Pokemon BDSP - Recent Happenings Thread

So I finally started Brilliant Diamond and decided to use a team of Pokémon that I had on Pokémon Home as I like to start with a full, planned out team of 6 but I'm running into a bit of a problem. My Pokémon stopped obeying me when they reached around level 12 or so. From researching online I think once I get my second badge I'll need to keep them below level 30 but after I get 4 badges then I should be all good. I've planned my teams and don't want to change them but my planned team for Shining Pearl should be ok as I can catch like 4 of them pretty early on.

My Brilliant Diamond Team (when fully evolved) is Poliwrath, Torterra, Magnezone, Magmortar, Drapion & Clefairy.
Is the reason you have Clefairy there instead of Clefable is because you don’t plan on evolving your Clefairy?

Oh! That was a typo, I do have a Clefable.

I've also just beat the 4th Gym so I shouldn't have anymore obedience issues.

Playin Shining Pearl, had the weirdest battle against Cynthia- everything was going normal, but against Garchomp, I realized that it had Earthquake, D-Claw, and Poison Jab... and I had Bastiodon, Haunter, and Azumarill left. So I decided to PP stall it out, which worked fine, but I ended up losing anyways- I was keeping track of its PP on an online calc, and I knew it had 1 Poison Jab left in the tank, but it was spamming Swords Dance against Bastiodon. Usually, it'd just finish off a move before using useless statuses, but I didn't think much of it, other than that I had to attack with Bastiodon over Haunter (who had D-Gleam) and Azumarill (who had Play Rough). Once it started Struggling, I realized why it did that- keeping a backup Poison Jab essentially forced my into attacking with Bastiodon(whose Heavy Slam wasn't good at all.), and I couldn't use up her Restores or KO Chompy. Bastiodon lived a lot of Struggles due to its defense, Sturdy, and Protect, but Cynthia had an unfair share of Full Restores in her back pocket. Chompy was also faster than my team, so even though it had 0 PP left and was her final mon, 3 Swords Dances is still a lot.

Anyways, if you're going up against her soon, bring something that's faster than 221.

Defeated Fantina yestereday. Man she was tougher and hits hard than what i remember.
Electivire Umbreon Quilava Munchlax Prinplup and Wartortle evolved into Blastoise (after the fight)
Umbreon and Munchlax came in handy wasting her options including Umbreon against Gengar's ghost moves.

I'm totally done with BDSP. I completed both games and caught all of the Legendary Pokémon that were available.

My teams were:
Brilliant Diamond-Poliwrath, Torterra, Magnezone, Magmortar, Drapion & Clefable
Shining Pearl-Empoleon, Roserade, Electivire, Rapidash, Staraptor & Garchomp

I'm replaying Brilliant Diamond, and I keep having to soft reset because the old lady in Floaroma keeps giving me a Mew with decreased Sp. Attack.

Like, what's up with that? Give me a good Mew!

I had been putting off finishing my last crown in my Home dex for a while now, only needing BDSP Palkia. With the recent Shiny Manaphy gift announcement, it got my gut in gear. I had a play through of Shining Pearl started to get the mystery gift events when they were still active and I was up to the third badge. Long story short, I caught Palkia last night in a Lure Ball and was able to complete the Home Crown.

I went with the Lure Ball as it's one of my favorites and a bit of a rarity for Palkia. There are other games where you can get Palkia in that ball, but I liked being able to control the nature, which BDSP allows for.

I just started Shining Pearl this week. (I'm still planning on playing Let's Go Eevee from time to time as I've reached a point where I need to grind, ie catch a bunch of pokemon.) I have beaten Roark, caught a Psyduck (unfortunately not one with Damp, my preferred ability), and received a Jirachi and Mew in Floaroma Town. My starter was Piplup and she has evolved into Prinplup. I got the Hidden Ability starters from HOME. My Abra is one level away from evolving and I'm having fun. Anyone looking for trades in HOME or in BDSP itself can hit me up with PMs.

Can we please get the older, old forum back?
I just realized BDSP are the only games on the Switch games in which you can catch (and trade) Clamperl - since Gen7.

I stopped ChainFishing for Clamperl in Y after I found one - as GTS/Online was down and thought I couldn't trade evolve it (or lol, abuse PLA's items as a workaround) anyway.

Since I was informed that it's in BDSP - I have set my sights on ChainFishing in Y for two more shiny Clamperl and finding someone here to do some tradebacks.

Haven't checked if the items are hard to get/version exclusives.. Knowing BDSP I'll probably have to grind at the Battle Tower or something..

Will return to this post after I found an additional two shiny Clamperl.

I have four badges now and finally munchlax and snorlax originating in bdsp. I also have spiritomb from bdsp. I took a break and played some Kirby with johnny (my boyfriend) but I'm gonna fight fantina later this afternoon. I can't wait to surf.

been doing a rerun of BD for the last week, focusing on using critters that had never been part of my team before. developed a new appreciation for Carnivine, which carried me through my Grand Underground training sessions, as well as Yanmega and Froslass, which allowed me to conquer the last routes and double battles. smooth going except for Cynthia's Garchomp wiping my whole team when I finally got to the league. came back with a vengeance - set Stealth Rock with Empoleon at the beginning, then two layers of Toxic Spikes with Drapion after she sent her Roserade, then countered Garchomp with a Roserade of my own - Venom Drench & spamming Dazzling Gleam. almost gave up when she used a full restore but VD effects were still up, and it still took THREE DG, but now I'm Sinnoh's new champion with Froslass, Roserade, Drapion, Empoleon, Torterra & Infernape (had never used a full set of starters in Sinnoh before).

All i can say is this a game i'm not going to bother with repeating. Grinding a team to fight the entire elite 4 felt like a preparation for graduation test with the limited pokemon. Also since she has 2 Sludge Bombs, Poison Jab and Metal Claw makes it a bad idea for those who want Togekiss on the team.

Also i kept falling of that one ledge outside Stark Mountain why the **** is it there only a single tile trap-edge and 99% of the time i just fall off.

I didn't give this game a fair shot, so the next time I get a switch, I'll redownload and give it a go. Actually, I'm not even sure why I didn't finish it in the first place? Well given the overall reception of it, some people didn't seem to like it as much compared to how many requests for this generation to be re-released in the first place.

it feels outdated and grindy compared to newer titles, I'll say that

Was that the first playthrough teams? e.g Flint still using his non-fire team?
