GENERAL INFORMATION
- These are remakes of the Pokemon Diamond & Pokemon Pearl released on the Nintendo DS.
- The game is developed by ILCA, Inc. but is co-directed by Junichi Masuda.
- The soundtrack is arranged by Shota Kegayama [source].
STORY, SETTING & CHARACTERS
- Set in the Sinnoh Region.
- Embark on an adventure with either Turtwig (Grass), Chimchar (Fire) or Piplup (Water).
- Characters re-introduced:
- Professor Rowan, a famous professor in the field of Pokemon Evolution.
- Dawn/Lucas, Professor Rowan's assistant.
- Barry, your childhood friend and rival.
- Defeat the Gym Leaders and collect all eight Gym Badges to compete in the Pokemon League.
- Roark, the Oreburgh City Gym Leader
- Gardenia, the Eterna City Gym Leader
- Candice, the Snowpoint City Gym Leader
- Volkner, the Sunyshore City Gym Leader
- Cynthia, the Pokemon League champion
- On certain occasions, you can team up with special trainers such as Cheryl and Riley.
- Team Galactic, a group of troublemakers in Sinnoh.
- Mars, Jupiter & Saturn, admins of Team Galaactic
- Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic
MECHANICS & GAMEPLAY FEATURES
- The game utilizes a chibi toy-like art style in the overworld, but uses full-scale models of characters and Pokemon in battles.
- Trainer Customization is available.
- Choose your skin tone at the beginning of the game.
- Buy and change outfits at the Metronome Style Shop in Veilstone City. Said building replaced the Game Corner.
- The Underground feature has been updated into the Grand Underground.
- Dig up treasures and fossils from the walls. Statues, which are secret base decor, can now be dug up as well.
- You can also create Secret Bases using the Digger Drill.
- A new feature, Pokemon Hideaways, has been introduced.
- These are areas underground that are home to various wild Pokemon.
- Terrain in these hideaways will vary depending on the statues placed in your secret base.
- You can also interact with other trainers underground both locally and globally.
- Super Contest Shows return.
- The contest is divided into 5 categories: Coolness, Cuteness, Beauty, Toughness, and Cleverness.
- Within each category, there are several ranks: Normal, Great, Ultra, and Master Rank.
- Contests have 3 Evaluation rounds: Visual, Dance, and Move Evaluation.
- You receive Hype Points based on your evaluations. If the combined total of all four contestants reaches the target score, the show will be declared a success.
- The contest is divided into 5 categories: Coolness, Cuteness, Beauty, Toughness, and Cleverness.
- Poffins are food given to Pokemon to raise its contest stats.
- Poffins are made using 4 berries, and its flavors will vary depending on the berries you used.
- Each Pokemon prefer a different flavor.
- The Poketch (or Pokemon Watch) is an electronic gadget that offers multiple helpful apps:
- Digital Watch - digital clock basically
- Pokemon List - shows your current party
- Memo Pad - use it to write your own notes, or draw stuff
- Happiness Checker - check your bond with your Pokemon
- Dowsing Machine - reacts to hidden items
- Step Counter - a pedometer
- Hidden Moves - the 8 HMs return, but this time as a new feature of the Poketch, and using wild Pokemon instead
- Seals return and is now called Capsule Decoration.
- There are over 90 different stickers to choose from.
- It can be bought in shops, from defeating trainers, or even doing successful Super Contest Shows.
- You can place up to 20 stickers.
- You can edit your Ball Capsule in either 2D or 3D.

- Pokemon encounters vary between day & night.
- Some items sold on a certain shop also vary on certain days.

- Ramanas Parkis a new facility that allows you to capture Legendary Pokemon. This facility replaces the Pal Park and is only accessible post-game. Various caves with pedestals are dotted across the park. To summon legendary Pokemon, special slates are put into these pedestals.The following Legendary Pokemon can be found:
- Articuno, Zepdos, Motres (exclusive to Shining Pearl)
- Mewtwo - requires the Genome Slate
- Raikou, Entei, Suicune (exclusive to Brilliant Diamond)
- Ho-oh (exclusive to Brilliant Diamond)
- Lugia (exclusive to Shining Pearl)
- Rayquaza - requires the Stratospheric Slate
ONLINE FEATURES & CONNECTIVITY
- The Union Room returns, where you can trade and battle with trainers locally or globally.
- By having save data from other Pokemon games, you can unlock Mythical Pokemon:
- Mew (Let's GO Pikachu/Eevee) - Speak to a madame on a flower field southwest of Floaroma town
- Jirachi (Sword/Shield) - Speak to the gentleman on a flower field southwest of Floaroma town
- Even if you have multiple game saves from the above games, you can only receive one Jirachi and one Mew.
- Pokemon HOME support with be available on 2022.
- These early purchase bonuses will be available for download via Mystery Gift when you buy the game between November 19, 2021 - February 21, 2022:
- Manaphy Egg - hatches the legendary Pokemon, Manaphy, which when bred, hatches into Phione
- Platinum Outfit - original player's attire in Pokemon Platinum
