Laura Santaro and Mandy Redorit, S.S. Maria corridor
A bored-looking Laura and Mandy wandered down one of the quieter corridors of the S.S. Maria, hoping to find SOME indication as to where this cursed arena may actually be.
Mandy throws her arms behind her head as she walks. "Mannnn, i'm so BORED! How long have we been trying to find this stupid arena?"
Laura sighs. "You're telling me... this ship's a lot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside..."
There didn't seem to be anybody else on this corridor. There was just a few doorways leading to cabins. But as the girls walk closer to the stairs, they notice two boys, about their age, standing against the wall eyeing the rest of the floor.
One of the boys wore his blue hair in a mohawk, and wore a gold earring in his left ear. He was dressed in a black and blue waterproof tracksuit jacket, baggy blue jeans and white trainers. The other was slightly taller, with average-length orange hair. He wore green-tinted glasses, a grey vest with black cargo pants and black trainers. He also wore a large pair of headphones around his neck.
The boy with the mohawk wolf-whistles to Laura and Mandy as they walk past. Laura just ignores them, Mandy sticks her middle finger up at them without even looking at them.
"Heyheyhey, what's that for?" The boy with the mohawk says. He spoke with a slow, street-like voice.
Laura and Mandy stop, and look back at them. "For being so typical." Mandy retorts.
The boy with the glasses smirks and steps forward slightly. "We wasn't bothering you." He spoke with a quick, witty voice. "We was bored, is all. Admirin' the view."
Mandy turns away from them, and sarcastically shakes her behind at them. "Hope you're enjoying the view then!" She says in a mocking tone, then turns towards the stairs. "Come on, let's ditch these creeps."
The boy with the mohawk shrugs, then walks forwards with his arms still out. "Now you're callin' us creeps? You don't even know us. Not our names, not even where we're from."
Laura raises an eyebrow. "Go ahead then?"
"I'm Jermaine." The boy with the mohawk says, folding his arms.
"And i'm Scooter." The boy with the glasses answers. "As for where we're FROM-"
Both boys cross their arms and stick the index fingers on both hands out to the side, as if striking a pose. "Jubilife City, SIN-NOH!! Born and Raised!" Jermaine says, clearly proud of his origins."
Mandy keeps her frown and nods. "Good for you." She turns to Laura, and they both start to walk away.
"Hey, where you goin'?" Jermaine stops them.
Mandy growls, and turns to them, starting to get annoyed. Before she can speak, however, Laura gets there first. "Do you want something from us?"
"We just wanna be entertained, is all." Jermaine says, sounding genuine. "As you kinda guessed, this floor's kinda empty and we're bored. And to be fair you look kinda lost y'selves?"
"If you MUST know..." Mandy says finally. "We're looking for one of the arenas."
Scooter walks forward and licks his lips. "We know where they are. Maybe we can help each other out...?"
Laura raises an eyebrow. "Like... how?"
"How 'bout a battle?" Jermaine says finally. "If ya beat us, MAYBE we'll tell yous where to go."
Laura and Mandy look at each other and sigh, then back at the boys. They know they won't get away unless they give them something.
"What are your names?" Jermaine says, scratching his behind.
"-and where are you from?" Scooter chips in.
Mandy sighs out of irritation. "Phenac City, Orre."
Laura nods. "Pyrite Town, Orre."
Jermaine and Scooter look at each other with huge grins on their faces. "Pyrite Town!?" They say in unison. "A-WOOOOOOOOO!"
Laura tilts her head. "What about Pyrite Town?"
Jermaine laughs and points out Laura's clothes. "Man, i shoulda GUESSED you was from Pyrite Town by the way you're dressed! Ain't you got no standards?"
Laura senses what they're getting at and and frowns. Mandy defensvely walks forward."And just what's THAT supposed to mean?"
Scooter closes his eyes and shakes his head, all while keeping his smug grin. "Don't act like you don't know."
"Yeahh..." Jermaine adds. "Everyone knows about the kinda girls in Pyrite Town! If you know the right people, that place is a goldmine of benefits!"
Laura clenches her fists and scowls at the boys. "I KNOW there's a lot of sl*tty girls in Pyrite Town... but what right do you have to assume i'm the same!?"
Scooter laughs and holds up his arms in the air mockingly. "Heyyyy, come on, didn't mean to touch a nerve there!"
Jermaine laughs and looks at Scooter. "Yeah, dude, leave her be - it ain't our fault she lives in council house with a scrap metal roof!"
Scooter throws his arm over Jermaine's shoulder and faces him. "You missed out the part about child benfits."
Laura grits her teeth, but can't help blushing slightly. She'd never been so insulted in her life, even though a lot of what they were saying was true.
Surprsingly, Mandy wasn't kicking off. She just scowled at them and shook her head. "You guys are LOW. Is this what you do - judge people from where they're FROM? We're not gonna battle you, i wouldn't even SPIT in your direction."
The girls turn away and head towards the stairs, still fuming.
Jermaine and Scooter slowly stop laughing, then look up at them. "Your little Pikachus and Jigglypuffs wouldn't stand a chance anyway!" Jermaine yells.
Laura stops and turns around, a look of IMMENSE fury in her eyes. These boys had insulted her hometown and standards, but the angriness she felt from that was NOTHING compared to how she felt now. Now that they had called her a stereotype that Laura despises more than anything, she WAS going to make them pay.
"You think i like cute Pokemon?" Laura says quietly, with a massive amount of irritation in her voice. "Listen to me, f*cknuts - i may be a girl but i HATE cute Pokemon, and i HATE how so many people seem to think how we're SUPPOSED to HAVE cute Pokemon!!"
Laura walks up to Jermaine and gets right in his face, changing his confident attitude and making him hesitate. "I suppose you think i've dressed all my Pokemon in a little pink bow tie and spray them with perfume too, huh? HUH!?"
Laura stands back a bit, with the same look on her face. Mandy was just smirking and holding back a laughter, she knew they'd touched a nerve now and they were going to pay for it.
Laura looks back at Mandy, and draws a Pokeball. "Mandy, lets knock these creeps into next week!"
Mandy nods and smirks, drawing a Pokeball of her own. "You got it."
Jermaine and Scooter were feeling rather taken back, but they nod to each other and draw a Pokeball of their own, their smug grins replaced by determined faces. They both walk towards Laura.
"Hold it!" Mandy yells at Scooter, standing in his way. "You're mine, four-eyes!" Mandy throws her Pokeball and releases her Elektrike.
Scooter nods. "'Bout time somethin' happened." He then releases his Baltoy from his Pokeball.
Laura faces Jermaine and scowls at him once again, then throws her Pokeball and sends out her Sandile, while Jermaine sends out a Throh.
"Throh, use Brick Break!" Jermaine orders, and his Throh dashes towards Sandile with its fist out.
"Sandile, use Swagger!" Laura commands quickly. Sandile taunts Throh, which stops and clenches its large fists in rage. However, it becomes so angry that it confuses itself.
"Hey, whattya doin'?" Jermaine yells in anger. "Use Brick Break!" But Throh was too confused to hear a word.
"Now, Toxic!" Laura orders. Sandile's cheeks fill up and it spits a small purple blob at Throh. Upon hitting, Throh, falls to its knees in pain and shakes weakly as a purple aura starts to surround it.
"Throh!" Jermaine gawps, then looks angirly at Laura. "That's a CHEAP combo!"
Laura smirks, and jiggles her chest mockingly. "Oh, CHEAP huh? Like us Pyrite girls?" Jermaine looks to the floor, then back his Pokemon. "Throh, use Mach Punch!"
Throh managed to snap out of its confusion and runs painfully towards Sandile. Despite the posion, it managed to land a decent hit on Sandile, and the added rage from Swagger made the hit critical. Sandile flies backwards, but Throh once again falls to its knees from the poison.
"Sandile, use Fire Fang!" Laura yells. Sandile jumps back up and runs towards Throh as its teeth become red-hot, which it then sninks into Throh's side. Throh yelps in pain, then faints from a combination of the poison and the heat.
Jermaine growls, and returns his Throh. "I ain't done yet..." He gets out another Pokeball and throws it, releasing a Marshtomp.
Laura looks down at Sandile. "Hang in there buddy..." "Sannnnnnnddd..."
"Marshtomp, use Water Gun!" Jermaine orders. Marshtomp runs forward and spits a cold jet of water at Sandile.
"Sandile, get out of the way!" Laura orders. Sandile does a side-roll, but it wasn't quick enough, and the water grazed Sandile and knocked it to the side. It was still able to fight, but barely. Laura looks at Sandile concerned, then faces Marshtomp. "Sanile, use Toxic!"
Sandile muster enough strength to run forward and spit another purple blob at Marshtomp. Jermaine panics. "Move it, Marshtomp!" Marshtomp jumps in the air does a flip just in the nick of time, but Marshtomp's foot is grazed by the Toxic, poisoning it, but not by the degree Throh was.
"Finish it! Ice Punch!" Jermaine commands. Marshtomp runs towards Sandile, slightly limping from the poison, and holds its fist in the air. Cold air surrounds Marshtomp's fist, then it punches Sandile hard in the gut. Sandile couldn't take any more, and faints as it gets knocked back.
Laura smiles weakly. "Well done, get some rest." Laura returns her Sandile and gets out her next Pokeball, releasing her Tyrogue.
Jermaine smirks. "That all you got? Marshtomp, Water Gun!" Marshtomp shoots another jet of water in Tyrgoue's direction.
"Dodge, and use Bullet Punch!" Laura commands. Tyrogue does a cartwheel to avoid the Water Gun and runs towards Marshtomp. Tyrogue's fist becomes hard as steel and it punches Marshtomp hard in the stomach. Marshtomp flies backwards, it didn't see the attack coming due to only seeing its own Water Gun in front of it.
Jermaine grits his teeth and gestures for Marshtomp to get up. "Marshtomp, Mud Shot!" Marshtomp stands up with difficulty, the effects of the poison getting worse, and shoots a large stream of mud out of its mouth.
"Uh-oh!" Laura says. "Tyrogue, Endure!" Tyrogue nods and crouches, lowering its head. The Mud Shot hits, doing quite a bit of damage, but the Endure makes it barely survive.
Jermaine grits his teeth. "Damn... this girl's good..."
"This'll be risky..." Laura thinks to herself. "But if it works, it'll make a huge difference." Laura looks confidently at Tyrogue. "Now, Hi Jump Kick!"
Tyrogue leaps high into the air and falls towards Marshtomp, its left foot outstretched.
Jermaine's eyes widen in horror. "Oh crap!... Marshtomp, out of the way! Quick!" But Marshtomp was too drained to avoid the kick, and Tyrogue's foot lands HARD on Marshtomp's head. Unsurprisingly, this was more than enough for an instant KO.
"Hmph... gues it's all or nothin'." Jermaine retorts, returning his Marshtomp and sending out a Yamask.
Tyrogue slowly stands up, the force of the landing from Hi Jump Kick clearly taken a toll. "Come on Tyrogue, just one more! Use Hi Jump Kick again!"
Laura thought the move's lucky hit would happen again, but Laura was unaware that Yamask is a Ghost type, and the attack just goes right through, making Tyrogue fly HARD into the nearby wall with a splat. Laura cringes at this, and returns her favorite Pokemon.
Laura scratches her head in embaressment as she looks at Tyrogue's Pokeball. "Sorry... i shoulda guessed that it was a Ghost type..." Laura gets out her last Pokeball and throws it in the air, sending out her Bagon.
Jermaine smirks. "Well... THIS should be fun. Yamask, use Will-o-Wisp!" A bluish flame materialises in front of Yamask and it flies at Bagon. Strangely, Laura makes no attempt to make bagon avoid it, and it makes a direct hit, inflicting a serious burn.
"Now Bagon, use Dragon Dance!" Laura orders. A reddish aura surrounds Bagon and it inhales deeply and then exhales. The meditation focused Bagon's mind and raised its strength and speed. It also slightly distracted bagon from the pain of its burn.
"That won't help ya, chick!" Jermaine retorts. "Shadow Ball!" A large black ball of energy forms in front of Yamask, which is hurled at Bagon.
"Dodge, and finish it with Hydro Pump!" Bagon jumps high in the air, barely avoiding the Shadow Ball, and opens its mouth to release a ginormous jet of water.
"Say what!?" Jermaine wasn't expecting an attack like that. Neither was Yamask, it was much too large for the Ghost Pokemon to avoid, smacking it against the wall and KO'ing it instantly.
"BOOYAH!!" Laura squeals with excitement, returning her Bagon and looking at the Pokeball. "Well done buddy!"
Jermaine returns his Yamask and falls to his knees in disappointment. "Daaaaaammmmmnnnnnnn..."
Luckily, Mandy had just won her battle with Scooter around the same time. Scooter scratches his head and looks at the floor in defeat. "Of all the rotten luck!"
Laura and Mandy fist-pump each other, then walk over to their defeated opponents. Mandy grabs Scooter and Jermaine by the collars. "Now then, you were saying about where the arena is?"
Scooter sighs. "Three floors down, but you gotta get the stairs to the next floor then take the elevator for the next two."
Mandy smirks and lets them go. "Thankyou for time, boys." Mandy and Laura head towards the stairs down to the next, not before Laura looks back, smirks and shakes her behind at them. "Not bad, huh? For a PYRITE girl!"
Jermaine and Scooter gather themselves and walk off in embaressment as Laura and Mandy walk downstairs.
