I don’t mind helping Alain win. But honestly, Ash vs Tobias was also great because even though he had no chance against that man, he still gave him one hell of a battle. He knocked out Darkrai, which is something no one else in the league did. Makes Ash look awesome, tbh.

It’s ironic how despite losing to Tobias and Alain, he comes out of both of those battles looking like a far more respectable trainer than he does for beating Gladion and wining the Alola League.

While I liked that fight, it was definitely underwhelming for what it was, hopefully the Kukui fight is great

Yeah, he didn’t hold back at all. Tobias existence does kind of annoy since all he was was a plot device to ensure Ash loses. He came out virtually nowhere with two legendary Pokemon. At least Alain wasn’t some random character created just to defeat Ash in the league. We had gotten to know Alain from the mega evolution specials and he didn’t disappear right after the league, sticking around for the Team Flare Arc.
