(OOC: Okay, time to get this thing moving again....)
Kyle clenched both his fists as he watched Swellow feebly try to get back up into a position to fly. After he rolled back over and fluttered his wings feebly for several seconds, Kyle saw that it was a hopeless proposition to make Swellow keep fighting. Quickly returning him to his Quick Ball to save him any further damage, Kyle turned his attention back to Cyndaquil and Voltorb. They were barely succeeding in holding off the Regirock (or whatever it really was), and could only slow down its movement a little. This was hopeless!
No, Kyle thought, there's gotta be a way.
"C'mon! You can do this!" Kyle yelled. Cyndaquil and Voltorb seemed to take to these words and kept to their best effort, but the strange Pokémon was still advancing. Kyle clenched his teeth. He didn't want to call in a retreat....
And he wouldn't have to. Suddenly, a flurry of leaves came from behind him and assaulted the creature. Though it wasn't doing much, it was helping, at least. Kyle turned his head around to see a red-headed teen girl and her Chikorita burst out from the bushes, ready to help in their assault. So there were trainers with spines in this tournament! Even as she came up to add her Razor Leaf to Cyndaquil and Voltorb's sustained attacks, another girl came up from behind on the other side of Jamie, adding her Pikachu to their ranks. In fact, now that there was a small group standing against the monstrous Pokémon, it seemed that trainers from all sides were looking to get involved in their assault on it. Kyle growled. This had something to do with psychology, he thought: people don't act in a mass crisis unless they're led, or something like that. He couldn't remember for sure.
Either way, there were nearly two dozen trainers adding their attacks in against the 'Regirock" now, which was much better than he and Jamie having to fight it off on their own. It managed to block quite a few of the attacks and counterattack some with flying rocks, but it seemed unable to keep up with the sheer number of trainers and their Pokémon that had come to challenge it. In fact, he could swear that the shadow Pokémon was now visibly troubled, and taking a few steps back. Kyle shouted in satisfaction, and he wasn't the only one. The entire crowd gathered started to yell encouragements to their Pokémon.
"That's it, Golduck!"
"Go! Shadow Ball!"
Kyle couldn't help but adding to their cheers, "Cyndaquil! Voltorb! Keep it up!" Kyle broke into his wide grin again. They were actually beating this crazy thing! This was more like it!
