Everything was black and still but nothing was silent, the sounds of the sea gull’s screeching high above and the sound of crashing waves was below. From all around the sound of feet tapping on the floor was everywhere around him.

“Its really quite nice here don’t ya think Bulbasaur?” said the young man lying back on the brick wall, he sat up pulling the blind up off his eyes to take in the scene he had sensed around him, Jamie looked on the brick wall just above where his head was a moment before squinting his eyes from the sudden brilliant sun shine. A bright green coloured blob leapt up onto his lap. His vision was blurred after keeping them so tightly shut for so long but after blinking away the fuzzyness he smiled as he saw how brightly his pokemon was smiling up at him.

“Bulba” said the pokemon but as soon as it opened its mouth the noise it made was drowned out by the loud horn noise coming from the nearest boat. It was a large sea liner and at the sight of it Jamie smiled and pulled out a ticket from his pocket, getting slowly and lazily to his feet he pulled picked up his red and beige messenger bag and putting it over his shoulder noticed how accurate the picture of a boat on the ticket was in likeness to the boat that had just let out the loud noise.

“Lets go Bulbasaur!” Jamie said and he started to walk towards the boat, closely followed by his running Bulbasaur.

Showing his ticket to a man standing at the bottom of a set of steps leading onto the deck of the ship Jamie suddenly realised the slight glowing of the bulb on his pokemon’s back, grinning because he knew what that meant he stepped onto the ship.

As Jamie looked over the edge of the ship a slight smile on his face and a slightly tired look in his eyes which he usually wore he looked at all the people on the port wondering who else there was going to bored the ship, it was then that he noticed the large amount of people all lining up to get on the boat now and each of them was dressed in some form of upper class dress or tuxedo. Jamie raised his eye brow as he saw the brightly coloured dress of a rather large woman that was a sparkly bright red, her hair was an orange ginger colour and atop of her hair was the largest and most peculiar hat which was donned in red sequins and a hint of pink ribbon.

“This is going to be interesting” he said as he turned round to lean back on the dock to look up at the perfect clear blue sky, the light breeze gently blowing his open pink button shirt. Bulbasaur smiled up at him, its bulb giving another more prominent glow.

“Alright Sneasel, finish it with your Ice Shard!” cried Alex, as his Pokemon began firing circular discs of Ice at the towering Garchomp before him. The large Dragon collapsed to the ground.

“Winner, Alexander Misura!’ shouted the ref, waving a green flag in Alex’s direction.

“Well, congratulations,” said Cynthia, the champion of the Sinnoh region, “You’re the new champion.”

Alexander woke to the sound of a blaring ship horn, and the sight of many well dressed people boarding the ship. However, one person did catch his eye. It was a trainer, with a Pink button up shirt that was undone, and his Bulbasaur that was standing next to him.
Alex got up from the bench, and pulled his ticket out of his Jacket pocket, and realized that the picture of the ship on the ticket looked just like the real deal.

“C’mon Sneasel, seems like this is going to be fun,” said Alex as he climbed the steps of the ship with his Pokemon, and handed the man at the top of the stairs his boat ticket.

OOC: sorry about the short post, i'm a lil pressured for time and i wasn't sure how to start this...

IC: Jack Mariner

I was bored. Seriously, seriously bored. For some unknown reason I arrived early and now I was leaning against the rails on the decking looking out over the harbour. Bored out of my head.

It was a nice day really, I thought absentmindedly, trying to do something. The typical ‘nice’ day you could say. There was lots of sunshine with some fluffy puffs of clouds floating uncaringly. The sea was calm with only the slightest amount of rippling of the waves from the gentle sea breeze lazily wafting around me and my pokemon.

Blades sat on the decking next to me fanning himself with his leaf-fans, looking just as bored as me, gazing into space like he was on a trip or something. A loud horn blared out unmercifully to its listeners but both my Shiftry and I hardly batted an eyelid over it while I noticed some other people looked up or flinched at the unfriendly screech.

‘Man I wish something would happen already’, I said aloud to nobody in particular. I avoided eye contact with the other passengers on the ferry as they walked past. For some reason, they were all dressed up like…all formal. Well, compared to me I guess. Looking down at my exposed chest, I told myself it was a warm day and it would be good to get more of a tan. I turned back round to face the sea and sighed heavily. This was going to be a long day.

The cool breeze, the sound of the gulls overhead and the waves just out of sight, and the warm, but not harsh, sunlight. The weather really couldn't get any better today. And he had plenty of time to enjoy it since Comet was taking his time following him. Ken pulled a bit on his backpack strap to adjust the weight on his shoulders while he waited for Comet to catch up. From just behind him, the jump-suited Ledian came rolling around the corner and came to a stop with his two right fists held out.

Ken just laughed and motioned toward the nearby boat with his hand. "Come on Comet, we're going to be late if you keep playing around like that."

Comet nodded, flipped his visor up, and unfolded his wings to hover along next to Ken. The rapid movements of his wings filled the air with a slight hum.

As the two of them neared the boat, Ken caught sight of the long line of richly dressed people waiting to board. "Wow, this really must be a special trip." Ken said to himself. Comet hummed in agreement as he wearily eyed the crowd.

Ken dug in his pockets for the ticket he had received, and he showed it to the man at the steps. Surprisingly, he didn't take the ticket, or even stamp it, he just nodded and let Ken board the ship. He made his way over to the railing on the bow almost immediately. This was the best view on the ship, especially when they would depart, and he wanted to make sure he didn't miss it. Comet hovered about here and there, but even he seemed a bit more relaxed than usual, perhaps he was picking up on Ken's feelings? The cool, salty air blew over the top of the ship, and Comet landed on the deck to avoid getting blown about by the wind. The weather was great, the ship was huge, and from the line of people he had seen outside, this was going to be a once in a lifetime trip.

Sophi so silleh~
*sorry if its a little short, I'll edit it in a moment when i've switched computers for more length*

Sophi yawned as she tried her hardest to stay awake on the ferry, though the gentle rocking was doing anything but helping her. Her Corsola sat asleep across her lap, every few minutes nuzzling at her leg. She smiled to herself watching the Pokémon sleep. Normally it was in it's ball, of which Sophi had decorated with a few of the seals she got over on a Sinnoh trip some time ago.

As she watched out over the horizon she thought back to the trouble she had when registering, more specifically when filling in her details. It was definatly not good when a background could not be found on her by the name, she had gotten into a little trouble over her gender. Her body tensed up as the memory hit what had always caused her problems. Being born as a boy always bugged her for people to know and judge her on, though she was more thankful that she still looked quite feminine, though the thick red eye shadow was a tiny bit freaky she had been told, and that the Corsola of hers seemed to draw a little attention away. She just hoped that if anyboy else on the ship found out, they wouldn't judge her too badly.

Carefully, so as not to awaken her sleeping Pokémon, she stood up with the Corsola in her arms and began to wander around, at times just ebecoming distracted by the sights of some water Pokémon in the sea or, something very frequent, she wanted to just sit back down and stay there for a few minutes. She loved to be lazy but there was times when she felt she couldn't be much bothered to do something. Though if it was important she always found some way to get it done. Softly, her Pokémon began to stir and was already sniffing at the air, somewhere in the distance able to smell food. Just as Sophi had guessed, and elder looking man had wandered past the two sitting down again, eating some food Sophi couldn't quite see clearly.

"Finally!" A young black-haired boy with black long shorts and emerald green short stood up. He stood up, pushing away the white rope coiled on his stomach. The rope uncoiled itself, and wriggled around, shaking the wings on her head. The boy picked up the white snake and patted it on the head. He walked out of the waiting building, getting ready to board

"Hehe.... Are you ready Izume?!" Luke stated as he rubbed the white snake. Her yellow orbs reflected the sunlight, glistening as Izume rubbed her head against Luke's hand. Luke turned around, looking at the docks. He was ready to board, after hearing all the things the letter said. He really did not care about what that letter said.

All Luke was interested in was the Super Hotel. Luke smirked as he thought about the free room service, the nice suites, and all the food he could eat. As Luke was in deep thought, he was bumped aside by a rude man in a black tuxedo. He turned around to complain, but he saw a host of tuxedos, suits, and fancy dresses. He tried to dodge them, but he was overwhelmed, and taken to the main deck.

"Wait! Stop-" His cries were drowned out by the tapping of feet, and the roar of voices. When he finally made his way out of the crowd, he found that his ticket had already been handed in. He looked around at the ship. It had a pool, or at least that's what some people he stood next to spoke. As he looked around, he felt something behind him.

"Are you Luke?" The man bellowed. His voice was gravely, like a smoker's voice. He was wearing a blue uniform and had a white mustache. Luke jumped as he heard the man speak to him. Luke nodded, and saw the man become excited. "Right this way Sir!" His voice had become a welcoming and happy one.

"Oh good... How long will it be before we make landfall.?" Luke said as he walked with the man.

"Ah.... Its in a few days or so, you should be prepared for the ride. Let me show you your suite." The attendant was hurrying Luke.

"No thank you, I'll mingle!!" Luke took his room card, and walked towards the food courts. Izume coiled around his neck. "Fine... I'll feed you!!"

Taking a deep breath in of the salty refreshing sea breeze Jamie decided to look for a comfortable place to lye down; as he turned and gazed around the ship he took in the amount of people in flashy expensive clothes. He looked down at his own outfit with a sense as if he didn’t belong in his unbuttoned pink top over a sleeveless white tank top and beige knee length short’s, but there were others on the ship wearing less than what can only be called a fortune in clothes.

There was one girl sitting by herself on the end of a long bench with a pink pokemon on her lap that he recognised as Corsola having once owned one himself, continuing his look he saw a guy standing at the front of the boat with a ledian standing next to him and though he had never owned that pokemon he had seen many of them in his time at the Johto region. He then noticed another male trainer standing on the other side of the boat, this man looked slightly aggravated and next to him was a fairly large pokemon Jamie hadn’t seen but he decided to focus on that later.

Jamie walked slowly over to the long bench that the girl with the Corsola was sitting on.

“Lets go chill out Bulbasaur” he said and the pokemon happily followed him it’s bulb giving another little glow, as Jamie approached the girl sitting on the bench he spoke to her,

“Hey I assume your going to take part in the tournament and is it okay if I?” Jamie said smiling gently at her, his eyes half shut and signalling with his hand at the blank space on the bench.

Sophi cried out as she got some shock as she looked out still over the sea. It was obvious by the look she had before making any sound that she had quickly and deeply spaced out, off in her own mind as she was doing increasingly on the journey on the ferry. It was more the sudden voice that made her cry out, though she was softly nudged in the stomach by her Corsola. She looked down as the Pokémon nodded in the boys direction. She turned and looked up feeling a little embarrassed. "Y-yeah..." She looked over his body language and made a guess, correct at that, guess as to what he had said when she was spaced out. "Feel free to sit there. Me and Zavara are just relaxing before the tournament starts." She smiled softly to herself as the blush from her earlier embarrassment faded away to nothing. "Though I doubt we ever do anything else." She said the final part quietly under her breath as she trailed her fingers gently over the Pokémon's back. "My name's Sophi Tesaya by the way." She glanced back to him with a smile as she quickly, subconciously, tugged on the bottom of her black tanktop from nervousness. She was hoping he wouldn't notice much due to her slightly lower pitched voice that what would normally be expected.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe we were almost late!" a girl panted as she burst onto the deck, her Pikachu quickly dashing up after wards. After catching her breath quickly, Alice Jerkins managed to push her long, black hair out of her eyes and look around.

The ship was huge, magnificent and probably the most expensive thing Alice had ever been on. Most of her travels had included walking and cycling and she had never been on a boat before, despite living in Sunnyshore City for a good part of her life. The deck was filled with well dressed people and the Asian quickly found herself out of place with her multi-coloured sun dress and bright orange sunglasses. She quickly pocketed the shades before taking another look around. There must be more trainers around, right?

As she continued to look, she noticed two teenagers sitting off to the side of the main hustle and bustle of the deck. They appeared to be trainers for the girl held a pink, rock-like Pokemon that Alice recognized as a Corsola and the boy had a small, grass-dinosaur next to him that the Asian didn't recognize at first. She scooped up her Pikachu and squeezed through the crowd, trying to get a better look.

When she was about ten feet away she recognized the dinosaur to be a Bulbasaur. She smacked herself out of her own stupidity and then sat down on a deck chair not too far away, slipping her sunglasses back on and absorbing the sun.

Luke walked around the food court. It was more of a couple of restaurants and bars, with a couple of pokemon shops. He knew the boat would be leaving in sometime, so he worked his way thorough the lines of people, and grabbed him a strawberry pina colada (No alcoholic of course.) He brought Izume a couple of poffin from home, and feed her promptly.

"Dragonair!!!" Izume happily ate the poffin, and then slithered up Luke's leg. Luke grabbed her, and placed her around his neck. She was as heavy as any Dragonair, but Luke was used to her weight. Many formally dressed people gave Luke crazy looks, probably amazed that such a young man could have such a rare pokemon. Of course, most people were jealous of his natural tan.

"Well.... Lets find us some other trainers." He made sure to keep his pina colada, because he could get a free refill. He still had half a cup, however. He began to walk over to a girl that was tanning. She held a pikachu in her arms.

Oh.... She's kinda hot!! Luke thought as he walked over to her. He sat down in a chair next to her. He quickly thought up a pick-up line. It's full proof!! He thought.

"Well hello! I'm the Tournament Attendant!"

"Really?" Alice asked, looking up opening her eyes and eying the boy that was now sitting next to her. He looked older than she was by at least a couple of years and had black hair like she did and surprising yellow eyes. She smiled at him and put her head back down on the chair.

There's no way that kid's old enough to be the attendant, she thought to herself but she ignored the thought in her head. If he was trying to make her pay attention she wasn't going to get him to win. She had often been the prize of many boys back in her trainer school yet she hadn't dated anyone there. She was waiting for the right guy to come around and she was doubting that it was this boy trying to smooth talk her on a cruise ship.

"Well that's nice to know," she said rather sleepily, not bothering to remove her sunglasses. "Can I help you with anything or are you going to allow me to go back to sleep?" She closed her eyes and let the sun beat its rays down on her. She felt Pikachu move briefly and knew that he was tensing to attack, just in case. He had helped Alice out of many jams before concerning boys and she knew that this newcomer was no exception.

Jamie smiled as the girl said he could sit and as he did he places his hands behind his head but on their way up he rubbed his chin and the slight bristles scratched his hand slightly. He took a deep sigh and looked down at the cute Corsola on the girls lap and he also noticed how shy she way, he decided to look around for something to talk about and as he did he noticed a girl sit down in a chair not that far from where he was sitting. As he watched a guy came and sat next to her and from the way he leant over he was obviously trying to make a pass at her, he grinned while thinking to himself that by the look of his clothes he was obviously another trainer as was the girl.

Jamie looked back at the girl he had sat next to now and his Bulbasaur had leapt up to his lap and had started playing with the Corsola using its vines to tickle and taunt the Corsola, he looked up at the girls face and spoke in his soft but deep voice.

“A Corsola huh, I have one of them but its back at Professor Elm’s” Jamie petted the pink pokemon on the head lazily but caringly.

He gave another glance over his shoulder at the boy and girl he saw sit down before.

Rejected!!! Luke thought as he stared at the girl. He saw the agitated pikachu, and knew he had to retreat. He slowly stood up, keeping his composure.

"OK... Don't hesitate to ask for any help." Luke walked away, looking for some other trainers (hot chicks.) He instead saw to people with pokemon sitting on a long bench. He catiously walked over, wondering if they were here for the same reason. There was a boy, and a girl. The boy seemed to be glancing in his direction, wearing a pink button-up shirt. Luke rubbed Izume, who was slithering behind him.

"Dragonair?" Izume seemed to sense what Luke was thinking. If this boy was hostile, she would protect Luke. Luke placed a smile on his face, wondering if the boy seemed to be having his same problem. He glanced over at the girl.

I guess she's kinda cute... Luke began to approach the bench. When he was only a few feet away, he motioned his hands apart, and plopped right between the girl and the boy.

"Fellow trainers I guess!" Luke spoke loudly, getting some looks from the other passengers. He glanced at the two pokemon. :Wow! a Bulbasaur, and look a Corsola! I never see those where I' from!"

Alex began looking around the deck at the other passengers. Most of them were all dolled up, like it was some glamorous banquet, but there were a few other kids who appeared to be other trainers. Alex wasn’t the kind of person to go up to random people and try to make friends, but he figured since they were trainer’s that would most likely be in the tournament, it couldn’t hurt to have a few friends there. He looked around and saw one girl sitting in a chair with her Pikachu, and another boy standing farther away at the end of the deck with a Ledian beside him. Then he looked over at a group of three trainer’s and their Pokemon. One was a girl, who he thought was kind of cute, who was sitting with a Corsola in her lap, and another was a boy sitting between the girl and the boy with the button up shirt and the Bulbasaur from earlier. He walked over, with Sneasel following right behind him.

“Umm…Hi, my names Alexander Misura, and this is my partner, Sneasel,” said Alex nervously.

“SNEA!” cried his Pokemon in joy.

“Mind if we hang with you guys?” asked Alex, who was still a bit Timid.

Jamie had just spoken to the girl and didn’t even have time to introduce himself to Sophi before the boy who had just tried his luck with the girl with a Pikachu came over and pushed between Jamie and Sophi, disgruntled by this Bulbasaur took on a sturn look and once more the bulb on it’s back glew again but for slightly longer this time. Picking his partner up Jamie stood up and looked with his half shut eyes down at the guy who had pushed in but once again before he could say anything more he was interrupted by another guy walking over and introducing himself and finishing with a request to sit with them.

Jamie put his Bulbasaur on his shoulder and spoke the new comer asking for a seat,

“Sure just take my seat” then turning to Sophi again “It was nice meeting you and Corsola, my name is Jamie Starwood by the way” and giving a two fingered salute to them he walked over and sat in the chair by the girl with the Pikachu and without saying anything laid back in the deck chair and pulled his red bandana down over his eyes and stroking the head of the Bulbasaur on his lap who’s bulb gave another faint glow as it smiled and rubbed its head on its trainers arm.

"Is he gone yet?" Alice asked as she lifted the orange sunglasses from her eyes. When she turned to the seat next to her she found not the boy who had claimed to be the attendant, but a different boy instead. He had messy brown hair and dark, chocolate eyes. He was cuter than the last boy, Alice mused, but also around twice as old.

"Oh good, I thought you were that other boy trying to hit on me," she said with a sigh, dropping the sunglasses again. "He shouldn't use such fake titles to try and get a girl to notice him. I mean really, who does he think he is?" She stopped her mindless chatter, sensing that maybe the older boy didn't want to listen to what she had to say. She was only fourteen after all and likely the youngest passenger on the boat.

Oh well, she thought. I can't help my need for adventure.

The nerve of some people! Luke thought as he watched Jamie walk away, and have the girl talk to him. Luke looked next to him. There was a boy, at least his age, sitting next to him. He saw a Sneasel near the boy. Luke looked at the newcomer.

"Well hello! I'm Luke Alexander Ventus, but please call me Luke..." Luke placed his hand as if he was going to shake his hand. Suddenly, Luke jumped to his feet. "Oh crude!! I forget Izume!!!" Luke ran to the chairs where the Jamie, and the mystery girl sat.

"Excuse me!! Have you guys seen a white serpent!!" Luke was checking under the chairs. As he waited for a reply, Luke heard a shriek.

"EEEK!! Its so pretty!!" A women was screaming from across the boat. Luke stared at the two trainers, and turned around.

"Never Mind!! Thanks anyway!!!" Luke ran as fast as he could across the deck. He dodged men and women, and jumped deck chairs and benches. He saw a big circle of people in the middle of the deck. Luke bulldozed his way through the people, and grabbed Izume.

"Hey! Its MINE!!" A women, maybe late twenties wearing a red dress with a white boa around her neck grabbed for the Dragonair. Izume tensed up. Luke knew thaat if he didn't hurry, Izume would use Ice Beam.

"BACK UP LADY!!" Luke yelled as he grabbed Izume. Izume didn't like Luke's hurried grip. She also was bitter for being left.

"Dragon... NAIR!!" Izume released a beam of freezing energy. Luke fell over, still holding her. A medic walked over, grabbing both Izume, and calling a stretcher for Luke.

"Lets get this kid in some hot water! Stat!!"

Sophi so silleh~
Sophi had stayed quiet pretty much the whole time, mostly it was down to worry that her voice would crack and make her too obvious. Corsola had fallen asleep way too quickly, a habit both the Pokémon and the trainer could share, but lucky Sophi had a slight bit more control. For once her gaze wasn't fixed off into space, but more so now on the Sneasel close by.

"Your Sneasel...it's pretty cute." She spoke softly, barely audiable. She then turned to the boy. "M-my name's Sophi by the way." She could feel her nerves tensing, it had been quite a few months, possibly a year, since she'd been around so many people who could speak to her. She yawned a little as she stretched her arms above her head, a soft clicking coming from her right wrist. As she brought her hands down she took off the gloves she was wearing with the gender symbols on them, a little taken back when her gem stones bracelet was let into the sun light and had flashed a little into her eyes.

As he heard the girl with orange sun glasses talk to him he raised his bandana from his eyes but at that exact moment the boy from before came running over,

‘Is he stalking me or something’ Jamie thought amusingly to himself.

As the boy rambled on about one thing or another and disappearing at the screech of some woman behind him Jamie turned to the girl again.

“Yeah he came over to us at the end of that bench a moment ago and forced himself between me and that girl, right after from the sounds of it you rejected him” Jamie let out a slight laugh not one of a taunting gesture but more to his own bored amusement.

“Anyway my names Jamie and this is Bulbasaur” he said petting once again the head of his Bulbasaur, it shot out one of its vine’s each for the pokemon and the trainer to shake while Jamie just blinked lazily at the sky which was darkening from a pale baby blue to a bright sunset orange.

The almost sudden drop in light had made the Bulbasaur’s pulsating glow of its bulb a little more prominent, as Jamie caught this in the corner of his eye he thought to himself.

‘I wonder how long it will be before the time comes?’ and so with so much on his mind he hadnt noticed he had left his beige and red messenger bag behind on the bench.

Bane of Optomists.
Joel stood irresolute on the pier, hair rusting in the wind and shimmering with beads of water. He silently glanced over the crowds assembling around the entrance to the boat, eyes flickering between the figures, giving each an assaying look over. Then he sighed, and tasted the salty tang of the air. He’d never spent all that much time by the ocean, more because of the path that he travelled rather than any conscious effort to avoid it, but he’d never really taken to it. Looking over, he saw Kole curled up on a pile of crates, giving him a look. His fur was flecked with sea foam. Joel raised an eyebrow.

“It’s not that bad.” Kole’s eyebrow twitched. “Come on. You’re not going to waste all the effort we put to get this trip, are you.”

It was a statement more than anything else. Kole remained stock-still momentarily, then gave a low half-growl, half-grunt, uncurling and stalking over. Kole never seemed to appreciate the fresh ocean air either. Joel gave a momentary twitch of the lip, then it was gone. Brushing a strand of moist hair from his eyes, the two slowly strode over the cobbles towards the boat. There were all sorts of trainers mingling around the docks, some unaccomplished young rookies foolishly out for a bit of fun, others roughened, grizzled veterans, checking over their Pokemon. He wondered if any of them would prove much of a challenge. He hoped so.

He drew his ticket out of his pocket, emblazoned with a roughly crown-shaped stamp in the corner. Flashing it to the guard at the ramp, he strode up the ramp and on board the ship. He glanced over the crowds again, then wandered over to one of the benches and sat down, Kole coiling around his ankles. Absent-mindedly stroking Kole with one hand, he pulled out his pendant and began to absently finger it. He wondered about what sort of events were to come, whether it was going to be worth him having put in the work for it. Slowly drifting out of his reverie, he looked down. Kole was still coiled around his legs. His fur was almost completely dry. Joel’s legs were soaked.

“You *******.” Kole just curled up, a slight smile etched across his face.
