for in a final battle against Team Galactic's Cyrus and more.

The Final Dimensional Duel - Everyone vs. Giratina (Pt)

Stat trainers? Check. Frontier Brains? Check. Team Galactic Members? Check. Volkner & Flint? Check. Scores and scores of legendaries? Yes, definitely check! And the best part? All of this is a fight against Giratina that takes place in the Distortion World. Unexpected confrontations, heartfelt reunions, thrilling battles from different angles of the Distortion World and Sinnoh's legendaries clash against each other over the fate of Sinnoh? What a thrilling conclusion to the Sinnoh saga.

All About Arceus - Gold vs. Arceus (HGSS)

So how do you wrap up a story arc revolving the God Pokemon himself? Have the cocky Gold challenge Arceus is how. Unlike other battles here, Gold had no intention of defeating Arceus but to prove the saddened Pokemon that there is still some good in the relationship between humanity and Pokemon. All of Gold's Pokemon that have been with him on his Pokemon journey would land powerful blows at the Alpha Pokemon, signifying their trust in one another. Unfortunately, Arceus isn't convinced because of one team member alone. Gold's Togepi, Togebo, who comes to a startling realization... he never evolved because of his relationship with Gold.

The Power of Dreams - Black vs. Ghetsis (BW)
If you thought you couldn't hate Ghetsis more after playing the games, then you have not read Pokemon Adventures Black & White. After Ghetsis reveals that he was the one who pulled all the strings behind Team Plasma's actions, manipulating the masses of Unova to his cause, creating much suffering to Black's friends by using their dreams or their Pokemon's wishes against them and revealing that his son, N, was nothing more than a puppet to him, we see an absolutely furious Black who wants to kick his ass.

Zygarde Agitated - X vs. Lysandre & Zygarde (XY)

An incredibly insane Pokemon battle, we see the powerful Zygarde at 50% under the control of Lysandre. Seemingly unstoppable, Zygarde absolutely defeats powerful Mega Evolutions with great ease, picking them off one by one. So how do you defeat such a Pokemon with such legendary strength, speed and camouflage? You pull off the most insane yet logical loophole in the lore of GameFreak's mechanics, that's what. Fans everywhere were absolutely flabbergasted by what X achieved but at the same time believed that X was the only one at the moment who had a real chance of defeating Zygarde.

ORAS 22 - Mega Rayquaza vs. Deoxys (ORAS)

In this adaption of the Delta Episode, we see Ruby & Sapphire ride the powerful Mega Ryaquaza to space, destroying a meteor only to reveal this whole time that the meteor was alive, the return of Deoxys himself. He's back baby and although this is one of the shorter fights, Deoxys proves himself to be a dangerous threat to even Mega Rayquaza.

Challengers: Lance the Master of Dragons vs. Zinnia the Lorekeeper of the Draconids
A face-off between two powerful Dragon-Masters, Lance's Dragonite's Hyper Beam is unmatched that no opponent will escape it's sight and Zinnia's Mega Salamence's blood red wings will slice through any object. This is also a face-off between former-antagonists who once both saw themselves as the hero only to realize that they've become the antagonist.

Lance: 0/12
Zinnia: 0/12

IMO zinnia's attempts to come off as more sympathetic felt a bit hollow due to how much of an asshole she was the whole arc

Oh yeah. He's easily one of the nigh-invincible Pokemon trainers of the entire Pokemon series.

She was pretty much like that in the games too. Still I think she's more sympathetic in the manga because of a lot of her stubbornness stems from the loss of her friend Aster.

Ew Zinnia she's like the worst part of ORAS

(I understand it's a PokeSpe face-off but it doesn't change how much I dislike her lol)
That's alright, I don't mind you basing your opinion from the games. A lot of PokeSpe characters are similar to or an expansion of their game counterparts including Zinnia. If you didn't liked her in the games, you probably won't like her in the manga.

Challengers: Lusamine the President of the Aether Foundation vs. Giratina the Ruler of the Distortion World
What? You thought I was going to do Archer & Faba? Nope. Next match-ups are also decided by RNG! So in one corner we got Giratina the Ruler of the Distortion World whose Shadow Force is unmatched in evasion and Lusamine the President of the Aether Foundation, the caring mother who loves Pokemon with all her heart, whose love knows no bounds... No. Bounds. These two couldn't be a more fittingly terrifying match.

I have question! Is Giratina like evil-evil or evil in a way like Necrozma from USUM (who I also kinda liked lol)!
I think it's more like cranky evil. Giratina isn't just the ruler of the Distortion World. He's it's prisoner for it's violent deeds in the past.
