Pokemon Battle Stages (ex. Colosseums or Stadiums) Discussion Thread

shoz999

Back when Tigers used to smoke.
In titles like Pokemon Colosseum, XD, and Battle Revolution, the player can choose what Colosseum or Stadium to fight in for multiplayer. This was a very popular feature that Pokemon fans hope to see make a return and now since Nintendo wants to ramp up online gameplay to make it worth the extra fee for the Nintendo Switch's online infrastructure, I think GameFreak should also ramp up the online features for Pokemon, in the case of this thread, choosing your own battle stages. It doesn't even have to be Colosseum or Stadiums, it can be battle stages in the middle of the bustling streets of a huge skyscraper city or an ancient village, or in the middle of a vast bridge as the river calmly flows by, or in the middle of the forest where we can hear birds hum, or perhaps taking place in the middle of a volcano about to erupt soon as fire-type Pokemon crawl or fly out to escape, or at the top of a mountain where the main series legendary make there home or maybe inside a cave full of electric crystals.

I feel this would be an awesome returning feature from the previous 3D Battle Simulators into Pokemon Switch and would definitely be a refreshing coat of paint as opposed to the usual virtual battle stage that 6th and 7th generation always uses for online battling.
  • Since Pokemon is going to the Switch Era, I've always imagined this possibility of battle stages making a return having the same detailed graphics as Pokken Tournament's battle stages. Even though it feels kind of stretch, consider that possibility.
  • Do you think this should be a permanent feature, especially for competitive players who play Pokemon year-long?
  • What kind of battle stages would you like to see.
  • Do you want to see over-the-top absurd battle stages as a part of Pokemon's "Battle culture" like the Battle Subway from Unova?
  • Do you want to see old battle stages from previous generations and battle simulators be remade into new HD stages like Mario Kart 8 did with old racing tracks?
  • Interestingly, there are signs that GameFreak did wanted to bring this feature back in the 7th gen as there are battle stages from past locations remade in 3D locked behind the Alolan Photo Club featuring old locations such as Spear Pillar or the entrance to Skyarrow Bridge.
NOTE: This is a re-posted thread. Many many threads in the Pokemon Let's Go section were aimed at Generation 8 but due to some confusions and the unexpected Let's Go titles, many detailed 8th gen threads have been "lost" there, not sure if that's the proper word. Anyways, I'm going to delete the old threads in the Let's Go section in a week so if you have some arguments or ideas you want people to hear out, hurry up and copy and paste them.

Since no one has any ideas, here's one. I've always wanted a Space Station Colosseum. It would be a giant metal battle arena surrounded by several Astronaut Employees in science and engineering gear working alongside Steel and Electric-type Pokemon. Maybe around the arena, you'd see them ordering food from a cafe machine, or healing there Pokemon from a Space Nurse Joy, or looking at super computers or some just watching the battle with there Pokemon. The battle arena exists to kill the scientists boredom from time to time, kind of like a certain TCG region.

From the large wide scenic glass windows, you can see a meteor transforming into Deoxys, Mewtwo and Mew flying together as a reference to the original Pokemon anime intro, maybe Mega Rayquaza chasing and fighting Deoxys like a jet, Beheyeem floating through space, Genesect flying across orbit like a saucer, or for a joke easter egg, Clefairy flying in a saucer contacting Magnezon's strange alien waves. Not only that you would see Astronauts working with Pokemon in Pokemon astronaut suits fixing space stations and floating throughout space. Maybe a secret Team Galactic Satellite would appear in rare occasions as a reference to Team Galactic or a hint to Diamond and Pearl remakes?

And of course. You would see the blue-sparkling Pokemon world from the space station that you'd often see from the beginning of Pokemon movies where the Narrator says "Welcome to the world of Pokemon!"
